What Is Cryptonote Currency And Cryptonight Algorithm?

What Is Cryptonote Currency And Cryptonight Algorithm?

CryptoNote is an application layer protocol that powers several decentralized privacy oriented digital currencies. Cryptonoteaims to be an evolution in cryptocurrency and to Bitcoin. CryptoNote currencies use a distributed public ledger that records all balances and transactions of its in-built currency like Bitcoin, but unlike Bitcoin, cryptonotes transactions cannot be followed through the blockchain in a way that reveals who sent or received the currency. In this type of currencies the only people with access to the whole set of data about a transaction are the sender or the receiver of the transaction and the person who possesses one or both secret keys. The most knowned Cryptonote currency is Monero XMRand has ongoing support from the community, it was forked from Bytecoin in April 2014. CryptUnit is an interesting service that offers up to date data for Cryptonote-based altcoins you can mine. It gives you profitability data with more details about each of the supported coins. Just enter your Cryptonight hashrate and the service will calculate what is the most profitable coin to mine at the moment and give you some extra useful information such as pools and exchanges. Profitability varies all the time, so things change and the most profitable coins can vary all the time. The service covers at this time 16 different Cryptonote coins that you can mine with CPU or GPU (AMD or Nvidia). The people most interested in this service are probably going to be the ones with AMD-based video cards especially RX VEGA 56/64 due to their very high mining performance especially in the Cryptonight algorithm. CryptoNight is a proof-of-work algorithm that is designed to be used on ordinary PC CPUs. CryptoNight was originally implemented in the CryptoNote codebase. CryptoNight relies o Continue reading >>

What Is The Mining Reward Equation?

What Is The Mining Reward Equation?

I've tried using this equation, but while it works for Bitcoin, it doesn't work for Monero. Questions: what's the Monero mining reward equation? And a soft question, why is it so difficult to find this information? Of course it doesn't work for Monero, because Monero is not a fork of Bitcoin. For mining profit, the simplest would be the following: Daily mining estimate =( (your hashrate) * (current block reward) * 720 ) / (network hashrate) Note that you can't use Bitcoin hashrate for this, as it is a different alghorithm (CryptoNight). For example, a RX 470 will yield about 600H/s for Monero. For the current block reward, we must look at the emission schedule, or simply look it up at some block explorer. The emission is a function of current supply, and was defined in the CryptoNote whitepaper , section 6.1. The upper bound for the overall amount of CryptoNote digital coins is: MSupply = 264 1 atomic units. This is a natural restriction based only on implementation limits, not on intuition such as "N coins ought to be enough for anybody". To ensure the smoothness of the emission process we use the following formula for block rewards: where A is amount of previously generated coins. The above is not really user-friendly since it uses bit-shifting for faster calculation. User-friendly variant of the expression can be found here . Repeating for readability: The Monero block reward = (M - A) * 2-20 * 10-12, where A = current circulation. And a soft answer: all I had to do to find it was search for "emission" here on StackExchange. Continue reading >>

How To: Calculate Mining Profits 2017/18

How To: Calculate Mining Profits 2017/18

If youve ever heard of cryptocurrencies, youve probably heard of mining. The sole reason most cryptocurrencies can function is due to mining. Without miners, the blockchain cant be validated every time someone wants to make a transaction. If the blockchain doesnt get validated, there is simply no way to know which transaction is legitimate and which is not. Becoming a miner doesnt come without reward, however. There are two things which your reward is based off of. For example, whenever you decide to send some Bitcoin, Ether, or whatever other currency youre using, youve probably noticed the added fee, which can either be listed as a transaction or a mining fee depending on your wallet. This fee gets tacked on to whichever miner cracks the code and completes the block. Though this reward is quite minuscule, the real treat is the block reward, which for Bitcoin is 12.5 Bitcoin equal to an astounding $48,314 USD! One of the benefits in investing a couple hundred, or a thousand into a mining computer instead of into the currency you are eventually going to mine, is the fact that in the very unlikely event that the headline in the morning is United Nations Ban All Forms Of Digital Currencies, you can still sell your mining computer. At a loss nonetheless, but its still better than nothing. However, if you invested that amount into a currency instead, that currency will most likely be worth nothing. Although there still is the chance that the currency goes up by 100% overnight, leaving you in the dust with a mere mining rig. Another benefit is that in case the currency you are mining drops in value, you can easily swap to another coin and regain your profits that way. Take Ethereum for example. One year ago and with a small mining operation, it was very easy to mine 1 or 2 E Continue reading >>

Best Monero Mining Hardware For 2018

Best Monero Mining Hardware For 2018

Last updated on April 12th, 2018 at 12:00 pm Monero is one of the top privacy coins on the market. It currently resides in 10th place on the market cap list , and it has one of the most engaged communities of developers and users around. Mining Monero is one of the most user-friendly mining experiences out there. Monero uses an algorithm called cryptonight. This algorithm can also be efficiently mined on CPUs and GPUs. Even regular users who dont have special mining hardware can engage in Moneros mining community. Of course, Monero isnt the only coin that uses Cryptonight. Other options are Karbo, Electroneum, Bytecoin, and SumoKoin. If youre new to mining Cryptonight, there are a few important things you should know: 1. There are two versions of Cryptonight. Bitmain is well-known for producing ASICs for mining Bitcoin and Litecoin. Recently, Bitmain produced Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) for mining Cryptonight. ASICs were built solely for the purpose of more efficient mining. They greatly increase the difficulty of mining coins, as they are usually much more powerful than regular GPUs and CPUs. The Cryptonight community wasnt happy with the introduction of ASIC miners. So they decided to edit the algorithm, and they spawned another version called Cryptonight V7, which is resistant to ASICs. Subsequently, most Cryptonight coins are currently using the new V7 algorithm, or theyre planning a hard fork to start using it soon. Most mining algorithms are either GPU- or CPU-friendly, but not both. But Cryptonight can be profitable on both a GPU and CPU, which makes Cryptonight mining rigs more efficient. In most other mining rigs, the CPU is usually just a waste of space. A mining-rig setup can be tricky, especially if you want to mine with both GPUs and C Continue reading >>

Just input your hash rate, any pool fees you many incur, power usage, power cost in kw per hour (you can find this on an electricity bill, or look online for averages in your area if youre unsure) and hardware costs if youre using your own rig, or the contract cost if youre using cloud mining, then hit calculate. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and worldwide payment system. It is the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central bank or single administrator. The network is peer-to-peer and transactions take place between users directly, without an intermediary. These transactions are verified by network nodes through the use of cryptography and recorded in a public distributed ledger called a blockchain. Bitcoin was invented by an unknown person or group of people under the name Satoshi Nakamoto and released as open-source software in 2009. Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. As of February 2015, over 100,000 merchants and vendors accepted bitcoin as payment. One of the first supporters, adopters, and contributors to bitcoin was the receiver of the first bitcoin transaction, programmer Hal Finney. Finney downloaded the bitcoin software the day it was released, and received 10 bitcoins from Nakamoto in the worlds first bitcoin transaction. Other early supporters were Wei Dai, creator of bitcoin predecessor b-money, and Nick Szabo, creator of bitcoin predecessor bit gold. In t Continue reading >>

First Place For Electroneum! Simple Cryptonight Profit Calculator. - Electroneum

First place for Electroneum! Simple Cryptonight profit calculator. Hello,I made a calculator that will determine which Cryptonight(lite) currency is best to mine at the moment. I use the current prices and current blockchain data for calculations. I would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions ::) Aren't you missing SumoKoin? Anyway, great job! Any reason it shows 0 for ETN for me no matter the hashrate input This is good! Great job giving back to the community You could probably fit a couple more, like sumocoin and, god forbid, even nicehash. They actually pay the highest right now thanks to buyers that don't know how to do math and overpay miners! :) I've been mining on a couple of pools and then buying my favorite coins like electroneum etc. its not that accurate nanopool is saying that i get less 50 coins than that calculator. but still good job on making it! Are you trying to say that any pool calculator is actually accurate? well its calculating based on my actual reported hashrate so its more accurate. Finally an accurate calculator for ETN. The other ones were way off by a factor of 2 or more. I like the design too. Most crypto sites look like garbage, great to see someone using some real design skills. Pretty accurate. Etn is 3x more profitable then any other st 50k hash If your calculation is correct I should look for another AEON pool immediately ... I added a sumokion and KARBOWANEC :)Thank you for comment. It has my approval. Thank you for this. It's also mobile friendly :). One recommendation I'd make, Add BTC value as well. Seeing the value of a coin to BTC is as important as USD. Wonderful! Great job, this adds to the community alot! I like it. This is a good start to being a competitor to What to Mine although it has sacrificed some information for Continue reading >>

3 Best Monero Mining Hardware Asics & Gpus 2017 (comparison)

Jordan Tuwiner Last updated June 27, 2017 Monero, a fungibility and privacy centered currency, has been gaining significant traction in dark net markets around the globe. Considering that its value has passed the 40$ mark, you might be wondering how to best mine the currency. Heres a quick guide regarding the hardware that you should use. Monero does not have any ASIC mining hardware, so youre left with the option of mining with CPUs and GPUs. More specifically, Moneros mining algorithm makes use of a type of Proof of Work (PoW) called CryptoNight, which was designed to be effective for the computer hardware of casual users. Whats special about Moneros mining algorithm is that it lowers the performance gap. As a result, the efficiency gap between using GPUs and CPUs to mine is low relative to other cryptocurrencies. This causes ASICs to be prohibitively expensive for mining Monero, and therefore creates an arguably fairer playing field. To get the most bang out of your Monero mining buck, youll be best off buying as many cheap CPUs as possible. Keep in mind that you could also reach better margins by investing in fewer, but stronger CPUs that have a better hash to power consumption ratio. And if youre really trying to accrue some meaningful hashing power, take a look at custom assembled AMD R9 380 Mining racks . Essentially, youre best off stacking many affordable GPUs instead of spending large amounts on newer cutting edge cards, as GPU innovations charge extra for chip features that just hit the market. If youre looking for an extensive list of Monero mining equipment , follow the link to feast on all the options. It helps to participate in a mining pool to secure steadier rewards for your mining efforts. There are several options to pursue, as seen on Moneropools , Continue reading >>

The diff change is the rate at which the network difficulty is changing every month. Diff change is used for the estimated future profits graph and break-even analysis. Typically in crypto, network difficulty tends to increase over time, meaning a miner will generate less crypto with the same hardware. Accounting for this changing difficulty is essential to generate long term profitability predictions. The diff change value is calculated by looking at the current difficulty and comparing it to the 12 hour moving average of the difficulty one month ago. For smaller coins the diff change can sometimes be inaccurate due to a wildly fluctuating difficulty. The diff change factor can be disabled by either manually setting it to 0 or clicking a "Use Diff Change" switch found below the graph and in the break-even analysis section. Diff Change value is very large. Future profitability estimates may be inaccurate. Consider making Diff Change smaller or turning off Dynamic Difficulty. Hashrate is the only value you need to input to use this calculator, we do the rest of the work for you! Hashrate is the speed which you are mining, and is normally clearly displayed by your mining software or in the specifications for mining hardware. Make sure that you have the correct hashrate suffix selected. For example, if your miner reports 600 GH/s, ensure that GH/s is selected and not TH/s. The Break-Even Analysis feature can help you predict how long it will take to become profitable for a given setup. Time to break-even is calculated by comparing your hardw Continue reading >>
