Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash Both sites offer the ability to buy and sell cryptocurrency with bank transfers & wires. However, Coinbase also allows you to make purchases with debit cards and credit cards. Additionally, Coinbase allows you to sell cryptocurrency in exchange for PayPal funds. Coinbase supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash. Gemini only supports Bitcoin and Ethereum. User Experience and Beginner Friendliness Overall, were big fans of the user experience on both Coinbase and Gemini. The two sites do however function a bit differently. Coinbase works more like a cryptocurrency store, than it does a traditional exchange. Instead of having you trade with other users on an exchange, Coinbase directly facilitates users buy and sell orders. All thats required to place a buy order on Coinbase is to choose your cryptocurrency and the amount of it you want to buy. The price and fees will be clearly displayed at the time of your order. Purchases made via credit card are completed instantly, allowing you to immediately send the cryptocurrency you purchased. For some users, purchases made through bank accounts are also instant. This is a new feature of Coinbase, thats being slowly unveiled. If you are not eligible for instant buys with a bank account, your purchase price will be locked in when you place your order. Youll then received the specified amount o Continue reading >>

Which is better? I know Gemini is an actual exchange and Coinbase uses Bitfinex (I believe) but is it just as safe to hold bitcoin on each platform, etc? *I know that in general it's not safe to hold bitcoin on any exchange... that said, just wanted to get your thoughts deposits are credited right away for trading. Can withdraw after clearing bank cancels orders left and right for god knows what reason suspends your account whenever for god knows what considerable markup compared to current price blames everything on their fraud prevention software doesnt seem like any humans are left running the show You always run the risk keeping coin on any exchange. Move it to a wallet you control whenever you can...Period... Most accurate thing I have seen especially their "suspicious activity" / fraud prevention that is flaws to the extreme. If you buy in dips and spend the majority of your funds, then expect it to cancel due to "suspicious activity". Their fraud prevention will not see it as you buying in a dip, but instead as using most of your funds and that by itself is suspicious to their fraud prevention software. Extremely flawed no wonder one of their top officials resigned. Coinbase have appalling customer service, it's quite strange, as if they almost dislike their customers. For a nice example, I spent about 5 hours repeatedly re-uploading my passport photo because they accepted it, then their system 20 minutes later automatically rejected it. Their response to my support email was to tell me my email did not have an account with them. When I pointed out to them that they had been sending numerous automated emails asking me to fund my account to email so it must have an account with them and explained I would share this on Reddit they immediately banned me and my acco Continue reading >>

Howeverno funds are available in my account. Okey I think, maybe it did not arrive. Funds are still not available, so I opened a Gemini support ticket. Tried alsocalling the phone number on their website and messaging them on Facebook. They did not reply. I finally had a response on my support ticket, asking me if I was sure it was awire and not an ACH push. Called my bank to get the wire receipt, and emailed it to Gemini. Gemini replies back asking for the Federal Reference Number, stating that they still don't have the funds on their account. Sent it back to them the sameday. Waiting for a response. I have tried calling, emailing them, opening support tickets. Nothing. Totalradio silence. Asked my bank what I could do, and they suggested me to get the wire back. I started the procedure, but Silvergate (Gemini's bank) told me they can't wire the money back until Gemini approves the refund. So back to square one. I don't know what to do now. I have tried everything. I would prefer to avoidlegal action, since I have never done that, and I am scared that Gemini couldthreaten me to close my account, or counter sue me. I just want my money back. Continue reading >>

Gdax Vs Gemini Exchange Comparison

Gdax Vs Gemini Exchange Comparison

If you have an intermediate understanding of investing, GDAX and Gemini are good platforms to begin trading cryptocurrency. These platforms provide a simplified exchange experience with enough bells and whistles to keep the average user happy. Both platforms are also a good next step if youre looking to move beyond the more simple and limited features of exchanges such as Coinbase . In this GDAX vs Gemini review, well show you the differences between the two exchanges , so that you can make an informed decision of which is best for you. Both Gemini and GDAX allow you to fund your account in three primary ways bank transfers (ACH), wire transfers, and cryptocurrency deposits. Additionally, GDAX accepts fund transfers from Coinbase accounts instantly and without fees. This makes for a smooth transition if you had previously been using Coinbase but want to switch to an exchange with more robust features. On the other hand, Gemini is a solid option if youre trying to invest as soon as possible. Gemini allows you to buy and trade before your funds are approved in your account. Although you wont be able to withdraw until your initial funds are approved, you can lock-in coins at a certain price without worrying about their price going up in the meantime. GDAX offers a slightly more advanced trading experience than Gemini with options such as margin trading and stop orders. At first glance, the exchange may look intimidating to new investors because of the constant movement of buy/sell orders across the screen. However, after the first use, I found this to be one of the best-designed layouts of the exchanges Ive used. Subjectively, the Gemini platform is aesthetically pleasing but difficult for analysis. The order book table is hidden behind a small button and the order book c Continue reading >>

Goodby Coinbase, Hello Gemini - Bitcoin

Goodby Coinbase, Hello Gemini - Bitcoin

Coinbase is just trash, from customer service (respond times) to unbelievably long verification wait times is a joke. (not to mention closing of accounts without notice/major security breaches) Hello Gemini, only read good things about it compared to other trusted trading sites. Anyone else find themselves switching platforms? I like coinbase. I have a high weekly buy limit and they haven't stranded me yet. So you guys want to be rebels not give up any information but want high limits? sorry, that's not how it works. They provide a service so they have to follow the laws of each state or country they do business in. My "bank account is under review." God only knows why. I gave them every piece of identification documentation a girl could ever dream of. The next thing they'll want is my first born child. Everyone LOVES to talk about how BTC is free of government meddling, but I'm sure the long lag time is due to heavy compliance compliance. I'm personally fine with compliance, just hurry your ass up coinbase. I too am thinking about moving to Gemini. People that believe "BTC is free of government meddling" don't have a very keen sense of government/the law. That is one of several issues with consumers going through exchanges but have no other option if they don't want to pay $200+ markup on ATM's exchange. Coinbase is doing good considering how much business they transact. How do you know Gemini won't also become the same when it gets to a similar size? Coinbase is doing good considering how much business they transact. How do you know Gemini won't also become the same when it gets to a similar size? One might hope that one might plan ahead if one is anticipating a rise in customers. I believe it's been this bad for well over a year now. So they've had time to fix this. Continue reading >>

Review Of 5 Cryptocurrency Exchanges -- Poloniex, Bittrex, Kraken, Liqui, And Gemini : Cryptomarkets

Review Of 5 Cryptocurrency Exchanges -- Poloniex, Bittrex, Kraken, Liqui, And Gemini : Cryptomarkets

Liquidity - Polo is king in this category, thanks to market entrenchment. Others are pretty similar, depending on which coins you're looking at, but Liqui's books are wafer thin. Market Selection - Polo and Bittrex both have a wide variety of coins. Liqui doesn't have a ton of different coins but they do have almost every ERC-20 token, which is awesome for my personal interest. Gemini only trades BTC and ETH. Polo and Liqui offer the best selection of base currencies, having markets denominated in ETH and USDT as well as BTC. Recently Bittrex has started to add ETH denominated markets for ERC-20 tokens, as well. KYC - Liqui is the clear winner on this category, requiring no KYC and having no withdrawal limits. Bittrex is the runner up as their KYC approval is automated where possible, for me it took only 10 minutes. Gemini was manual approval but pretty fast, Polo and Kraken were both rather slow (multiple weeks) because there's a lot of traders trying to get verified on their system. Server Lag - Both Gemini and Bittrex earn top marks in this category, rarely if ever experiencing any technical issues. Liqui is a close runner up, a couple times have had slowdown to do DDOS but not often. Kraken is decent, and Polo is constantly having slowdown issues. Support - All exchanges have been experiencing a bit of backlog due to the recent surge in interest. Bittrex and Liqui both close most issues within a week, often faster. Ive had quite a few experiences with Polo having tickets open for multiple weeks, hence the low grade. I havent had to use Gemini or Kraken support much. The one time I needed Gemini support it was something stupid I did and they helped me out in a few minutes. Withdrawal / Deposit - This category is for how often an exchange has issue with deposits and Continue reading >>

Thoughts On Gemini? - Bitcoin

Thoughts On Gemini? - Bitcoin

Anyone have any current thoughts on the Gemini exchange? Is it backlogged like the rest or are the rumors true?; shoddy operation with bad infrastructure and zero customer support. Gemini is great. Very limited but works exceptionally well in my exp. as a good alternative to your favorite flavor of the month. Gemini should especially be considered for it's ability to properly register businesses. Zero problems here and it's USA based so if they screw you, you can hire a lawyer. Not fdic insured but bonded I think. The usd inside gemini are fdic insured, however the cryptocurrencies aren't. sumbitted ID verification over 3 weeks ago, not a word from Gemini always takes a lot longer than they say - but the fees are low so i use it. Are you using it for a starting point to invest into other altcoins/transfer to dif exchanges? I'm in New York State so my options are limited as well. May just wait for Gemini to verify. I used them for a while and they were great, fees were 0.25% for limit orders though, and GDAX is 0... so I switched. Gemini defaults you to $100k daily bank transfers which is nice, but Ive read theres more bots on their exchange than others meaning you could place a limit order and bot will immediately jump in front of you, I never experienced this (just read about it). Yeah if this were 0 Id probably still use them Yeah if this were 0 Id probably still use them A quarter on a $100 purchase - that's too much? Fees are fees. Do you get refunded that fee if you cancel your order? I love using that exchange over the other options although the only potential downside is youre limited to BTC and ETH only...which is fine with me personally. I spent several weeks waiting on their customer support to find my funds that were missing in the deposit transfer. Enourmou Continue reading >>

Gemini Is Freakin' Amazing

Gemini Is Freakin' Amazing

I used to use Coinbase for dozens of purchases over the years, but I will never use them again. I, like many people, had a transaction cancelled by them for no apparent reason. I used Gemini for my past 2 BTC purchases, and here are the great things: I just put in a support ticket with them and they emailed me back in FOUR MINUTES. T-Mobile's short code server is down, so they instructed me to use Authy for my 2FA, which literally could not have been easier The fees are low - just a fraction of what you will pay Coinbase. The concept is kind of the same in the end. With Gemini, you add a bank account and get verified just like coinbase, and then you initiate an ACH transfer from your bank, which you can use to buy BTC immediately. You cant withdraw until the transfer goes through, but you can place a market order for BTC immediately, and play around with it until the transfer completes. The process is just as easy as with Coinbase, but with higher limits. The user interface at Gemini is much better. Continue reading >>

For newcomers looking to find a place to buy cryptocurrencies , like Bitcoin and Ethereum, theres no shortage of options. Gemini and Coinbase are two of the most often recommended options and for good reason. In this Coinbase vs Gemini review, well show you the differences between the two options, so that you can make an informed decision of which is best for you. Two Different Ways to Buy Cryptocurrencies While both of these sites can be used to buy cryptocurrencies, they work differently. Coinbase directly facilitates the sale of Bitcoin , Ethereum , and Litecoin to their users. When you buy cryptocurrency from their site, there is a set price at the time of your purchase. You can think of Coinbase as a cryptocurrency retail store. Most other sites where users can buy cryptocurrency operate as an exchange. They work similarly to a forex or stock exchange. Gemini Vs Coinbase

Gemini Vs Coinbase

Which exchange is better Coinbase or Gemini? In my humble opinion Gemini runs laps around Coinbase when it comes to turning USD into BTC. The reason being on Coinbase when I buy my BTC I buy it First at a higher rate than they actually are quoting on their exchange (roughly $25 to $100 more). Secondly although I bought the BTC I cannot trade the BTC until the transaction clears which takes about 4 to 5 days (which is horrible if I bought fairly low and Bitcoin runs up to all-time highs then corrects before I get my BTC ). Thirdly Coinbase has shown utter incompetence and market manipulation with their actions. Now let's get to why Gemini is a superior exchange. First when you transfer money from your bank account to Gemini's exchange it is immediately available for you to buy or sell BTC with (although it does still take 4 to 5 days to verify the transaction so there's a hold on your USD withdrawals until it clears). Secondly the owners of Gemini own more than a billion dollars worth of bitcoin which means they care about the long-term success of Bitcoin unlike the people who run coinbase who are only about maximizing profits. Thirdly the Gemini exchange tends to sell BTC at a lower rate than coinbase which can offer you chances to Arbitrage when that difference increases from time to time (the main downside to Gemini is that you can only buy or sell USD BTC and ETH) But the choice is yours and don't forget to #HODL MY COINBASE: Weekly buy limit $250(bank transfer, FEE 1.49%), Weekly sell limit $15,000(bank transfer) MY GEMINI: Weekly buy limit $3,500(bank transfer, FEE .25%), Weekly sell limit $700,000(bank transfer) Continue reading >>

Just A Heads Up - Gemini Is Slammed Right Now As Many Of Us Are Leaving Coinbase - Bitcoin

Just a heads up - Gemini is slammed right now as many of us are leaving Coinbase Im switching some stuff over from Coinbase to Gemini and just got this message from their system when trying to create a deposit address - "We are verifying your identity and will be in touch shortly. Gemini is currently experiencing extremely high application volume and there may be delays as the compliance team completes the review of your application." The US scene should NEVER have been so dominated by a single player. This fucking blows the way that Coinbase did this, but its going to result in other players like Gemini rising and being given the chance to not make the same mistakes Coinbase just made. I had some questions and found their F.A.Q. knowledge/base having every answer I needed and I was surprised by their notification system - in a good way. Too much detail at first, but very high resolution information to start with. I searched their knowledge base for "segwit" to see if they were using segwit addresses and had zero results returned. A google search shows that they're not using segwit addresses, but apparently they've been "segwit ready" for months now. Hoping they implement it soon since their volume is likely about to skyrocket. They took 6 weeks to verify my identity and this was back in April/May. I emailed them every 2 weeks to bug them too. Coinbase responded within 12 hours. They will of course, but that is just the nature of things. These are the same people who want youtube to be free from ads AND don't want to pay a subscription to upload hours upon hours of HD video and stream it to the world on someone else's infrastructure. We are in still the growing phase. Hopefully in a year or so we can have users spread out over several trustworthy exchanges and not just Continue reading >>
