How To Invest In Litecoin (and Should You Do It)

Home How To Invest In Litecoin (And Should You Do It) How To Invest In Litecoin (And Should You Do It) Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin are making headlines because the value of these currencies has risen dramatically over the last year. These currencies rely on complicated mathematics and blockchain technology to create a system that allows users to pay, store, and get value from these currencies. Specifically talking about Litecoin, let's dive in and look at what it is, how it's different than other currencies, and the most important question of all: how to invest in Litecoin. Before you get started with Litecoin, you need a digital wallet. We recommend using Coinbase , which we will discuss a bit more below. If you're considering investing in Litecoin, realize that there are a lot of risks - but also huge potential rewards. We try to break it down as easily as possible, but this is a complicated subject. Litecoin is a peer-to-peer Internet currency that enables instant, near-zero cost payments to anyone in the world. Litecoin is an open source, global payment network that is fully decentralized. Mathematics secures the network and empowers individuals to control their own finances. Litecoin is the third most popular digital currency, behind Bitcoin and Ethereum . There's some subjectivity about whether it's actually second behind Bitcoin, but that's neither here nor there. Litecoin is different than other currencies is a couple key ways. First, unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum, Litecoin uses a software algorthym (Scrypt) to mine units. This somewhat prevents individuals from making powerful custom computers (or rigs) specifically to mine the currency. Second, Litecoin has one of the fastest transaction times of the digital currencies, clocking in at Continue reading >>

Are Bitcoin, Litecoin, Etc. A Good Investment? - Quora

Are Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc. a good investment? Over $20,000 in your IRA or 401k? Here's how to move to Bitcoin. Open a Bitcoin IRA now for massive growth potential on a tax-deferred basis. Get a free info guide now. Yes. They will definitely grow in the long run. But right now, Id rather buy some altcoins because once the money starts going out of the recent Bitcoin bull run, it will get into altcoins resulting in solid growth. People have been selling their altcoins to buy Bitcoins in the hope of getting some free coins (Bitcoin Gold). This has resulted in certain altcoins like Omisego, TenX etc falling by more than 40% from their peaks. So it seems like a good moment to get some of these because once Bitcoin starts falling people will rush to altcoins. If you are in for the long term and not for a swing trade, you can buy Bitcoin anytime now and you will be happy in a few years down the lane anyways. P.S. This is not investment advice. Only invest what you can afford to lose. As of now investing in bitcoin or litecoin is not at all profitable because ,the bitcoin price is in it's prime now so if you buy now you couldn't get profits Yes they are a good investment but time is not right now.if you wanna invest in alt coins then you need to wait for next downfall or price drop and litecoin has no growth but it's value may increase or decrease. so what I'm suggesting is invest in etherium which shows potential growth in price. if this is helpful give it a upvote and make sure you follow me to know when is the better time to invest in bitcoin or any other altcoins. It really depends on the Coin you intend to invest. It also depends on your investment style. BTC/LTC/ETH/XRP are good long term investments in my oppinion. For short term investments you really have to be up to Continue reading >>

Litecoin To Become One Of The Best Investment Options: Geoffrey Caveney

Litecoin to Become One of The Best Investment Options: Geoffrey Caveney Seeking Alpha analyst forecasts that the silver in the world of cryptocurrencies, Litecoin, has the capability to become one of the best investing options in the market. Seeking Alpha analyst Geoffrey Caveney forecasts that the silver in the world of cryptocurrencies, Litecoin , has the capability to become one of the best investing options in the market. Caveneys prediction is based on the fact that the digital currency is one of the three virtual currencies that are being supported to be traded on Coinbase, which is arguably the most famous exchange cryptocurrency platform as of August 2017. The other digital currencies are the virtual currency markets gold Bitcoin and Ethereum. In his report, Caveney claimed that aside from the support from Coinbase, there are other reasons behind his positive views on Litecoin: There are at least a half dozen other digital currencies out there that are about as big and well-known as Litecoin, including several that have larger total market caps at the moment, so its a big deal that only Litecoin is supported by Coinbase along with Bitcoin and Ethereum. But Coinbases approval is not the only reason to consider buying Litecoin. Other reasons behind Litecoins rise and attractiveness According to Caveney, Litecoins adoption and activation of the scaling upgrade soft fork called Segregated Witness ( SegWit ) has worked wonders on the digital currencys performance. SegWit was originally designed for the leading virtual currency Bitcoin, but developers of Bitcoin opted to implement the hard-fork option that was activated on Aug. 1. This has led to the split of the Bitcoin Blockchain network and the creation of the new digital currency called Bitcoin Cash. Moreover, Li Continue reading >>

Bitcoin, Ethereum And Litecoin Are The Most Popular Cryptocurrency Investments Among Millennials

Bitcoin, Ethereum And Litecoin Are The Most Popular Cryptocurrency Investments Among Millennials

Bitcoin, Ethereum And Litecoin Are The Most Popular Cryptocurrency Investments Among Millennials Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own. Millennials love cryptocurrenciesfor a couple of reasons. One of them is the technology behind them that promises to modernize capitalism, and free it from the tight control of big governments and big banks. The other reason is the potential cryptocurrencies have to make investors rich quickly, provided that they continue to rise at an astronomical pace. Thats why, among Millennials, cryptocurrencies were a popular choice to invest $10,000 in, in a recent survey of 1,000 Americans. Specifically, the survey found that 9.19% of Millennials (18-34) would invest the $10,000 in cryptocurrencies, compared to 4.04% of Generation Xers (35-54) and 3.08% of Baby Boomers (55+). Whats more interesting is that Bitcoin remains by far the most popular choice, followed by Ethereum and Litecoin. Specifically, 76% of the Millennials in the survey said that they would invest the $10,000 in Bitcoin, 12% in Ethereum and 12% in Litecoinsee table 1. In Which Cryptocurrencies Millennials Will Invest $10,000 There are a couple explanations for that. One of them is that the survey sample is extremely small, and therefore could easily have missed those who could invest the $10,000 in Ripple. Another answer is that the rise of Ripple in market capitalization is fairly recent, and therefore has yet to capture the attention of the average millennial investor. [Ed. note: Investing in cryptocoins or tokens is highly speculative and the market is largely unregulated. Anyone considering it should be prepared to lose their entire investment. Disclosure: I don't own any Bitcoin.] Continue reading >>

5 Reasons Litecoin Is A Better Choice Than Bitcoin

5 Reasons Litecoin Is A Better Choice Than Bitcoin

5 Reasons Litecoin Is a Better Choice Than Bitcoin "Bitcoin-Lite" has a lot more to offer investors, albeit current cryptocurrency valuations appear bloated. "What goes up can go up a whole lot more" has sort of been a theme of cryptocurrencies in 2017. Despite no shortage of skeptics, the aggregate market value of every cryptocurrency combined has vaulted from $17.7 billion on Dec. 31, 2016, to as high as $635 billion as of Dec. 20, 2017. That's right -- a nearly 3,500% increase in value in less than a year. There have been a number of catalysts pushing the value of virtual currencies higher as a whole. Topping this list is the emergence of blockchain technology . Think of blockchain as the infrastructure that these virtual coins are built upon. Blockchain is the digital, distributed, and decentralized ledger that records all transactions, and does so without the need for a third party. Using blockchain as opposed to current databases might lead to more secure networks that settle transactions faster and cheaper. Emotions have played a pivotal role as well. Since institutional investors have mostly stuck to the sidelines, retail investors have been responsible for the upward move in digital coins thus far. Some of these investors, especially those with little investing experience, have been lured in by the fear of missing out on big gains. These emotions have compounded to push cryptocurrencies ever higher. An increase in use for virtual coins has also served as a catalyst. Bitcoin, which has served as the face of this rally, has successfully been adding new merchants to its network, to go along with the brand-name merchants it added back in 2014. As more merchants become willing to accept virtual coins, the validity of using these tokens to purchase goods and service Continue reading >>

So many scams its just sad. Litecoin is cash, youre giving cash to a stranger on the itnernet that can walk away with it anytime they choose. Many legit businesses have stolen from csutomers, Cryptsy was the biggest altcoin exchange and stole everyones cons and money. If you would trust sending cash to that site, then I guess go for it but its a gamble not an investment. Youre gambling that they are honest and wont decide to take the money and run, and also that theyll be able to generate returns that arent based on new investor money, lots of ponzi scams out there now and many have imploded in the past. If you want look at litecoingear in the archived litecoin forums, it was a legit FPGA designer who sold miners and delivered to members of the community. Started a cloud mining company, and it was either a ponzi from the start or became a ponzi and most of the forum at the time was invested and it eventually ran out of new investors and crashed costing people fortunes. So I wouldnt do it at all, if you insist on doing it go really really small and even if returns are good dont get suckered into investing more because thats when its most dangerous. Id just like to buy some friggin Litecoin in the Continue reading >>

What Is Litecoin And Is It A Good Investment?

What Is Litecoin And Is It A Good Investment?

What Is Litecoin And Is It A Good Investment? Litecoin is one of the top five cryptocurrencies currently. Within the cryptocurrency space, the digital currency has been referred to as the silver to bitcoins gold. Litecoin (LTC) currently has a market capitalization of $12 billion and is trading at around the $230 mark. In 2011, a software engineer at Google named Charlie Lee came across an article about the dark web marketplace Silk Road. Through the article, he was introduced to bitcoin, the first decentralized digital currency, which was still in its infancy at the time. After familiarizing himself with blockchain technology, Lee created his first digital currency which he named Fairbrix. This coin was a clone of the coin Tenebrix, which was popular at the time but finally fell through because its creator had pre-mined millions of coins for himself. Lee created Fairbrix in an attempt to level the playing field by ensuring no coins were mined beforehand. His coin successfully launched but eventually fell through due to technical difficulties. In early October 2011, Charlie Lee initiated the open-source client of a new cryptocurrency on GitHub . His second attempt at creating digital currency would involve a hard fork of the leading cryptocurrency, bitcoin. Lee named this altcoin Litecoin. It went live on October 13, 2011. Lee explained that litecoin was designed as a response to the scalability problems witnessed by the Bitcoin network. Ive always known that it would be hard for bitcoin to scale and be the one coin that does everything for everyone. So my vision for litecoin has always been to complement bitcoin to be the payments currency. Where bitcoin would be digital gold, litecoin would be silver. Its more useful for payments. And bitcoin would be better for stor Continue reading >>

How To Buy Litecoin - What You Need To Know About Buying Litecoin

People have often describedlitecoin as silver tobitcoin's gold. It is the thirdlargest cryptocurrency after bitcoin by market cap, with Ripple sitting in second place . Litecoin was developed as a bitcoinalternative to address some of that cryptocurrency'sperceived shortcomings. It was designed to be lightweight and more abundant than bitcoin. In addition, it uses scrypt as its proof-of-workalgorithm, which was aimed to make it impervious to ASIC mining, although several companies say they are planning to launch scrypt ASIC miners in the near future. A total of 84 million litecoins can be produced on the network (compared with 21 million BTC), which was designed to process blocks faster than bitcoin. If you would like to know a bit more about litecoin, then read this more detailedintroduction on how to get started . Some points of note before you buy litecoin: Litecoin became an increasing magnet for speculators after bitcoin's price surge in November 2013, but prices have since dropped in parallel. Litecoin For Beginners: A Step-by-step Guide To Ltc | Finder.com

Released on October 7, 2011 by former Google employee Charlie Lee, Litecoin (LTC, ) is an open source, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency digital currency operating independently of any countrys central bank. While similar to bitcoin in many ways, Litecoin also incorporates several improvements (such as Segregated Witness) which help reduce bottlenecks in the network and increase the speed with which transactions are carried out. Litecoin has experienced massive growth since its inception, reaching a $1 billion market cap in November 2013, and over four times that much by 2017. In May 2017, Litecoin became the first cryptocurrency to adopt Segregated Witness (or SegWit, for short). The system splits every transaction into two segments, removing the signature (the witness part) from the original data. This makes the processing of every transaction faster, one of the key advantages of Litecoin over bitcoin. While there are a lot of similarities between Litecoin and its more widely accepted competitor, bitcoin, Litecoin has a few distinct advantages when it comes to mining, transaction verification speed and security: Higher volume of transactions. The Segregated Witness process increases the rate at which transactions are verified on the block, reducing the time for confirmation of payment from 10 minutes (for bitcoin) to 2.5 minutes (for Litecoin). More secure. This faster processing time also helps maintain a secure environment by reducing the chance of double-spending attacks a hack in which the attacker spends the same money twice to pay for two different transactions. Larger coin limit. While bitcoin has a maximum coin limit of 21 million coins, Litecoin has an upper limit of 84 million coins. Harder to mine. This might not be seen as an advantage at first glance, but beca Continue reading >>

Litecoin Beats Bitcoin's Price In 2018: But What Is It? | Fortune

With digital currency Bitcoin taking the spotlight in 2017, its hard to remember the other cryptocurrencies that have been growing in its shadow. An increasingly-prominent example: Litecoin . The fourth largest digital currency by market capitalization has gone positively vertical this year, with Litecoin prices breaching $320 for the first time Tuesday. Since the start of 2017, Litecoin has risen 7,291% against bitcoins 1,731%. So why the rise? There doesnt seem to be a single eventthough the recent surge in interest surrounding cryptocurrencies may have pushed some investors into becoming more adventurous. Some investors may also think the price of bitcoin is overdoneand are seeking other investment opportunities. Meanwhile, Litecoin only became somewhat easier to purchase earlier this year , with Coinbase adding the cryptocurrency to its listing. One of the several clone cryptocurrencies that stemmed from Bitcoin, Litecoin forked off the Bitcoin ledger in late 2011. It was intended to be the silver to Bitcoins gold: a faster, more lightweight version of the Satoshi Nakamoto-created cryptocurrency. Instead of the approximately 10 minutes it takes for a Bitcoin transaction, a Litecoin transaction only takes 2.5 minutes. While making transactions four times faster, Litecoins creator also Charlie Lee quadrupled the maximum number of coins that can be mined. While bitcoin has a total of 21 million, Litecoin totals 84 million. And the total market value of Litecoin is currently lower: $18 billion to Bitcoins $291 billion. It is the fourth largest cryptocurrency market behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin cash. The higher number of Litecoins, meanwhile, could make it psychologically more attractive to buy small-ticket items using the cryptocurrency. The vision is always I Continue reading >>
