Hi :)Im fairly new to the Ethereum mining "scene", but im wondering if anyone else out there is using a GTX1070 (or maybe the 1060).I have my 1070 underclocked currently (to the absolute minimum, around -400MHz, which results in 1480 MHz @ 0.8V), and I'm currently trying to overclock my memory to the max as it is the limiting factor in ethereum mining. Currently set memory clock to +450 in MSI afterburner ("new" BIOS for the Micron memory i have), and it will also be applied in benchmarks like Unigine Heaven, but it wont be fully applied while mining O.oInstead of 4452 MHz i only get 4252 MHz :/ On stock settings i had average 25MH/s (75% TDP), now im at around 28 MH/s with only ~50% TDP. 100% TDP is 200W for my card if i can trust GPU-Z with that. What kind of settings do the "professionals" use for mining? As for problems at 800 memory, maybe it was only because the power limit was normal allowing the core clock to get too high with the memory. With the recent addition of Bitcoin Gold to the portfolio of ASIC-resistant coins and Ethereum price having a steady upward trend, This motivates me to keep trying the newest GPUs for mining in the hope of finding the next jackpot. Or at least, I hope to find a decent alternative to our beloved RX 4xx and 5xx cards. Today, Im reviewing the brand new GTX 1070 Ti the newest addition to the family of mid-high-end GPUs. The GTX 1070 Ti is being advertised as a new-gen gaming GPU with a ton of features that should make it interesting for gamers. Besides those Im going to list in a minute, the 1070 Ti also got great aesthetics for instance, the color of its LED logo and lights can be tweaked so it matches the color of the rig, the shape and color of the board looks great on its own, etc. All of this means that the card will probably will be available for sale for a short period of time. I can already picture hordes of hungry gamers ripping the cards off the shelves. Or is that so? Ironically, as for today, gaming gear sites havent been really excited when reviewing the 1070 Ti, which gives us some hopes. Apparently gamers arent really thrilled about the card, since it performs not better than the AMD RX Vega 64 and only about 8% better than the GTX 1070. 8% is good improvement, but it only serves to compensate the price difference. Today we're going to take a quick look at how current generation GPUs, along with a few older ones, perform when put to the task of Ethereum mining . Cryptocurrency mining is big news at the moment and it seems just about everyone wants in on the action. We are often asked what the best GPUs to mine with are, and since we didnt have an exact answer we decided to find out. First, I should note that performance can vary significantly depending on the display driver used, the software client used, and the configuration of the graphics card, so please take this as a rough performance guide. Initially I started testing with the go-ethereum client but started to find mixed results with certain GPUs, I wasnt sure why that was and couldnt solve a few issues, so I scrapped the results and moved on. Parity is another popular client, but instead I decided to use Claymores Dual Ethereum miner version 9.6 for a few reasons. Number one was it worked really well with the current generation AMD and Nvidia GPUs. Second, I worked out a way to benchmark using different DAG (directed acyclic graph) file sizes. Chances are the other clients can do this as well, I just didnt work out how. I felt it important to test various DAG file sizes to show future performance as well. As the DAG file size increases, so too does the difficulty. A new DAG is generated for each epoch around every 30,000 blocks and right now it is estimated that this will happen every 4 days or so.
