Universities Teaching Blockchain

It is already known that demand for blockchain professionals is currently exceeding supply, which explains why universities and academia in general have been adding all types of blockchain-related courses on their lists in an increasing measure in the recent past. However, only a few universities are offering blockchain courses. Of the about 10,000 people who listed blockchain as a skill by June this year on LinkedIn network , half are in the technology fields and a quarter in the financial services sector. Majority are in the US, followed by UK, France, India, Germany and the Netherlands. Here is a list of universities and academies that offer courses in blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Blockchain university , which was launched a few years ago by a group of experienced cryptocurrency executives, teaches blockchain ecosystem with solution oriented design thinking and hands-on training. It also offers courses specifically tailored for developers, managers and entrepreneurs. Students are taught a variety of issues in a variety of courses on bitcoin blockchain protocol (and other altcoin ledgers, e.g. Ethereum), understanding other related technologies (IPFS, DNSChain), understanding transactions, project creation, scripting language, forking the bitcoin source, smart contracts and many other issues. This Academy Blockchain lab offers a number of courses including Ethereum, Blockchain Theory, Blockchain for Training Executives and Analysts, Hyperledger Fabric 101 and Ethereum Developer Course. Ethereum 101.md Github

(This is a brief summary of Ethereum's white paper ) Ethereum is a new cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin or Litecoin, that adds a number of new features. Most notably the inclusion of Agents (also known as Contracts); Independent Turing-complete programs that exist on the Ethereum blockchain. These Agents can receive Ether (Ethereum's currency) and other inputs, perform computations, hold balances, transfer Ether, and even activate other Agents. Ethereum also attempts to fix some current issues with cryptocurenncy mining, such as rise of specialized hardware, large mining pools that aim to control the network, and the lack of reward for stale blocks, dissuading miners with weaker hardware. At it's core Ethereum is just like any other cryptocurrency. You can transfer ether between wallets, ether can be mined, people can trade ether for goods and services. However Ethereum includes the idea of Agents. An Agent is a Turing-complete program that part of an Ethereum wallet. Whenever a wallet that has an Agent receives a transaction, the Agent's program is executed. Since the program is attached to a wallet, it can hold a balance, make transfers, and has persistent storage on the blockchain itself. It is a completely independent entity, is executed in a completely distributed way, and is open source. The Agent's code is also kept within this storage, allowing an Agent to modify it's source code during execution. Check out Decentralized Autonomous Organizations in the Examples to see how this can be useful. Agents are executed as part of the mining process. All of the Agent's code and persistent memory is stored within the block chain. Whenever a miner processes a transaction to an Agent, they also must process and execute the Agent's code. As a reward for doing this, the Agent mu Continue reading >>

Crypto Stats: 2014 Decline was -86% for 266 Days, Today -85% for 252 Days on as Upcoming ETF is in 2 Weeks Altcoins Next to Their Biggest Market Cap Drop in History Back in 2014, the total altcoin market capitalization fell over 85% and the bear market last 266 days. After it, altcoins bounced and started a new bull run. Today, altcoins lost 85% of their value since their all time high at the beginning of 2018. The decline has already been for over a period of 252 days. If the market continues to fall we may see the biggest alcoin drop in history. There are several projects that lost more than 90% of their value since their all time high. Currencies such as XRP or Cardano (ADA) have lost 93% and 95% respectively. However, Bitcoin (BTC) remained as one of the strongest virtual currencies. Its dominance has been growing since the beginning of the year and has reached the same levels it had back in December 2017 when it reached $20,000 dollars. The most important virtual currency by market capitalization has lost 71% since its all time high in December. This shows that Bitcoin has been used as a hedge for several other projects that were losing between 80% and 95% of their value. Ethereum (ETH), closely related to Initial Coin Offering (ICO) tokens has experienced an important sell off in the last weeks. Compared to the US dollar, Ethereum is being traded at the same levels as in May 2017. In terms of BTC, Ethereum reached its lowest point since December. The Ethereum network has been used by several projects to launch their own tokens. And in the last times, with a falling altcoin market, Ethereum has been clearly harmed. Its dominance in the cryptocurrency market has reache Continue reading >>

Why I Invested In A 12-week Ethereum Developer Course

Why I Invested In A 12-week Ethereum Developer Course

Why I invested in a 12-week Ethereum Developer Course Former software engineer turned full-time blockchain developer shares her B9Lab learningjourney Randall Kanna is a blockchain engineer focused on building and auditing secure, smart contracts. Her original review of the B9Lab Ethereum Developer Course can be found here . Randall, what made you decide to learn blockchain with B9Lab in the firstplace? Blockchain is such a new, developing field that it was actually tough to even find a course to take, let alone find reviews of it. Once I found the B9Lab Ethereum Developer Course and read a bunch of positive reviews , I immediately signed up. What was your overall impression of thecourse? Because the field of blockchain is so new, and so many people are trying to cash in by producing low-quality courses with very little material that I was really very skeptical about how good the course could be but B9Lab blew me away. Not only was it the best online course available by far, but it was also a much better blockchain course than those offered by some well-established companies. Did you have any concerns before gettingstarted? When a field is developing as quickly as blockchain is, theres always the risk that course material can become outdated quickly. But I was relieved to find that B9Lab updates material quickly to keep up with the field. Another concern I had was related to the amount of content will I really get enough information? In other online courses, Ive had to find outside resources to supplement the course material, but B9Lab included so much content that I never felt like I was missing a thing. Can you give some insights into your experience with the format and delivery? The course content is extensive, featuring tutorials, videos, quizzes and projects. The v Continue reading >>

Blockchain Courses In Universities: A New Supply For A New Demand

Blockchain Courses In Universities: A New Supply For A New Demand

Blockchain Courses in Universities: A New Supply for a New Demand Universities around the world are implementing Blockchain and cryptocurrency-related courses, to create a supply for the new demand of workers in the emerging market of Blockchain technologies and cryptocurrency. As the market cap for cryptocurrencies grows each day, it becomes harder and harder for the world to ignore this burgeoning market. The financial industry currently has a large demand for Blockchain specialists and cryptocurrency experts, the only problem is, there is not a large enough supply of workers to meet that demand. Bitcoin was launched in January 2009. The cryptocurrency is not even ten years old yet - its not too surprising to learn that many people are unaware of Blockchain technologies and their benefits, hence why the supply of Blockchain and cryptocurrency specialists does not currently match the demand. That is why universities around the world have been implementing Blockchain and cryptocurrency-related courses and clubs to adequately prepare their students for jobs in the industry that will be the future of banking and finance. In the US, NYU Law , Duke , Princeton , Stanford , and UC Berkeley are just a few among the many schools implementing such courses. Some of the titles of these courses are Digital Currency, Blockchains and the Future of Financial Services (NYU Law), Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies (Princeton), Cryptocurrencies, Blockchains, and smart contracts (Stanford). In Europe, the University of Cumbria , B9 Lab Academy , IT University of Copenhagen , and University of Nicosia are just a few of the higher-learning institutions that have implemented such courses; in Russia, Moscow State University of Economics , National University of Science and Technology , Continue reading >>
