What You Need To Know About Mining Bitcoin In South Africa

What you need to know about mining Bitcoin in South Africa Bitcoin is the worlds most popular cryptocurrency and is being adopted as an accepted payment option across an increasing number of online storefronts, including Steam, Microsoft, and Newegg. The currency operates independently of a middleman or bank, and is regulated by a blockchain consisting of users who collaborate to record and process payments. This work is done by Bitcoin miners, who use large amounts of processing power to process transaction blocks and add them to the blockchain. Bitcoin miners use computing power to add transaction records to the blockchain, which is a public ledger of transactions. Miners earn a certain number of Bitcoins for the work they contribute to this process and are paid a transaction fee by users sending transactions. The process of mining and adding a new block to the blockchain comprises of the following steps: Insert the header of the most recent block into the new block as a hash. When a solution is discovered, the new block is added to the blockchain. The proof of work is designed to require a large amount of computational power, as this prevents the public ledger of transactions from being tampered with and controls the rate of new Bitcoins being introduced. The proof of work difficulty is updated regularly in order to maintain a controlled flow of new Bitcoins and improve the security of the system. During the infancy of Bitcoin mining, many people used desktop processors to mine Bitcoin. However, as the difficulty continued to rise with the popularity of the cryptocurrency, specialised mining hardware was developed in order for miners to remain competitive. These days, mining Bitcoin requires a large amount of investment and work to make a profit, as there are many m Continue reading >>

Bitcoin Mining South Africa - How Bitcoin Boosts Sa's Economy

Bitcoin Mining in the South African Economy Posts by : Jacques Serfontein | May 6, 2016 How Bitcoin Mining is Boosting South Africas Economy Many are unaware of the benefits that Bitcoin mining has had on the economy in South Africa, not to mention how quickly the act of mining Bitcoin has spread, mostly due to the masterminds behind www.bitmart.co.za South Africas leading distributor and support group for Bitcoin mining and related hardware. It truly is the next generations new currency. During an interview with Mr. Jacques Serfontein, the CEO of Bitmart, he revealed astounding statistics about Bitcoin mining and the profitability it holds in comparison with other means of generating income. He compared it to real estate, among other things, and explained the return on investment advantages as follows: If you were to spend R1 000 000.00 on property with the intention of renting it out, you would receive an approximate monthly income of maybe R5000.00 per month. Merely paying off the interest generated by loaning the initial amount would take years, not to mention the maintenance fees involved in upholding any propertys value. But if you were to spend just 10% of that initial investment on Bitcoin mining hardware, you can earn the same amount of monthly income in Bitcoin and pay off the loan much sooner. This means that you will start making a profit 10 times faster than you would in real estate, without the added expenses of maintaining your properties. Read the comparison here Mr. Serfontein became involved with this cryptocurrency during 2015 and has since discovered the immense income potential that lies therein. Bitcoin mining, arbitration, and trading have so many advantages and with the growing interest among South Africans, Bitmart quickly became the leading di Continue reading >>

If you are new to bitcoin and want to become part of the Bitcoin community, one of the easiest ways to do so is by getting your first bitcoins for free. In this post, you will be introduced to six easy ways to get free bitcoins online. Before you get started, you need to set up a bitcoin wallet. Probably the most popular mobile bitcoin wallet in Africa is Luno . Alternatively, you could also set up a wallet online at Blockchain.info or use the popular multi-cryptocurrency mobile wallet Jaxx . Bitcoin faucets are online systems that reward users. This is done in the form of a website or an application, which distributes the rewards in satoshis in return for exposing you to adverts. Visitors claim the satoshis (one satoshi is 0.00000001 bitcoin) by ensuring that they complete tasks the website describes. One of the best bitcoin faucets in the market is MoonBitcoin ,which lets you decide how often you want to claim. The faucet gradually fills up but then slows down over time until you make a claim. Once you have reached 10,000 satoshis they will automatically be transferred into your bitcoin wallet. South Africa, a country home for some of the most innovative startups in the world, is set for the next fintech and blockchain revolution. According to Disrupt Africa , a leading startup news platform, most of the innovations in the year 2017 will be focused on mobile payments, digital banking, Bitcoin, SME financing, data analytics, real estate and automation solutions. Interestingly, all these areas present an opportunity for the implementation of blockchain technology. [TOC] Blockchain could be the most significant social and political innovation to impact Africa in 100 years. Arian Lewis, Head of Open Innovation at Barclays. Its no secret, in South Africa and Nigeria, banks are wanting to be phone companies and in Kenya, one phone company is already the bank it is called MPesa . African banks have been a bit late to the fintech party, but since mobile phones have made such a huge impact on the financial industry in the African countries, banks are looking at this continent to test out new technologies like Bitcoin and Blockchain. To give you some perspective, MPesa, a peer-to-peer mobile money platform, owned by Kenyas Safaricom and heavily funded by Silicon Valley giants has forever changed the way people do money transactions in East Africa. They provide merchants in Kenya to accept payments through mobile phones. This has lead three-quarters of Kenyas adult population to register as MPesa users and nearly one third of the countrys GDP is now transacted through MPesa. Increasing penetration of smartphones in all of Africa is only going to further benefit MPesa and the likes in future. Interestingly, MPesa was founded by three Americans, who came up with the idea on a whiteboard in a Seattle basement, before bringing it to Kenya. African technology companies absol Continue reading >>

by Julia McGovern | Mar 12, 2015 | Bitcoin Talks Every day, Bitcoin the cryptocurrency and Bitcoin the technology gets more popular. When in 2011 you had to write a person from the other continent to order a pizza for you with Bitcoins, now you can do something like that in a number of major cities. In some countries like the Netherlands, the entire towns are Bitcoin-friendly (such as Arnhem, often called the Bitcoin city) now with a range of services available for those who are willing to pay with BTC. The more ways are there to spend the cryptocurrency, the more ways are there to obtain them. Let us look at some of the approaches to help you earn Bitcoins online. The very first way to get your own Bitcoins was through mining. In 2009, every block mined (every 10 minutes on average) brought a reward of 50 BTC to the lucky one who managed to solve the computational problem. Right now, every block brings 12,5 BTC. While the reward is still luring, there are some issues which stand in the way of earning some loot: The hashing difficulty has grown significantly over the last years. No single equipment has enough computational power to compete for Bitcoins. In hope for some reward, people are forced to unite in pools or use cloud mining services. Even when the efforts are combined, there is still need to pay for the electricity, and the utility bills often exceed the mining reward. All these factors make Bitcoin mining these days unprofitable. This makes us move forward to the next strategy of earning Bitcoins online. If mining is not for you, you can search for work that you can do for Bitcoins. There are multiple services that will offer one an opportunity to work for cryptocurrency. You can find something at Coinality or by just going to /r/Jobs4Bitcoins on Reddit. Curr Continue reading >>

How Not To Make Money With Bitcoin As A South African - Imod

How Not To Make Money With Bitcoin As A South African - Imod

HOW NOT TO MAKE MONEY WITH BITCOIN AS A SOUTH AFRICAN Let me warn you, this is going to be a bit of a rant and if youre not in the mood for one rather scroll down a little to where I want to offer some tips. Whilst the rest of the world made an absolute killing on Bitcoin yesterday thanks to China , most of us South Africans sat and watched with envy. See, China went ahead and does what China often does .. moaned about something Internet related. This time it was about Bitcoin and guess what happened? The price of Bitcoin plunged from $1200 odd down to around $560 over night. Of course, the price drop was caused through the fear of the general public, but those who do a bit of trading on any form of stock market will know that this is often a really good time to quickly snap up stock and thats exactly what we should have been doing. Ive learnt a fair bit about trading and one thing I try to do is predict what the general uninformed public will do and try to trade in and around them to my benefit. Anyway, China isnt the be all and end all, what they say isnt the last word and with the US releasing various statements about Bitcoin being a major player for eCommerce (amongst plenty of other things) is was blindingly obvious that the price would rise again as the dust settled. So, based on the reading Ive done and my understanding of Bitcoin and various market places I figured the price would move up from $560 to around half way between $560 and $1200 fairly quickly. When a stock is so volatile and large corporations are publishing all sorts of speculative information, the price is going to rise and fall a few times in the case of Bitcoin, because its unregulated, theres more chance of this rather than a stock which could do a huge drop and not recover so quickly. Being fa Continue reading >>
