Wallets - Is There A Simple Ethereum Address Generator That Consists Only Of Private Key And Public Key? - Ethereum Stack Exchange

Is there a simple Ethereum address generator that consists only of private key and public key? I can go to , download their software to my system, disconnect my system from the Internet, then move my mouse over their page randomly to generate entropy and then get a single Bitcoin wallet. The single wallet address is really simple that I can carry with me in any form (print it to a paper, copy it to a file on any device and secure it the way I wish, etc.) Does something equally simple exist for Ethereum? I tried but I think it enforces added complexity on me to secure the private key. For example, first it forces me to pick a password that it would use to secure the private key. Then the resulting wallet looks complex like the following: { "version": 3, "id": "54f...", "address": "46d...", "Crypto": { "ciphertext": "9c3...", "cipherparams": { "iv": "ac6..." }, "cipher": "aes-128-ctr", "kdf": "scrypt", "kdfparams": { "dklen": 32, "salt": "9c8...", "n": 1024, "r": 8, "p": 1 }, "mac": "559..." }} (Note: I have used ... to truncate long strings. Also don't worry, I won't use this wallet anywhere.) Along with saving this JSON file in exactly this format, I also need to remember an additional password. So back to my question: Is there any Ethereum address generator that can just give me a private key and a public key that I can secure however I wish? Continue reading >>

How To Mine Ethereum In 5min

How To Mine Ethereum In 5min

Surprisingly, all you need is an AWS EC2 instance to start mining Ethereum. Im sure youve already heard of the cryptocurrency craze way before reading this post. Cryptocurrencies are slowly and quietly revolutionizing the way financial systems and transactions work (and should work in my opinion). With Bitcoin hitting its $6K mark not awhile ago, a current total of $158B in market cap and hundreds of ICOs (Initial Coin Offering) conducted since August, its sure to say theres a bubble in the cryptocurrency space. Whats more, is that it doesnt seem this bubble is going anywhere, anytime soon. As you can see in the graph below, the total market cap of cryptocurrencies has grown from under $50B to over $150 in under a year! So what would be the best way to enter this space and enjoy the growth? Im not a cryptocurrency expert, however, from my research Ive found that the answer is pretty clear across all opinions: If youre looking for quick earnings, just invest incoins. However, due to this ever-growing crypto market, mining in the short term could lead to significant earnings in the long term. Personally, Im very interested in Ethereum , and have found an effortless way to start mining it quickly on AWS! This post will walk you through the process. But before we start, lets go over some basics. If youre already familiar with them, just scroll down. Ethereum is an open software platform based on the blockchain technology that enables developers to build and deploy decentralized applications. The advantage of Ethereum over Bitcoin, is that it can support many different types of decentralized applications. Ethereum has the second largest market cap after Bitcoin, and has gained massive growth in the last year with over 230% as you can see below: However, increasing growth in Continue reading >>

Useless Ethereum Token

Useless Ethereum Token

The world's first 100% honest Ethereum ICO. You're going to give some random person on the internet money, and they're going to take it and go buy stuff with it. Probably electronics, to be honest. Maybe even a big-screen television. Let's be honesteveryone's tired of ICOs. They get hyped up for weeks, and then they launch and clog up the Ethereum network for days, Coinbase goes down for a while, and then investors see the new tokens lose most of their value. This ICO is going to be different. The UET ICO transparently offers investors no value, so there will be no expectation of gains. No gains means few investors, few investors means few transactions, and few transactions means no Ethereum network lagnot to mention no depressing posts on /r/ethtrader about people losing all their savings! I learned all about Ethereum smart contracts and Solidity over a weekend so I could launch this ICO. Most of the smart contract contract code is copied from GitHub and Stack Overflow posts, so it should be pretty much right right? Also, I definitely didn't have any smart contract experts look at the contract before I launched it. I mean, why bother? All the other ICOs go through weeks of auditing and they still end up with bugs and vulnerabilities in their contracts. Unlike with every other token sale on the market, I can guarantee here and now that the value of UET will not (in fact, can not) reduce during or after the ICO. Since these tokens aren't worth anything to start with, there's nowhere to go but up! But rememberthis is a completely honest ICO, which means I don't want anyone to mistakenly expect the value of the tokens to go up, either. They're called Useless Ethereum Tokens for a reason. The UET crowdsale has finished. Thanks to everyone who contributed! (Regardless of th Continue reading >>

A Hacker Stole $31m Of Etherhow It Happened, And What It Means Forethereum

A Hacker Stole $31m Of Etherhow It Happened, And What It Means Forethereum

A hacker stole $31M of Ether how it happened, and what it means forEthereum Yesterday, a hacker pulled off the second biggest heist in the history of digital currencies. Around 12:00 PST, an unknown attacker exploited a critical flaw in the Parity multi-signature wallet on the Ethereum network, draining three massive wallets of over $31,000,000 worth of Ether in a matter of minutes. Given a couple more hours, the hacker couldve made off with over $180,000,000 from vulnerable wallets. Having sounded the alarm bells, a group of benevolent white-hat hackers from the Ethereum community rapidly organized. They analyzed the attack and realized that there was no way to reverse the thefts, yet many more wallets were vulnerable. Time was of the essence, so they saw only one available option: hack the remaining wallets before the attacker did. By exploiting the same vulnerability, the white-hats hacked all of the remaining at-risk wallets and drained their accounts, effectively preventing the attacker from reaching any of the remaining $150,000,000. To prevent the hacker from robbing any more banks, the white-hats wrote software to rob all of the remaining banks in the world. Once the money was safely stolen, they began the process of returning the funds to their respective account holders. The people who had their money saved by this heroic feat are now in the process of retrieving their funds. Its an extraordinary story, and it has significant implications for the world of cryptocurrencies. Its important to understand that this exploit was not a vulnerability in Ethereum or in Parity itself. Rather, it was a vulnerability in the default smart contract code that the Parity client gives the user for deploying multi-signature wallets. This is all pretty complicated, so to make th Continue reading >>

Create A Cryptocurrency Contract In Ethereum

Create A Cryptocurrency Contract In Ethereum

We are going to create a digital token. Tokens in the ethereum ecosystem can represent any fungible tradable good: coins, loyalty points, gold certificates, IOUs, in game items, etc. Since all tokens implement some basic features in a standard way, this also means that your token will be instantly compatible with the ethereum wallet and any other client or contract that uses the same standards. The standard token contract can be quite complex. But in essence a very basic token boils down to this: contract MyToken { /* This creates an array with all balances */ mapping (address => uint256) public balanceOf; /* Initializes contract with initial supply tokens to the creator of the contract */ function MyToken( uint256 initialSupply ) { balanceOf[msg.sender] = initialSupply; // Give the creator all initial tokens } /* Send coins */ function transfer(address _to, uint256 _value) { require(balanceOf[msg.sender] >= _value); // Check if the sender has enough require(balanceOf[_to] + _value >= balanceOf[_to]); // Check for overflows balanceOf[msg.sender] -= _value; // Subtract from the sender balanceOf[_to] += _value; // Add the same to the recipient }} But if you just want to copy paste a more complete code, then use this: pragma solidity ^0.4.16;interface tokenRecipient { function receiveApproval(address _from, uint256 _value, address _token, bytes _extraData) public; }contract TokenERC20 { // Public variables of the token string public name; string public symbol; uint8 public decimals = 18; // 18 decimals is the strongly suggested default, avoid changing it uint256 public totalSupply; // This creates an array with all balances mapping (address => uint256) public balanceOf; mapping (address => mapping (address => uint256)) public allowance; // This generates a public event on Continue reading >>

How To Use Ethereum - Coindesk

How To Use Ethereum - Coindesk

The thought of using ethereum might sound intimidating, but it could be rewarding. If the 'unstoppable world computer' develops according to plan, it could provide alternatives to the Facebooks and Googles that many people use everyday(as explained in " What is Ethereum? "). Ethereummight not be as intuitive as the web as we know it today, but still, anyone with a computer or a smartphone can try the platformout as long as they own ' ether 'unique pieces of code that allow updates to the blockchain's ledger. First, you need a place to securely store your ether (or at least a place to store your private keys). This brings us to ethereum 'wallets'. One caveat is that losing your private key is a much bigger deal than misplacing a password: it means losing your ether, forever. Removing trusted partiesis a two-edged sword. While intermediaries are no longer needed to verify transactions, there's no help desk to turn to for help recovering your secret key. With that in mind, there are plenty of options for wallets to store cryptocurrency: desktop wallets, web wallets, hardware wallets and paper wallets. Choosing one depends on your preferences for convenience and security. Usually these two concepts are at odds with one another: the more convenient, the worse the security (and vice versa). Desktop wallets run on your PC or laptop. One option is to download an ethereum client (a copy of the entire ethereum blockchain). There are a few ethereum clients written in different programming languages and with different performance tradeoffs. This process can take up to a couple days, and will only increase as ethereum grows. The wallet then needs to stay in sync with the latest transactions on the blockchain. Mobile clients, or 'light' clients, require less data to be downloaded to Continue reading >>

Walletgenerator.net - Universal Paper Wallet Generator For Bitcoin And Other Cryptocurrencies

We try to make it that way ! The core of the tool, that generate the keys is 99% the same as the well reviewed bitaddress.org. We only changed it to be able to generate addresses for different crypto-currencies. We think that having a unique generator for multiple currencies lead to a much better reviewed tool for all than having a myriad of half-backed generators.Changes made to this generator are available on Github in small and divided commits and those are easy to review and reuse.Walletgenerator.net use the same security measures as the original project. All-in-one html document, no ajax, no analytics, no external calls, no CDN that can inject anything they want. And trust us, we have seen some nasty things when reviewing some wallet generator. Advantages of a paper wallet are multiple: They are not subject to malwares and keyloggers You dont rely on a third partys honesty or capacity to protect your coins You won't lose your coins when your device break Once you have generated and printed a wallet, you can send coins to the public address, like for any wallet. Store your paper wallet securely. It contains everything that is needed to spend your funds. Consider using BIP38 to secure your paper wallet with a password. How to spend the coins stored in a paper wallet ? You will need to import your private key in a real client, that you can download from the currency website. The exact method to do that will depend on the client. If there is no integrated method, you can usually fall back to the debug console and use the command importprivkey [yourprivatekey]. How walletgenerator.net is different than another wallet generator ? Its not that different. You will find another design for the paper wallet and some improvements here and there. The big difference is that thi Continue reading >>

The Ethereum Project's logo, first used in 2014 Ethereum is an open-source , public, blockchain -based distributed computing platform featuring smart contract (scripting) functionality. [2] It provides a decentralized Turing-complete virtual machine , the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can execute scripts using an international network of public nodes. Ethereum also provides a cryptocurrency token called "ether", which can be transferred between accounts and used to compensate participant nodes for computations performed. [3] "Gas", an internal transaction pricing mechanism, is used to mitigate spam and allocate resources on the network. [2] [4] Ethereum was proposed in late 2013 by Vitalik Buterin , a cryptocurrency researcher and programmer. Development was funded by an online crowdsale between July and August 2014. [5] The system went live on 30 July 2015, with 11.9 million coins "premined" for the crowdsale. [6] This accounts for approximately 13 percent of the total circulating supply. In 2016, as a result of the collapse of The DAO project, Ethereum was forked into two separate blockchains - the new forked version became Ethereum (ETH), and the original continued as Ethereum Classic (ETC). Ethereum Worth Millions Of Dollars Gets Locked Up | Fortune

Ethereum Worth Millions Of Dollars Gets Locked Up | Fortune

An Ethereum hard fork may be in the future. Thats after a user of digital currency wallet Parity, which many use to store their Ethereum, effectively froze millions of dollars worth of the cryptocurrency on Tuesdayapparently by accident. The user accidentally triggered a flaw with an update to Paritys multi-signature wallets, according to the open-sourced wallet maker , which cut off all access to the funds they contained. This means that currently no funds can be moved out of the multi-sig wallets, Parity warned. We very much regret that yesterdays incident has caused a great deal of stress and confusion amongst our users and the community as a whole, especially with all the speculation surrounding the issue. Although its unclear how much has been cordoned off, early estimates from investors and cryptocurrency watchers put it between $150 million to $280 million. Update: To the best of our knowledge the funds are frozen & can't be moved anywhere. The total ETH circulating social media is speculative. Parity Technologies (@ParityTech) November 7, 2017 The Parity flaw, which affects versions of the wallets deployed after July 20, allowed the user to take control of a smart contract that included coded transaction instructions for multiple wallets. After making himself the owner of the contract, the user deactivated itthereby cutting off access to the ether within. (To reduce the burden on computers, Ethereum users usually deactivate the contract once theyre done with it, or self-destruct it.) The only way to re-activate the smart contract is to perform a hard fork that effectively reverses the work, wrote Patrick McCorry, a cryptocurrency researcher at University College London. Hard forks effectively create a new version of a cryptocurrency when a faction of users refu Continue reading >>

Bitmaker Free Bitcoin/ethereum 4.2.3

Bitmaker Free Bitcoin/ethereum 4.2.3

BitMaker is a fun and innovative way to generate Bitcoins. This virtual cryptocurrency is becoming highly popular due to its levels of security and now, users can literally 'create' their own money with a few simple steps. As opposed to other systems that focus upon 'mining' this currency, this program allows users to earn money by testing out new games and applications. Thus, it is perfect for those who are unfamiliar with the mining process. It is free to download. The process behind BitMaker is actually quite simple. The user will be able to access a new game or application once every 30 minutes. Once the software has been downloaded and installed, a specific number of Bitcoins will be rewarded. The main benefit here is that in the interim, the user can engage in other tasks until the 30-minute window becomes available once again. BitMaker uses an increment of the Bitcoin colloquially known as the 'Satoshi'. This is a smaller unit, so funds will tend to accumulate over time. Once they are gained, it is solely up to the user how he or she wishes to spend (or invest) this virtual currency. Updates will take place on a somewhat regular basis. Continue reading >>

Free Ethereum (ether, Eth)

Free Ethereum (ether, Eth)

Ethereum is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts: applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third party interference. In many ways Ethereum is how the Internet was supposed to work. Free, open and uncensored. To run application on the Ethereum network you need to have ether. Ether (ETH) is the currency that is distributed to the miners and contributors for upholding the network. So to get Ethereum you can always start mining with your computer or dedicated Ethereum mining hardware or Ethereum cloud mining services. However, there is other ways that you can acquire Ether (ETH). By adding you wallet address to Ethereum facuets you can start earning Ethereum today. You can also receive Ether by completing tasks such as visiting websites, downloading and playing games, watching videos and answering surveys. Ethereum wallets does not matter. Maybe the complicated installation of the local Ethereum Geth wallet is turning you off. If so, then you could always get an online wallet from BIT.AC, the wallet is easy to create and does not require to be downloaded and installed. With BIT.AC you can also convert your Ethereum to Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies quickly. This can be found in your wallet software or your wallet page (if using an online wallet). The wallet address is usually very easy to find within the interface and is a Base58-encoded string similar to this one: 0x1c10a5aabc2555ee3027d5758c4b7b462605f972 A Computer and a Browser (or Mobile Device) Below you will find a selection of Ethereum faucet and earning websites. Follow the instruction on each site to complete the collection of your free Ether. Usually its as simple as copying and pasting in your Ethereum address in the wallet address fi Continue reading >>
