The #Flippening: Will Ether 'Pass' Bitcoin And What Would It Mean? No stranger to strange milestones, the cryptocurrency sector may soon see a historic first, one that could upend long-held perceptions of its market. Branded'The Flippening' by market observers, this new hypothetical is defined loosely as the point at which a competing blockchain network could replace bitcoin as the largest and best capitalized blockchain. Sparked by increasing inflows in cryptographic assets, the concept has already seen a dedicated hashtag and website . Given that bitcoin invented and popularized blockchain systems, the development could herald a time of new diversity and experimentation for the nascent sector that, until recently, was largely defined in context of bitcoin. At earlier points in 2017, bitcoin accounted for more than 80% of the total cryptocurrency market share, though this figure has been higher than 90% at times. However, so-called alternative cryptocurrencies have drawn robust inflows this year, causing their total market cap to reach a record high of roughly $117bn today, a more than 500% year-to-date increase, according to CoinMarketCap. So, will the event come to pass? And if so, what will it mean? Analysts queried by CoinDesk largely believe ethereum's ether token is most likely to spur the change, given it has increased 3,000% this year with no signs of slowing. Indeed, ether's market cap has been drawing steadily close to bitcoin's amid a broader uptick in interest for so-called 'tokens' based on the platform , with the two cryptocurrencies worth $35.9bn and $43.7bn at the time of report. Still, while some analysts focused on the promise of the ethereum network, others emphasized the perceived difficulties bitcoin has encountered of late as the reason this deve Continue reading >>

Bitcoin Price Update: Ethereum Will Triple In Price And Overcome The Competition | City & Business | Finance | Express.co.uk

Bitcoin price THREAT: 'Ethereum price will TRIPLE!' Founder says it WILL surpass bitcoin BITCOIN price could soon be threatened by the growing cryptocurrency Ethereum as co-founder Steven Nerayoff predicts his creation will triple in value by the end of the year. Bitcoin price could be surpassed by ethereum as the cryptocurrency continues to surge in the virtual currencies market. Steven Narayoff, co-founder of ethereum said he is confident his cryptocurrency will triple in value by the end of 2018. In an interview with CNBC , he said: I think what weve seen with ethereum is an excellent increase in a number of projects that have been built on there. Bitcoin price threatened: 'Ethereum will triple in price', says co-founder Steven Narayoff I can see there are billions of dollars being poured into the ecosystem right now, giving ten thousands more projects this year than there were last year. I think it could easily triple the price before the end of the year. It is very likely it will surpass bitcoin. Mr Narayoff explained that with the increasing interest of the public in cryptocurrencies and his assertion that ethereum is more useful than bitcoin as it has already been used as a currency, ethereums growth could be exponential. It is very likely it will surpass bitcoin Mr Narayoff former partner, Charles Hopkinson said the cryptocurrency market will strengthen further but only after a crash. He said: My personal opinion is that we're going to see a consolidation after a crash. "What's going to occur is a lot of these ventures that don't have strong fundamentals, don't havegood techor just unrealistic projects, they will eventually run into some major wall they can't quite overcome. They will fracture up and you will see a lot of them are certain to fail." Everything y Continue reading >>

Wil Ethereum Surpass Bitcoin In The Long Term?

Wil Ethereum Surpass Bitcoin In The Long Term?

I don't think it will surpass it before 5 or 10 years. In the mind of neophytes, the only crypto currency is Bitcoin. Medias only know Bitcoin. So when people will really be interested in blockchain and crypto currency, they all will go on Bitcoin, because it's the famous one. When the whole world will be pluged in with crypto, they will start to check what is around it, and they will discover contracts, services, and the companies will (thay already did) start working on blockchain services and use some concepts, like ethereum or maybe other new ones. In the same time, Bitcoin will arrive at it cap, and all the coins will be mined, so those coins will take again some value for their rarity. After some years, when the usefullness of BTC will start to decrease (because nearly all the coins that are currency are currently faster and safer than BTC). Then, maybe, ETH will start to surpass BTC. In any way, both of them will be surely very high and will take value with time. Every thing here is, of course, pure hypothesis Quote from: cryptopher1 on October 23, 2017, 08:04:10 AM Bitcoin ofcouse is the main cryptocurrency but what do you guys think of long term value of Ethereum? seems that developers do not like it much but its applications seems limitless. could it surpass bitcoin in future? I agree many crypto enthusiast was already using the ethereum blockchain ,I think the more people adapt to it the larger it's value will increase , so right now I am Holding some amount of ethereum and stored it to some secured wallet because I know in no time it could surpass the bitcoin value Quote from: cryptopher1 on October 23, 2017, 08:04:10 AM Bitcoin ofcouse is the main cryptocurrency but what do you guys think of long term value of Ethereum? seems that developers do not like it Continue reading >>

Ethereum To Overtake Bitcoin By 2018, Says Crypto Hedge Fund Ceo

Ethereum To Overtake Bitcoin by 2018, Says Crypto Hedge Fund CEO Matthew Neuteboom June 2, 2017 7:00 am Olaf Carlson-Wee, CEO ofhedge fund Polychain Capital, says Bitcoin may lose its edge over Ethereum as soon as the end of next year. With the highest market share and price, Bitcoin remains the most popular cryptocurrency today. The aggressive growth of Ethereum, the markets second-most popular cryptocurrency, has led Carlson-Wee to predict in an interview with Bloomburg that it will overtake Bitcoin by the end of 2018. He even speculates thatthe market cap of Ethereum will surpassthat ofBitcoin before the end of this year. He explained: What weve seen in Ethereum is a much richer, organic developer ecosystem develop very, very quickly, which is what has driven Ethereums price growth, which has actually been much more aggressive than Bitcoin. The value of Bitcoin has skyrocketed more than 500% since this time last year. It currently stands at around $2,500 USD, more than ten times the value of ETH. Nevertheless, Ethereum has grown even faster, and is now worth more than 20 times its value just four months ago. Additionally, Ethereum has slowly creeped into Bitcoins market share, which has tumbled to nearly half its 90%stakejust four months ago. In that same time frame, ithas quadrupledits market share to 30%. Given current trends, it would not be surprising to see Ethereum take the lead within even a few months. Proponents of Ethereum claim it offers numerous advantages , the most important of which is that it acts as a smart contract system. Ethereum allows decentralized apps to be built on its blockchain, creating a synergistic effect that increases its value as more projects are added to it. Each projectbecomes a multiplier on the existing value of our system, resu Continue reading >>

Ethereum Much More Likely Than Not To Overtake Bitcoin This Year Says Roger Ver

Ethereum Much More Likely Than Not To Overtake Bitcoin This Year Says Roger Ver

Ethereum Much More Likely Than Not to Overtake Bitcoin This Year Says Roger Ver Roger Ver, a very early bitcoin adopter and now a strong supporter of bitcoin cash, stated that ethereum is much more likely than not to overtake bitcoin. If you look at it, ethereum only has to double in price one more time in order to surpass bitcoins market cap, Roger Ver said before further adding: Ethereum was around $100 dollars maybe a year ago and now its at $800. So it went up 8x last year. I think another doubling for ethereum all the innovation and stuff that is happening. Ethereums price was actually at around $15 a year ago before it begun a bull run for much of spring to a high of around $420, followed by a bearish summer and then a bullish autumn. In a wide-ranging interview Roger Ver further said bitcoin had already lost the top spot to ethereum in a number of metrics. He said: For example in terms of the number of transactions per day, ethereum is already processing far more transactions per day then Bitcoin Core. On some days altcoins have also surpassed Bitcoin Core in term of the volume on the exchanges that are being traded. So by a number of metrics Bitcoin Core is no longer the top cryptocurrency, but when it loses that top spot in overall market cap I think it will be a real wake up call for people around the world. The interviewer then asked: it is likely then ethereum is going to overtake Bitcoin Core in terms of market cap this year? With Roger Ver stating:Yeah, I think it is much more likely than not. This prediction has been made by many, including the Silicon Valley VC Fred Wilson who stated back in May last year ethereum will bypass bitcoin in market cap. Bitcoin however has shown considerable resilience and the gap between the two has slightly increased recen Continue reading >>

Do You Think That Ethereum Will Overtake Bitcoin As New Leader Of Crypto Currencies ?

Do You Think That Ethereum Will Overtake Bitcoin As New Leader Of Crypto Currencies ? Do you think that Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin as new leader of crypto currencies ? Do you think that ethereum will overtake Bitcoin as new leader of crypto currencies ? There was once a rumour of the "Flippening" that it for sure one day would happen. Price wise I dont think it will ever over take Bitcoin.. It could definitely overtake it as #1 currency with the amount circulation and the price it self... Bitcoin will forever be the GOLD standard. Everything pegged in bitcoin.. I highly doubt there will be a day that Ethereum is worth over 1.0 bitcoin but it could definitely be the #1 crypto if the price goes high enough with ease. If it were to reach 1200+ with the amount in circulation it would be #1 for market cap. ETH got PUMP to $300 just because Jp Morgan have purchased one of its features for their own smart contract platform. The same they did for ZECC and both in the same month. As you might remember we had the Summer 2017 Mining Boom started and the price of graphic cards got pump either. Up to +25% lol. Unfortunately I was just passing by for my gaming card and I got farmed by those leeches. And BTC has more deep history behind it and nobody even knows who the hell that Satoshi guy was. So it's #1 since Continue reading >>

Now, in running Polychain Capital the spaces most dominant digital assets hedge fund to date Carlson-Wee is fostering a unique macro perspective in recent months. Why unique? Because Carlson-Wees personal vantage point has made him perhaps the first person to go so far as to project Ethereum overtaking Bitcoins position as the number one cryptocurrency by market cap in 2018. Bold, to be sure. But Carlson-Wee has his reasons, as expressed in a new December 1st interview with Bloomberg: Last time I was on here I said Ethereum would pass bitcoin by the end of 2018. I would actually hold to that right now I would. Its because of the more advanced capabilities of the protocol, so the types of things were seeing built on Ethereum are almost a bit sci-fi. Its beyond anything that you would reasonably think was possible. So, to me, a lot of what Im interested in are the applications that will be natively enabled by this technology. Not an improvement in payment speed or an improvement in store of wealth, where there are many other services that offer those things. But like the internet, the most breakthrough things built on the internet were not possible in an analog world. [With] Facebook, say, there was not an offline version of Facebook. So what Im looking for and what Im excited about are those uses cases that are natively en Continue reading >>

Will Ethereum Overtake Bitcoin?

Will Ethereum Overtake Bitcoin?

The latest dramatic rise in cryptocurrency prices has come to an abrupt halt. Many coins are down by double figure percentage points with only a handful of cryptocurrencies avoiding the impact of this current sell off. One cryptocurrency that is defying the downward trend is Ethereum. As the media switches their attention to productless tokens with Twitter-happy CEOs, Ether quietly breaks through numerous all time highs with transactions/day on the network exceeding 1,300,000. A first (by some distance) for any blockchain. Ethereums relative lack of media attention should come as some welcome respite. Ethereum, like Bitcoin, is a victim of its own success. Both blockchains have become so popular that their networks are congested, dramatically increasing transaction times and the overall reliability of transfers; any further attention given to Ethereum will only go so far as to demonstrate that this technology is not quite ready. But despite its lack of readiness, Ethereum appears set to dominate headlines as it edges ever closer to supplanting Bitcoin as the top currency by market cap, something that may happen sooner than many had expected. For all of Ethereums failings (and there are failings), its long-term potential to achieve dominance as a global store of value, payment network and smart contract protocol are second to none. Ethereum is on the cusp of another explosion in adoption and price. Many people in this space have previously avoided any references to Ethereum as a store of value. A globally accepted (digital) store of value requires (among other things) stability and security of its protocol, an accomplishment well and truly achieved by Bitcoin. Ethereum on the other hand, has a protocol which is scheduled to go through a number of upgrades, each carrying Continue reading >>

Is Ethereum On Its Way To Surpassbitcoin?

Is Ethereum On Its Way To Surpassbitcoin?

Is Ethereum on its Way to SurpassBitcoin? We are all aware that Bitcoin is breaking records with its worth surging day-by-day. With all the limelight on Bitcoin, we are missing that other cryptocurrencies are also on the rise. Ethereum is performing at an increasing rate, having surpassed USD 410 for the first time since June. According to CoinMarketcap, Ethereum is currently trading at USD 522, with a market cap of over USD 48 billion, officially becoming the best performing cryptocurrency in the market year-to-date. Believe it or not, this year alone saw Ethereums price increase being more impressive than Bitcoin. Does this mean that it is on its way to catching up with Bitcoin? Possibly. At the rate it is going, it looks like Bitcoin will not be the only high rising cryptocurrency. A number of analysts believe that the rise is mainly due to the growth of the ICO market. Figures show that by the end of the year, ICOs are to have raised a total of USD 3 billion, backed by the fact that USD 2.8 billion has been secured by ICO projects during this year so far. The increasing amount of activity from Ethereum developers, who are implementing new technologies to improve the cryptos network also plays a role in the rise of Ethereum this year. Seems like Bitcoin is not the only game changer. With nearly USD 12 million raised by trade.io just in the pre-ICO phase, a huge response is expected when the ICO starts on December 5th; and with 1 ETH = 625 Trade Tokens. Now is your time to invest and have your share of the crypto market. Pre-register today: Continue reading >>

Will Ethereum surpass Bitcoin? If so, how long would it take? Should I purchase it now for the future? How to find the true investor in you. Take our test. Whether a seasoned investor or just starting out, why not get to know yourself a little better? higher token value? Would mean that 1 ETH worth more than 1 BTC. As of today were quite far from it is ETH ~$230 and BTC ~$2400 (>x10) higher market cap? Were half the way! Thats, to my mind, what I would call surpass. I guess it will. higher volume? Interesting metric as well. It could show how much a token is actually used (exchanged). These day ETH is really close to BTC. Nobody can guarantee the future of cryptocurrency especially since they are still fairly new compared to fiat currency. With lots of room for growth which might result in a surge of value, many new types of Crptos are being created daily. With investors investing in almost every sort of new kind of Crptocurrency in the hopes that all of it would surpass Eth or Bitcoins or explode in an exponential growth. Regarding ETH surpassing Bitcoin i personally do not think that it would happen as only 21million Bitcoins. If you have extra cash to invest why not diversify a little of your capitial into both. However only invest as much as you are willing to lose. Continue reading >>

Trying to Overtake Bitcoin, Ether Is Chased Down by a Different Rival Bitcoin offshoot surging after Coinbase enables trading Ether pursuit of top spot among cryptos on hold for now The pursuer is about to get caught from behind. Bitcoin cash, a spinoff that emerged in August following a heated debate in the cryptocurrency community over how to make transactions more efficient, is on the brink of overtaking ether as the second most valuable digital coin by market value. It wasnt supposed to go like that. For months, Ethereum enthusiasts have been waiting for what they call the flippening, the day when ethers market value overtakes bitcoin. Now, its bitcoin cash thats tracked down ether, with its price surging 62 percent since Coinbase enabled trading in it Tuesday. That pushed its market cap as high as $73 billion today, compared with ethers $79 billion valuation, according to data on Coinmarketcap.com. Thats not to say ethers been slumping. Its value has soared by $50 billion since the end of October. Bitcoin, though, has almost tripled in that time to just under $300 billion. Bitcoin spinoff gains on crypto cousin ether For Roger Ver, one of the earliest promoters of bitcoin, the offshoots rise has only started -- and bitcoin itself had better watch out. Ethereum Will Pass Bitcoin In 2018: My Cryptocurrency Investment Portfolio

product leader, e-commerce expert, writer, blockchain, 95percent.io contributor Ethereum will pass Bitcoin in 2018: my cryptocurrency investment portfolio In the last few days, many have asked about my investment strategy and portfolio mix after writing 95Percent s: Blockchain Technology . After much deliberation, in this post, Ive decided to share my holdings with you. Perhaps more importantly, Ive decided to also share my underlying philosophy. As a reminder, I know nothing. None of this should be construed as investment advice, and you should do your own research before making any investments. I would be financially okay if I lost all of my invested money: you should make sure you could survive a total loss before investing any funds. But enough of that, how should you approach investing in cryptocurrencies? First, I advocate creating your own investment tenets. Tenets are also a crucial aspect of the product management process. I recommend creating tenets before diving into any business, project or problem. Each tenet expresses the conflict arising from two (or more) competing philosophies Each tenet ultimately demonstrates preference for one philosophy over others Most people have their own philosophies and preferences, but they dont write them down. Writing them out is crucial because it crystalizes your thinking. Tenets are helpful when times are good and indispensable when things get tough. You should debate your tenets heavily with family, friends, and yourself. Below I share five of my cryptocurrency investment tenets: Jasons Cryptocurrency Tenets [January 2018] 1) I will prioritize platform investments (think Ethereum) over application investments (think Dash). Strong infrastructure scales and changes the world. Successful applications are hard to predict an Continue reading >>

They identified ethereum and stellar lumens as the two top cryptos to watch this year and even anticipate that ethereums market cap will grow more than bitcoins in 2018. But experts still think bitcoin will maintain the highest value per unit by 31 December they speculated that it will reach nearly $30,000, while predicting that ethereum will hit $2,550. Weve seen truly mind-bending appreciation (like Ethereums 50X gains YTD) and witnessed the beginnings of countless new projects. In all the funding frenzy, weve also likely sown the seeds of some of the larger calamities that will befall the space. One thing is certain: this technology has been distilled to practice and open sourced to world. Its out of (Pandoras?) box, and theres no putting it back. Pundits are quick to argue, given wild asset appreciation, that we are in something that looks like the internet bubble. Even if this is true, the question is whether this is the year 1994 or the very twilight of 1999.So without further ado, lets make our way to 2022, and see what world we may be inheriting. 1.
