Bitcoin Growing Fast In Unbanked Indonesia

Bitcoin Growing Fast In Unbanked Indonesia

Bitcoin Growing Fast In Unbanked Indonesia Indonesia, trailing just behind the United States as the fourth most populous country in the world, has a large and growing bitcoin community. The vast population is 80 percent unbanked, and their Rupiah is one of the most-traded currencies for bitcoin worldwide already. NgsCrypto.com interviewed Suasti Atmastuti Astaman, the Business Development Manager of Indonesian bitcoin exchange Bitcoin.co.id. NgsCrypto.com (BC): Whats your market share of the Indonesian bitcoin market? Bitcoin.co.id (BI): We have more than 229,500 members with daily growth around 100-150 members. Our daily transaction volume can reach up to 1.5 million USD per day. And we are listed as one of the biggest Bitcoin exchanges in Southeast Asia. I believe we control for more than 70% Bitcoin transaction in Indonesia, considering we are the biggest Bitcoin exchange in Indonesia. BC: Can you describe the bitcoin market in Indonesia? BI: The majority of members in our Bitcoin exchange serve as Bitcoin traders, rather than Bitcoin users. They buy Bitcoin in intention to gain profit and use it whether for a short-term investment, a long-term one or perhaps both. They trade quite often, buying Bitcoin when the price is low, and selling it again when the price increases. There are a lot of people in Indonesia that love to take profit from trading, not just cryptocurrency, but also stocks and foreign exchange. Apparently, they love Bitcoin just as much since the price tends to fluctuate a lot. For people who love the idea of Bitcoin as a new form of money, they are going to hate knowing that there a lot of people taking profit from Bitcoin trading but thats the fact and it contributes quite a lot to our trading volume. Our daily trading volume usually reaches 5 to 1 Continue reading >>

Bi Minta "merchant" Tak Menerima Bitcoin Sebagai Alat Pembayaran

Mohit Kalra , CEO at Coinsecure, says to CoinTelegraph: When we talk about the size of the market- there are over 1.2 billion individuals living in India right now. India is second in population size to China. Imagine if only 0.5 billion individuals got into the market. Huge potential. For some time now, Indian merchants were able to accept payments in Bitcoin but just not receive a payout in INR. Now, Indian merchants can accept payments in Bitcoin and receive a payout in INR. Bitcoin is no longer just an investment in India but an opportunity to buy goods from Bitcoin accepting merchants. Coinsecure will be the first company to use BitPays platform to offer Bitcoin payment processing to merchants in India and southern Asia. Aside from its population, India is a tech haven with many freelance software developers operating locally to serve a global market. Find answers to recurring questions and myths about Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a consensus network that enables a new payment system and a completely digital money. It is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. From a user perspective, Bitcoin is pretty much like cash for the Internet. Bitcoin can also be seen as the most prominent triple entry bookkeeping system in existence. Bitcoin is the first implementation of a concept called "cryptocurrency", which was first described in 1998 by Wei Dai on the cypherpunks mailing list, suggesting the idea of a new form of money that uses cryptography to control its creation and transactions, rather than a central authority. The first Bitcoin specification and proof of concept was published in 2009 in a cryptography mailing list by Satoshi Nakamoto. Satoshi left the project in late 2010 without revealing much about himself. The community has since grown exponentially with many developers working on Bitcoin. Satoshi's anonymity often raised unjustified concerns, many of which are linked to misunderstanding of the open-source nature of Bitcoin. The Bitcoin protocol and software are published openly and any developer around the world can review the code or make their own modified version of the Bitcoin software. Just like current developers, Satoshi's influence was limited to the changes he made being adopted by others and therefore he did not control Bitcoin. As such, the identity of Bitcoin's inventor is probably as relevant today as the identity of the person who invented paper. Nobody owns the Bitcoin network much like no one owns the technology behind email. Bitcoin is controlled by all Bitcoin users around the world. While developers are improving the s Continue reading >>

Indonesia to Add Full Bitcoin Exchange as Merchant Network Grows Mar 16, 2014 at 23:33 UTC |UpdatedMar 19, 2014 at 03:58 UTC The bitcoin economy in Indonesia has been growing lately, with its premier bitcoin buying and selling service Bitcoin Indonesia now operating a full open exchange, trading around 30 BTC per day. While still not at the level of other larger countries, it's certainly an improvement on the 5 BTC per day the exchange reported at its launch back in December 2013. At that stage, CEO and active local digital currency advocate Oscar Darmawan said he aimed for the company to become a full-fledged open exchange, but that volumes would need to improve first. It seems that has happened within just a couple of months, as interest in bitcoin and digital currency grows rapidly throughout Indonesia's and Southeast Asia's young and upwardly mobile population. Bitcoin Indonesia is now running as an open exchange for all interested in entering the bitcoin ecosystem. "We are launching our system and we are confident that our daily volume at least will reach 200 BTC daily in this semester. So far, about 1,500 members already listed in our database and everything running better than expectation." The exchange's current price is 7,150,000 rupiah, or about $629.5, close to the current CoinDesk BPI price of $626. Darmawan has also met with local regulatory authorites to discuss bitcoin and appeared on network TV in Jakarta. He says he intends to launch more services in the coming year. That will hopefully include a partnership with another bitcoin business to import the country's first bitcoin vending machine (or ATM), though the project was still in its early stages. As in other places, finding local merchants willing to accept bitcoin is proving more of a challenge tha Continue reading >>
