Ive covered how to buy Ethereum in a previous post but thats only part of the process. Today I want to cover 5different types of Ethereum wallets so you will know where to store your Ethereum. Ethereum is a very technical currency (even more than Bitcoin), therefore most wallets out there arent newbie friendly. I will go over them from the simplest to the most complex so you can choose the one that is best suited to your knowledge level. Hardware wallets Best security (for a price) If youre serious about securing your altcoins I suggest storing your Ethereum on a hardware wallet. However these hardware wallets arent free and cost anywhere between $50-$100 (shipping not included). Todays leading hardware wallets TREZOR , Ledger and KeepKey all supply you with the option to store Ethereum on them. Instead of explaining about each one Ill just link to my previous reviews on the wallets: Personally, I use a TREZOR but all three are excellent choices for maximum security. Coinbases Ethereum wallet The simplest option Coinbase supplies an Ethereum wallet as well as a Bitcoin wallet. Coinbases wallet is simple to set up and very easy to use, however it has a few limitations youll need to be aware of: The company holds the private key ofthe wallet for you. Peerther, Ether Mobile Android Wallet App

With Ethereum being a bit less widespread than Bitcoin, you might have trouble finding a wallet that seems better or different than the others. However, the free Peerther mobile Android wallet app for Ether is a simple and easy to use option that requires little to no personal identifying information and works easily right from the first download. As the market price of Ethereums cryptocurrency Ether has gone up in recent weeks, more and more people are seeking ways to learn about Ethereum and possibly acquire Ether. While there are plenty of marketplaces on the internet where one can buy or trade fiat or other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin for Ether, the obvious question after that should be for most people, where can I store it? If you do a simple Google search for digital wallets for Bitcoin, youll have no trouble finding plenty, so heres why you should give Peerther a try. Firstly, the level of personal privacy with Peerther is impressive and not really seen with most apps associated with Bitcoin. Probably due largely to the fact that Ethereum is largely in an early stage of development and Peerther and probably no other Ether wallets are directly connected to fiat-based banks, theres no need for personal information. Once you download the app from the Google Play store, its ready to use. Second, the app is dead simple to use. There are only three main screens receiving Ether, sending Ether and your activity page. Right when you open the app you get a snapshot in Activity showing you how much Ether you own and the current price conversion to USD. If youve made any transactions with the app, youll see the volume of the Ether and date and time of it. Android Ethereum Wallet - Ethereum

Android Ethereum Wallet - Ethereum

Hey, I'm pretty new to ethereum and still looking for a good wallet for android. What makes it better or more secure than other wallets? It's well known in the community and I can personally vouch for it. However Coinomi, as suggested in this thread, looks like a very good alternative with the same features as Jaxx (multi-coin HD wallet) and a truly open code, so it's definitely worth a try. I would move somewhere else, it's super slow to sync. We've got a new major release rolling out starting today. Faster, lighter and smoother UX. Please keep in mind that using wallets where you have to download the full blockchain or even the headers (SPV wallet) is "super slow to sync" compared to Jaxx. With us you're in control of the keys and you don't need to do either. Our app is a <10 megs, way less than an SPV client and we support multiple blockchains and 9 different platforms. btw, we got a laugh at the office that you're saying "Jaxx is super slow to sync". It literally takes a few seconds, unless you're using it for mining payouts and you have hundreds of tx, which we don't recommend because it will take longer. Similar to how you wouldn't use an exchange for mining payouts. I did use for mining payouts too. It takes like 30 sec - 1 min for me to sync. u knw it takes me solid 30 sec for showing the jaxx logo screen before it goes to my wallet, jst tested. I love the concept everything in one wallet. But in the end I am using separate wallets one of Bitcoin , one of etc and one for Monero. My mycelium contains the same mining payout and it takes may be like 5 secs at max to load. Still my Monero wallet mymonero is crap , eth I use coinomi it was okay. I am sorry I don't knw or understand how technically difficult it can be and how much effort you guys put in to make it. Ethereum Thieves Are Targeting Android Users With Fake Myetherwallet Apps

Ethereum thieves are targeting Android users with fake MyEtherWallet apps One consequence of the recent cryptocurrency craze is that people are increasingly more interested in downloading a wallet on their phones. But it seems scammers have found an opportunity to exploit this trend and are now actively seeking to dupe gullible Ethereum holders with malicious MyEtherWallet copycats on Google Play . Malware researcher Lukas Stefanko has taken to Twitter to warn users away from a malicious instance of the popular Ethereum wallet that is currently being distributed on Googles official mobile software platform. The researcher goes on to explain that once installed the shady copycat requires users to fill in their private key (or 12-word mnemonic phrase) to log in. For those curious, here is how the fake app looks like: There is fake @myetherwallet on Google Play that requires user's private key or mnemonic phrase to log in. BTW there isn't any official MyEtherWallet, yet. pic.twitter.com/6Nn1QFbhEJ Lukas Stefanko (@LukasStefanko) January 24, 2018 According to Google Play data, the malicious MyEtherWallet instance first made its way to the platform on January 18 last week. It has been downloaded between 100 and 500 times since then. Fortunately, a number of observant users have since pointed out that the app is malicious and seeking to phish your private keys. One particularly concerning detail is that the app seems to have stacked a relatively decent star rating standing at 3.8 stars at the time of writing, with more than 30 positive reviews. Whether it is the notoriously bad UX or the general lack of knowledge in the space, cryptocurrency has become especially popular with scammers recently. Indeed, earlier this week Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin cautioned users to be Continue reading >>
