Localethereum: Localbitcoins For Ethereum [eth P2p Market]

LocalEthereum: LocalBitcoins For Ethereum [ETH P2P Market] By: Sudhir Khatwani In: Ethereum Last Updated: P2P cryptocurrency markets are slowly and steadily getting attention. P2P markets and P2P crypto exchanges are a popular alternative to centralized exchanges. And why not? We know that centralized exchanges are prone to attacks and have been hacked time and again. And while P2P markets currently lack a lot of liquidity, they will certainly become a much stronger presence in the crypto world in the near future. These P2P markets open up a new possibility of buying/selling your favorite crypto directly in fiat, plus there are no headaches or frustrations around documentverifications/cancellations/etc. <br /> Can't load widget<br /> One of the biggest P2P exchanges is LocalBitcoins . But it currently only offers trading of Bitcoin . So thats why this new Ethereum P2P market sprang up. Its called LocalEthereum. ( Visit Website ) But its not just a LocalBitcoins clone; its actually implemented in a much better way. In this introduction of LocalEthereum, I will address the following points: LocalEthereum is a peer-to-peer ether portal that allows its users to swap ether (ETH) and fiat (USD, GBP, EUR, etc.) directly with other people, using end-to-end encryption and decentralized Ethereum-powered escrows . Through this platform, trading parties can trade in different ways via online bank transfers or online cash trades. While it is certainly not as old as LocalBitcoins , it is more secure because they are using Ethereum-powered smart contracts. The platform is currently available in English and Chinese. LocalEthereum just launched on 23rd October 2017 with more than 800 P2P offers of ether in 80 fiat currencies (however it had been in developme Continue reading >>

How Localethereum Works With Its Browser Wallet

How Localethereum Works With Its Browser Wallet

how localethereum works with its browser wallet I am currently using service, it has a browser based wallet, its faq mentions that The localethereum.com wallet is completely embedded inside of your browser. Similar to how messages are secured, the localethereum wallet is designed so that your Ethereum address private keys are generated offline in your browser. all I know from the faq is online server stores identity key, and the identity key is used to sign signed key pairs and Ethereum addresses Identity verification - Each prekey is signed by the identity key of its owner so that you know you are always talking to the right person. MakerKeypublic and MakerKeysignature are submitted to localethereum's server for safe-keeping. The private key is encrypted safely using AES-256 with a random IV and stored online too (at least for now). Alice goes ahead and generates and signs (using her identity key) hundreds of Ethereum addresses. First question, is this identity key a (public key/ private key pair), and it mentions that 'Once Bob verifies both signatures to Alice's public key', is this Alice's public key a identity key or public makerkey ? the web app shows the wallet address and it also allows me to export the private keys, as it generates the private keys offline, it seems not to store the private keys online as well, but if i change the browser or computer, why could i still get access to the wallet and private keys? it there a way to do it by not storing the wallet address and private key on the server ? How To Buy Ether With Localethereum

How To Buy Ether With Localethereum

Buying ether using localethereum is quick, safe and easy. This guide will explain how to buy ether using the peer-to-peer trading platform. Before we begin, its important to understand that localethereum isnt an exchange, and it doesnt act as an intermediary or take deposits. Instead, its a place where you can find other over-the-counter traders these people could be individuals like you, or established businesses and brokers. What this means is that you have more control about how you want to trade, but you also have more responsibility. Although the process is much quicker, easier and safer than using an exchange, there is some leg-work required to keep yourself safe. We dont monitor conversations between you and other traders (we cant theyre encrypted), so youll need to use your common sense and be careful of who you trust. If somebody is acting suspicious for example, refusing to put the ETH in escrow (well explain what escrow means later) stop and think, and report the user to help make the platform safer. You can always come back and look at this guide if you ever get confused throughout the process. Youll also need to make sure youre following the law. Different countries and states have different legislation: for example, you may be required to keep specific records, apply for a particular license, or collect and verify the identities of people to help prevent money laundering. These rules vary by country, so be sure to do your research. Nothing in this guide is intended to constitute legal or financial advice. On March 17, 2017, BitSoko held the first ICO Summit in Kenya. The three-hour event attracted over 50 attendees and was well-received by the Kenyan startup scene as the main theme of the event was focused on how ICOs can help Kenyan startups to meet their funding needs. In Africa, Nairobi the capital of Kenya has turned into a hotspot for startups, especially in the technology sector. The fact that blockchain technology is applicable in various sectors has made it possible for upcoming startups to find ways of utilising the technology for the solutions they seek to provide. This was evident on Saturday when six local startups pitched their solutions to attract investors and raise funds for their businesses through tokenisation. Key speakers during the event included Michael Kimani from ChamaPesa, George Maina from Oseko & Ouma Advocates LLP, and Mr. Apollo who spoke at length on the advantages and risks that ICOs have in the cryptocurrency crowdfunding space in the country. An initial coin offering, also known as an ICO, a token sale, a crowdsaleor a token generation event, is a new form of funding that (predominantly) blockchain startups are using to raise capital for their venture. In an initial coin offering, a startup runs a crowdfunding campaign where it selling a newly-issued digital token in exchange for bitcoin (BTC) or ether (ETH). The future value of the digital token is then linked to the performance of the project. In that sense, an ICO or very similar to a stock IPO, except for the fact that the new digital token does normally not constitute a share in the company and its value is only indirectly linked to the success of the company. While speaking on ICOs in Kenya, Chris from Coinweez compared an initial coin offering to table banking in Kenya that has be Continue reading >>

Trading Platform Localethereum Updates Its Ui

Trading Platform Localethereum Updates Its Ui

Trading platform Localethereum updates its UI Ethereum exclusive, peer-to-peer trading platform Localethereum has just launched an upgraded version of its user interface, in addition to several new features that will expand traders capabilities when purchasing and selling ether (Ethereums native token) for fiat currency. According to its official blog , changes are focused on the way the site is shown. One of these is the way users can navigate throughout homepage, thanks to a revamped layout that makes it easier to use, with access to main options available one-click away instead of being hidden in a dropdown menu, and key information being displayed directly under each option, whereas in the previous version, customers had to get to these in order to view it. Another major change came to the offer management section of the trading platform. Developers rebuilt from the ground-up the way users can set up and control everything, and added a pause all button that allows high-volume traders to halt all current operations in one click. Regarding new functionalities added to this new version, the team behind Localethereum implemented a featured called price equations, which allows traders to play extensively with the exchange rate of their offers. Before, you could peg your offers to a percentage margin above or below an external market feed. While this was suitable for most traders, we found that manyneeded more detail. Now everybody has the ultimate flexibility to code their own price equations. The way it was implemented allows customers to choose one of two options: a simple, easy way that only takes into account three variables to calculate said rate: percentage margin, if this is above or below market price, and market to use; and a more complex, but more customizable Continue reading >>

How To Setup A Local Test Ethereum Blockchain

How To Setup A Local Test Ethereum Blockchain

Facebook Google Linkedin Twitter Telegram Setting up a private chain is useful for testing purposes or simply for playing around with, I couldnt find a good tutorial on it so I thought I would write my own. In this tutorial we are working on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Go Implementation of Ethereum go-ethereum or simply geth The Genesis block is the start block of the Blockchain - the first block, block 0, the only block that does not point to a predecessor block. Its the entry point into the Blockchain database. The Genesis data defines initial parameters of the database and defines a cryptographically valid entry block. You might think thats a flaw in the system being able to decide the starting conditions of the chain, but the consensus algorithm will ensure that no other node will agree with your version of the blockchain unless they have the same genesis block (and some other crucial parameters, discussed later). Great, so how do we make one of these genesis blocks? Well its fairly simple the following JSON is all you really need: { "nonce": "0x0000000000000042", "mixhash": "0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000", "difficulty": "0x4000", "alloc": {}, "coinbase": "0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000", "timestamp": "0x00", "parentHash": "0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000", "extraData": "Custem Ethereum Genesis Block", "gasLimit": "0xffffffff"} Save the JSON into a file lets call it genesis.json and save in your home directory. $ geth --genesis --datadir --networkid 123 --nodiscover --maxpeers 0 console It utilises the genesis block json to seed the blockchain It uses the datadir to store all state necessary to maintain the newly created blockchain an Continue reading >>

A Look At Localethereum's Exciting First Two Weeks - Ethereum

A Look At Localethereum's Exciting First Two Weeks - Ethereum

A Look At Localethereum's Exciting First Two Weeks Great update. I only wish I was located in a more populated area so I could sell more! I am in a really populated area, give a good price and nobody is buying or selling from me... What do I do wrong? Could be your profile. Or more likely, there are just more reputable sellers in your area. Yeah the legality of it is the only reason why I'm not doing it myself. Can I ask what country you're from? The regulations regarding over-the-counter trading vary greatly by region. Most jurisdictions are very tolerant of over-the-counter brokers, however some are far more harsh (e.g. New York). Do you see other traders in your area with high trade numbers? City population doesn't always correlate with trading volume. Hopefully we'll see more traders pop up in your area soon! The platform is definitely more popular in different areas right now, but hopefully more traders will pop up in your area soon as the numbers continue to grow. Thanks for sticking with us. I'm curious, have there been any disputes that Localethereum's had to step in as an arbitrator for yet? There have only been a few, and most of them are resolved by the parties themselves within twenty minutes. It's a bit less than we expected, considering the volume and amount of trades each day. The vast majority of our traders are very happy, and we get a lot of people telling reaching out and telling us so. There's only been one dispute so far where we've had to step in and make a resolution, and the amount disputed in that case was less than US$10. I had a bug as a seller. I funded the escrow and then the site said the trade was complete and the escrow released. The buyer paid anyway and we both thought it was done but then they marked the payment as complete and the et Continue reading >>

Recap: Roadshow In Spain Ethlend Blog

Recap: Roadshow In Spain Ethlend Blog

Last week we completed the ETHLend Spanish Roadshow. Our Founder Stani and I traveled to Spain to meet up with our Spanish community members, we spent a week traveling through Spain where we held local MeetUps in Madrid and Malaga, finishing off the roadshow with a bigger two day event at Congress International Blockchain, Tropical Coast in Motril. Our first stop on the roadshow was Madrid. Where we spent two busy days hosting two separate MeetUps. During that time we joined up with our partner, Territorio Bitcoin . There was a really great turn out and we were lucky enough to meet many of our community members. The first night we met at UrbanLabs where we spent a couple of hours delivering presentations, followed by some Spanish tapas and local beers in the next door bar. Stani explaining ETHLend platform to local Ethereumfans Day 2 was interesting where we conducted a smaller MeetUp. Probably down to Real Madrid playing against PSG, so all the die hard football fans stayed home to watch the game. Still a great event though where we had a small live panel discussion session prior to this. Stani doing his thing, mesmerizing the audience. After two days in Madrid we took off on a roadtrip heading south to the Costa del Sol, the Spanish coast of sunshine. We stayed the night in Fuengirola, which is a city with an unreasonable amount of Finnish people. Also Stani is very familiar with the city, which made everything easier. Before the roadtrip we visited the famous Plaza de Mayor in Madrid. Necessary touristselfie. From there we drove through to the University of Malaga, where we had our next MeetUp, Loads of local Ethereum enthusiasts and students on hand asking questions about ETHLend. We presented ETHLend to the attendees followed by an active Q&A session with huge int Continue reading >>

Setup A Local Ethereum Test Blockchain

Setup A Local Ethereum Test Blockchain

This guide is continually updated on the wiki. Please see there to get the latest version: . Setting-up a local test Ethereum network is very useful for playing around, test free of Ether charge and develop and its also very easy and fast. On this page, I have compiled one (of many) procedures describing how to do that. The aim was to explain a lot and make the procedure clear, so the page has become quite large. However, the entire process takes only 5 minutes and consists of around 5 Linux commands to execute (provided that Ethereum clients are installed and operational). The tutorial will be updated over time, new ideas added and improvements made. So be sure to check back from time to time :) To read more about the terminology encountered in the divers screens, have a look at my Technical Blockchain Encyclopaedia . Note: (Xi Uppercase) is the official currency symbol for Ether. I generally use to indicate Test-Ether or False-Ether, when this difference matters. Prerequisite: UBUNTU, Mint or another UBUNTU based flavor ready for use. Ethereum client installed and operational. By default, the Ethereum client stores the Blockchain data and the account data in the .ethereum folder in the users home directory. When installing a test Blockchain, potentially in parallel to the official Blockchain, we have 2 easy options to direct Ethereum to use a different data directory than the one of the principal chain: 1) For each client command invocation, we specify the alternative data directory. 2) We create a different user account that handles all things around the test Blockchain. The second solution is my favorite since its very easy to do on a Linux system and switching users adhoc is simple using the su command. The procedure described on this page uses the Linux user acco Continue reading >>

Experiences With Localethereum

I am interested in Localethereum platform. I believe that it can represent a valid alternative to other exchanges accepting fiat like Kraken and Coinbase. I have studied the rationale behind their smart contract and it seems pretty solid: The seller deposit ethers in the platform the buyer send fiat currency to the vendor as soon as the buyer receives the transaction, he can release ethers to the buyer The Localethereum team jump in only if there are disputes, otherwise, all the communications between seller and buyers are private. Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction. Advertise here. As I know, this platform was launced on October, 21. Since that time over 15 000 of people started to use it as they believe into its efficiency and trust Localethereum. The platform developers claim that Localethereum will become the safest cryptocurrency exchanger. However, the service is not free it charges 0.25% from sellers, and 0.75% from buyers.
