Wallets - Are There Other Vanity Address Generators Available? - Ethereum Stack Exchange

Are there other Vanity Address generators available? Which is the fastest? Can they be optimized further? What is the use-case of vanity addresses compared to normal addresses? Your question is more an answer :) Maybe rephrase the question and consider adding also an own answer to this thread... Rando Feb 6 '16 at 13:44 I didn't want to answer my own question, and maybe accept it, that is a bit lame, isn't it? makevoid Feb 6 '16 at 15:21 It is okay to answer your own question . It is even encouraged. Even now you could answer it. Wait with accepting for some more days, maybe more answers will follow. Rando Feb 6 '16 at 21:58 To me, doing that, it looks a bit like reputation-farming, especially if you create the question and answer straight away. Also I don't know how to optimize a vanity address generator (I guess something can be done to the hash function to narrow it after each run but I don't know exactly what/how) and I would like to know the answer :). But if nobody puts another answer I'll try to, thanks. makevoid Feb 6 '16 at 22:26 Reputation farmin is perfectly fine as long as you generate high quality content. We need 10 users with 2k+ reputation to graduate the site. Rando Feb 7 '16 at 10:15 This is a community wiki of vanity address generators, sorted by name. You should always check that you can use your newly generated addresses before sending any significant amount of ethers to these addresses. Hi Reddit, I Have Created The First Eth Vanity Address Generator Powered By Your Browser

Hi Reddit, I have created the first ETH vanity address generator powered by your browser Reddit / Etherum Reddit 3 weeks ago 28 Views Don't hesitate to tell me what you think about it, or how I could improve it! Access Vanity-ETH here: git.io/veth A vanity address is an address which part of it is chosen by yourself, making it look less random. Examples: 0xc0ffee254729296a45a3885639AC7E10F9d54979, or 0x999999cf1046e68e36E1aA2E0E07105eDDD1f08E First of all, visit git.io/veth , which is a shortcut for bokub.github.io/vanity-eth Enter the prefix of your choice, then click 'generate' to start. Your browser is going to generate a ton of random addresses until one of them starts with your prefix. Once an address is found, you can reveal the private key, or click the 'save' button to download a password-encrypted keystore file. You can increase the number of working threads to reach higher speeds, or decrease it if you computer struggles. As explained above, everything is computed only in your browser. Nothing ever leaves your machine, or even your browser tab. There is no database, no server-side code. Everything vanishes when you close your tab. Vanity-ETH cannot and will never store your private key, and if you don't trust it, you have 3 ways to ensure your key remains private: Once the web page is loaded, you can turn off the internet and continue playing, it will work seamlessly You can also download the latest build of Vanity-ETH here and use it on a completely offline computer The code is 100% open source and available on Github . You can review it as much as you want before using it Vanity-ETH uses a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator (CSPRNG) to generate Ethereum addresses. The keystore file is encrypted with a AES-128-CTR cipher using the BKDF2-S Continue reading >>

You can also download the latest build of Vanity-ETH from Github ( ) and use it completely offline. Vanity-ETH uses a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator (CSPRNG) to generate Ethereum addresses. The keystore file is encrypted with a AES-128-CTR cipher using the BKDF2-SHA256 derivation function with 65536 hashing rounds. For some reason, the performance of Vanity-ETH can vary a lot from a browser to another. Right now, Chrome seems to be the one providing the best results. Using Vanity-ETH on your phone or tablet will work, but don't expect to reach the speed of a good old computer. Any address generated with Vanity-ETH is ERC-20 compatible, which means you can use it for an ICO, an airdrop, or just to withdraw your funds from an exchange. The keystore file is 100% compatible with MyEtherWallet, MetaMask, Mist, and geth. Continue reading >>

Bitcoin Vanity Addresses

Bitcoin Vanity Addresses

These have been around for a long time now but they are still nonetheless pretty neat. They are called vanity addresses because you can create a bitcoin address with certain starting letters that spell out words such as your name or your brand. A bitcoin address is like a bank number. You give it or show it to people who then use it to send you bitcoins, litecoins, ether or whatever cryptocurrency you prefer. Wallets create these addresses randomly and a sample bitcoin address looks like this: mr4WeSWGzg8ND2qbpvKJqq2LgMq3HfB6EW This is an address from testnet, which is a test blockchain for development. You can see the transaction history at: which shows that 0.2btc has been sent to this address. Again, the 0.2 btc are not real so not worth anything. What does a bitcoin vanity address looklike? For those who want to get fancy, they can create addresses such as: 1appleWGzg8ND2qbpvKJqq2LgMq3HfB6EW or 1microsoft8ND2qbpvKJqq2LgMq3HfB6EW It makes the address stand out and a little unique hence the name vanity addresses. Generating vanity addresses with more than 7 letters can take years. This is because the computer goes through all the possible combinations in order to find addresses starting with these letters. 6 letters generally takes hours. Below is a screen shot where creating an address with the words bitcoin at the start will take 2.6 years! Of course you could get a faster CPU or even use graphics cards but still. Address re-use is generally considered bad practice. Every transaction should use a new bitcoin address to reduce the possibility of address correlation which increases a persons privacy exposure co-efficient. The benefit of reusing an address is to show an audit trail of donations for example. If you have nothing to fear, you have nothing to hide. All fu Continue reading >>

Well, you can. I made myself a custom address (or vanity address) recently, and some of my friends have wondered how to do this, so I decided to write up a guide for everyone. (This is my address:1NeiL1eBshdVaKRn4SVeeK4qT6bL9tSePu). There are a couple of ways to get these vanity addresses. Cons may not be secure, may not be free Websites such as BitcoinVanitywill let you generate a custom prefix right in your browser. While this is incredibly convenient, you have to trust websites like these to not save your private keys. Furthermore, online vanity address generators may charge a fee, depending on the length of the prefix. If you feel that you can trust such an online service and have no issue paying for a custom Bitcoin address, then go ahead. But if youd rather put in a bit of extra effort to get a FREE and SECURE address, read on. Pros you have total control, free, secure Cons speed depends on the computer you use, harder Before we continue, lets take a moment to understand how Bitcoin addresses work. Bitcoin addresses are randomly generated and have a unique private key attached to them. The private key is required to access the BTC associated with a particular Bitcoin address. Since addresses are randomly generated, its possible to brute-force ones way to obtaining a particular address. This is what well be doing. Well be using a program called Vanitygen , which will do the brute-forcing for us. This guide is written for Windows users since Windows binaries are available for Vanitygen. It IS possible to compile Vanitygen from source on OSX or Linux, but this is quite the hassle. Im Continue reading >>

Bitcoin Vanity Address Service Vante.me in the Hot Seat Bitcoin vanity services have always had a certain appeal, as it allows users to generate a customer address to send and receive funds from. Vante.me is a new vanity address service, and they hope to stand out from similar offerings. Also read: Senator Lindsey Graham Feels Ransomware is an Act of Terrorism In the world of Bitcoin and digital currency, there are various vanity address generation services available. However, there is always a trust issue, as trusting a third party with generating a Bitcoin address and the private key is not as secure as people would like it to be. Bitcoin.com recently sat down with the Vante.me team to discuss their platform, and how they ensure the user is in full control of their funds. Bitcoin.com (BC): What made you come up with the idea for a new Bitcoin vanity service? Was there is a demand for this, or is it just an experiment to see what kind of response you will be getting? Vante.me: The idea came of my own experience. Around two years ago, I wanted to create a vanity address starting with my name. I got all the vanitygen software installed, but after running it, this would take around six years to generate. Obviously, I wasnt going to wait this long. Online there were already some services available, but none of them provided a secure solution. You would have no certainty who else could have your private key. A lot of other people involved with Bitcoin seemed to have the same problem. This lead us to starting this service. With Vante.me we hope to provide a convenient and secure solution by allowing everybody to order a vanity address for a fair price. BC: How do you feel or hope to see the service evolve in the next few months and years? Vante.me: Hopefully, our service be Continue reading >>

How To Create A Custom Vanity Eth Address For Free Dec 2017 Vanity Mining Guide

How to create a custom Vanity ETH address for FREE Dec 2017 vanity mining Guide Usually, your Ethereum Address is generated by your wallet. This randomly generated Address will look something like this: 0xcf113456a4b95327ddc55d0a0e127b1febc1e86c Quite boring huh? Thank god a Vanitygenerator for Ethereum exists! Using this specialized tool, you can customize the first few characters of your Address. Here are some examples: 0x0000012aaa1915552fa84992123c9948cc19f4b6 Lets get started on how you can quickly create your own ETH vanity address. To run the desired tool, you first need to install Node.js and Node Package manager. If you are a developer, chances are you already have those. Open up Node.js console and type the following: $ npm install -g vanity-eth$ vanityeth -i b00b5 Step 3: Create a custom ETH Address using vanity-eth Remember you can use any Hexadecimal Characters: 0-9, a-f & A-F Generate 10 addresses starting with 0x0000: You can also add more or fewer characters it will take exponentially longer the more characters you add. Vante.me Is A New Bitcoin Vanity Address Generator

Vante.me Is A New Bitcoin Vanity Address Generator

Bitcoin vanity addresses have alway had a certain appeal to cryptocurrency users all over the world, even though it is rather difficult to generate such an address oneself. Vante.me is a new service claiming to offer this service in a secure and convenient way. A Different Way To Get A Vanity Bitcoin Address Although most people are well aware of what a vanity address is, lets quickly explain this for novice Bitcoin users. Similar to any regular Bitcoin address, the vanity address starts with a 1, but users can include a specific pattern. For example, their online username, or just some random short string of characters. Generating a Bitcoin vanity address requires a fair amount of computational power, and the process can take several days or weeks to complete when using ones computer. Vante.me offers a scalable solution with a lot of computational power, allowing them to do single requests or batch jobs. Most of the results will be made available in 24 hours. The reason such a Bitcoin vanity address is so popular is because it offers something personal for the end user. Vante.me lets anyone generate a free Bitcoin vanity address with four random characters, whereas paid jobs reward users with eight characters of their choice. Quite an interesting offer but there always some risks associated with using a third-party service for this concept. Every Bitcoin address to ever be generated has a public and private key associated with in. When someone generates a new address on one of their own devices, they are in full control of both keys. But when a third-party service is involved, there is no way to determine whether or not the end user is the only one holding both keys. Vante.me claims users will generate a random keypair in the browser, and the private key is stored by Continue reading >>

Vanitygen - Bitcoin Wiki

Vanitygen - Bitcoin Wiki

Vanitygen is a command-line vanity bitcoin address generator. If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular bitcoin clients, you can use vanitygen to create a more personalized address.Add unique flair when you tell people to send bitcoins to 1stDownqyMHHqnDPRSfiZ5GXJ8Gk9dbjO.Alternatively, vanitygen can be used to generate random addresses offline. Vanitygen accepts as input a pattern, or list of patterns to search for, and produces a list of addresses and private keys. Vanitygen's search is probabilistic, and the amount of time required to find a given pattern depends on how complex the pattern is, the speed of your computer, and whether you get lucky. The example below illustrates a session of vanitygen. It is typical, and takes about 10 sec to finish, using a Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU on x86-64 Linux: $ ./vanitygen 1BoatDifficulty: 4476342Pattern: 1Boat Address: 1BoatSLRHtKNngkdXEeobR76b53LETtpyTPrivkey: 5J4XJRyLVgzbXEgh8VNi4qovLzxRftzMd8a18KkdXv4EqAwX3tS Vanitygen includes components to perform address searching on your CPU (vanitygen) and your OpenCL-compatible GPU (oclvanitygen). Both can be built from source, and both are included in the Windows binary package. Also included is oclvanityminer, the vanity address mining client. Oclvanityminer can be used to automatically claim bounties on sites such as ThePiachu 's Vanity Pool . Continue reading >>

Accepting Ethereum Payments Without External Services

Accepting Ethereum Payments Without External Services

Accepting Ethereum payments without external services You don't need to pay for merchant systems Posted by Christian Haschek on 2017-06-09 When I first thought about implementing payment via a crypto currency I looked at the available solutions like Stripe . The problem I had with stripe was that they allow Bitcoin payments only with US merchant accounts so this was no option for me. In the Ethereum world it looks even worse. There are a few newer services but of course they all want their share of the cake. Building an Ethereum payment system from scratch At least one Parity node in your private network with RPC enabled A vanity address generator on the webserver like vanity-eth Calculate the price in ETH using the current price from the coinbase or kraken API Generate an address pair with the vanity generator and encrypt or move the private key to another server Display the generated address to the customer and check the address every few seconds if a payment has been received We'll use the vanity-eth from nodejs for generating the addresses. You also need some Etherum nodes. I'm using Parity since it's fast and reliable. Start it with these parameters, but don't expose the nodes directly to the internet, keep them behind firewalls without port forwarding. parity --jsonrpc-interface 0.0.0.0 --jsonrpc-hosts="all" --auto-update=all --jsonrpc-cors null For even faster deployment you can use the Parity Docker container. You can also save the data so you won't have to re-sync every time you remake the container. First create a folder named "libs" and clone the php-ethereum repo into it. The ethereum-php project is a nice wrapper for the json-rpc class. Then use the following class and save it as ethpay.php. This is the main logic of the payment processing. You can use it Continue reading >>

A Walk Through Iex.ec Demoapp

A Walk Through Iex.ec Demoapp

Be the first to experience the power of iEx.ecs distributed cloud Welcome to the demo of the iEx.ecs blockchain-based cloud. We have created a distributed application (DApp) that you can use to trial our technology today. Its called VanityGen and is available here . VanityGen is a Bitcoin vanity address generator that enables the creation of a personalized BTC public address. For example, instead of starting 1X gewroKdN which is very dull, your address could be 1happyoKdN Simply because creating a bespoke Bitcoin address takes a lot of time to compute but using iEx.ecs distributed cloud you can send the computation to a network of computers so that it becomes much quicker. This is just one of the benefits of our system and only a tiny part of what iEx.ec can do. What we hope to show is that: The infrastructure to our distributed cloud is ready. Developers could theoretically now schedule tasks for iEx.ec to execute API coming soon! One can develop DApps that harness iEx.ecs superior computing power. The systems native RLC token can be used to access off-chain computing resources. The VanityGen DApp relies on XtremWeb-HEP, an open source software thats been developed by Oleg Lodygensky and Gilles Fedak. You can actually see what happened on workers side (miners or servers). The vanitygen software is the open-source version hosted on Github. To learn more about technical aspects of iEx.ec, you can read this series of articles describing the infrastructure in detail. If you dont have Metamask installed (Ethereum wallet), you can download and add Metamask Chrome extension . Of course, you dont need it if you already have an Ethereum node running. Make sure that Ropsten Test Net (Metamask window top left icon). Before you can spend your RLC testnet token, you want your acco Continue reading >>

What Is A Bitcoin Vanity Address And How Do You Get One?

What Is A Bitcoin Vanity Address And How Do You Get One?

What is a Bitcoin Vanity address and how do you get one? A Bitcoin Vanity address is an address that starts with a certain set of characters and is analogous to mining. You repeat the process of generating a private key and finding the public key coordinates on the elliptic curve and the following hashing and conversion to base 58 as shown in our guide on how to create a Bitcoin address. The process is just the same as mining to secure the blockchain you repeat it until you get the required result. In the case of mining this is defined as the difficulty that the miners are trying to reach, or essentially the number of zeros at the start of the ending hash whilst with a vanity address it is the wanted result at the start. As all bitcoin addresses start with a 1 apart from on the testnet and other circumstances, a vanity address will start with a 1. Two examples are below: The longer the intended sequence in the vanity address the more difficult is to create and the more valuable it is. The number of addresses is huge so there might be value on creating a specific address for an individual or company where the probability of creating an address of the length is low. As an example some websites are charging 0.1 BTC to generate a seven character non case sensitive address and free below that as it can be easily generated on a home computer. There are two methods to create a vanity address, firstly do it yourself probably the most secure way as nobody can see the private key and public key pair. This does involve knowing a little bit of computing and downloading the correct software which you can get here . You can then choose how much of your processing power you wish to dedicate to the process, but beware dedicating a large proportion of your CPU can make the program cras Continue reading >>

How To Get A Custom Bitcoin Address

How To Get A Custom Bitcoin Address

Last updated on March 19th, 2015 at 11:24 am Probably one of the most uncomfortable issues about Bitcoin is the fact that your Bitcoin address looks like you just made up a bunch of random numbers and characters. Luckily there are a few ways you can customize your Bitcoin address so it will look more appealing. None of the ways I will present in this post will be perfect but you can choose the one the suits you the most. Option #1 3rd party fully customized name Onename.io is a service that claims to be your digital passport around the web. By creating a simple username of Onename (for example mine is simply Ofir), you can have people send you Bitcoins to that username. Unfortunately this will only work with wallets thatare compatible with the Onename API and there arent many at the moment. This is the equivalent of having a username at Coinabse for example and then being restricted to using it only when someone sends you Bitcoins through Coinbase. So the pros are very obvious its easy to use and the name looks pretty. The cons are that you dont have fullcontrol over you private key (which is a big no no in the Bitcoin world) and that you are restricted to specific wallets that can send you money. Option #2 Use a vanity address generator A Vanity address is just a Bitcoin address that has some desirable pattern on characters so it looks a bit better.Youd usually only be able to customize just a small number of characters and not the whole address so you can insert your first name or a nickname. Here are some examples: You still have to follow the Bitcoin address limitation which means that your public address will start with 1 and creating these addresses takes some computing power (since you need to guess them, they are not just created). If you dont want to get into Continue reading >>
