How To Buy A Cryptokitty: The Complete Guide + Dna Sequencing

How To Buy a Cryptokitty: The Complete Guide + DNA Sequencing my first cryptokitty, First Parent ofDracula Yesterday I purchased my first cryptokitty on the Ethereum blockchain. Professional Mad Scientist! Thats mykitty! I dont consider myself to be the type of person who gets completely swept away by new internet fads, but when my friend told me yesterday that she made $80 by breeding her cryptokitty (and still retaining ownership), I was seized by the idea that I could earn passive income while I pimped out my virtual cats. So far, Ive earned $2.20 by pimping out my first kitty, First Parent of Dracula. This amount is really low, due mostly to me underbidding my kittys reproductive talents. Im not going to tell you how much I paid for my cryptokitty. I bought Ether early this year and paid about $70 for 1 ETH. Now 1 ETH is worth $450. Lets just say I spent way too much for my very first cryptokitty. I bought mine based on three facts: 1. My cat gave birth to a Dracula. 2. My friend who bought one two days ago told me she made $80 by breeding hers. 3. I love SalvadorDali. I wrote this complete guide after many people on Twitter were begging for answers. Heres my kitty and its name is First Parent of Dracula. Cryptokitties are like snails, meaning that all of them can get pregnant. Theres no male nor female. I made mine into an animated GIF using the free tool, Giphy. Step 1: Install the MetaMask Chrome extension: MetaMask is the most noob-friendly way to connect to the Ethereum blockchain.

Continue reading >>

After Crypto Currencies It Is Time To Welcome Crypto Kitties!

After Crypto Currencies It Is Time To Welcome Crypto Kitties!

After Crypto currencies it is time to welcome Crypto Kitties! After Crypto currencies ... it is time to welcome Crypto Kitties! Last week AxiomZen Studios launched Digital Cats or Crypto Kitties, based on the Etherium coin, where you can buy and breed a digital cat. As with everything new and strange, the news spread immediately, and the eccentric began spending more than $ 6.4 million on these virtual cats. The most expensive cat was sold for $ 115,000 a few days ago. Cats here are entirely owned by you. When the studio gives them you will have all the power to buy a cat. In fact, there can never be a cat. They can not take it from you and can not be destroyed, thanks to blockchain technology. But how do these Crypto Kitties differ from other games? In traditional video games, the company may have access to your characters, and elements within the game at any time that can delete, prohibit, copy anything, but with these cats you have all the powers and no one else. But you may say that the prices of these cats are very expensive. Will I pay all this money just for a digital cat I can not touch? You can marry your cat with another cat, forming a unique breed also of Crypto Kitties The idea here is, as some believe, is not just collecting cats, lets pause for a moment and think that instead of selling cats, this site sold homes, buildings and land ownership, shares to companies like Amazonand Facebook. So, what makes these cats interesting is that their idea is much larger. Working with the mass chain is the future of new technology. There are many people who think that blockchainis the most important invention since the Internet. New and realistic things that never existed before, and building a bridge between the virtual world and the real world, and combining the mos Continue reading >>

We built CryptoKitties and wanted to understand how people were using our contracts. Public data on the blockchain is abundant but visualization is extremely limited. Over 500 CryptoKitties were bred by the community in just 24 hours. If we were to use Etherscan to track the most frequently called methods we would need to open 200 pages. 'Show method calls by name' is terrible because it shows the HEX in Etherscan. No one can parse all that information and make sense of it. Etherscan is great for looking up any transaction or any block in Ethereum but it's textual data formatted into a list. How can the community or the creators understand how people are using their contracts? Public data is readily accessible via blockchain but it's really hard to visualize. We were inspired to build Rufflet because of our experience with another project we've worked on in the past (CryptoKitties). Rufflet allows us to understand how people are using CryptoKitties better than any other tool, and now anyone can use Rufflet for their own smart contract! Etherscan: search for a block hash or a transaction hash and all the information related to it Rufflet: provides all of your contract information and show you deeper insight to how methods are being used over a period of time We pull blocks from a full Ethereum node, index the transactions in MongoDB, parse the method call data, and send all this to the frontend to be rendered by a React app. Grab all the most recent blocks from a full Ethereum node. Take all of those transaction and insert it into MongoDB. Index by the to address for transactions. When somebody issues a request. We find all the transaction that are sent to their contract. Parse the function calls so that we can see the function name and the inputs. Then we send that to Continue reading >>

Wtf: Cryptokitties - Alt Coins - The Bitcoin Pub

I bought four cats then bred the pair to get 2, so I had six. But it took 14 attempted transactions to buy 4 cats and another 7 or 8 to breed the two pairs and it was like pulling teeth the whole time. It took nearly 4 hours for the two new cats to appear in my inventory. I had to change off the mainnet to a custom RPC and I had to use myetherwallet.com to engineer a trick of sending 0 ETH to myself along with a boatload of gas to clear the transactions stuck in pending. One of the pairs bred and produced a cat while the 2nd one sat bun in the oven for hours. Snappy cats supposed to be only 10 ~ 30 minutes. Oh, and I was charged the breeding fee six times for two cats. 6 hours into the game all I had to show for it was a net loss of ~$450 as I used 1.2 ETH to get to this point. I was aggravated as hell with the network congestion issue, the gas prices bouncing all over the place, the website repeatedly failing to load, the transactions timing out or being rejected even though I significantly bumped the gas, and so onSo I decided it was time to get out, I put all six kitties up for sale with starting price 0.7 for the Gen 6 snappy ones going down to 0.5 and expiring in 12 hour. Which was right in the sweet spot at the time for that gen and speed. That only took me about 45 minutes to an hour to get all six listed thanks to switching away from main net to custom RPC. I went to bed. Next morning, I check in. They didnt sell. Today, lots of snappy gen 6s significantly higher than my sitting final price, but theyre likely not selling ever (more on this later). I put the Gen 7, 9, and 10, (all of them swift speed) up for 0.3 to 0.25 auction, expiring in 0.5 days (12 hours). They also didnt sell. But right about the time their auction time is expiring, I start getting a slew Continue reading >>

Psa: 404 Errors - Cryptokitties

Psa: 404 Errors - Cryptokitties

I hate that it REDIRECTS to /404 instead of showing me a 404 error on /kitty/12345, etc. Hi /u/no12blame ! I can confirm that every time I click any cat in CK right now that it's a 404 being loaded. You can even see it in the url right when you click on the cat. That's it I give up on this piece of s*** game, everything is broken, literally everything. I spent so much time trying to buy a cat with fiddling with different gas settings, even installing Brave to no avail. I predict that by the time the actually make it stable it'll already have been dominated by bots so there will be no point touching it. Enjoy it while it lasts. Cool idea, s*** execution. Why so angry? Yea, it's a shitty execution, but it's a good idea. Hopefully they can work out the kinks, but you don't have to be an ass about it. Also, what's up with the self censorship? This isn't fucking gradeschool or your Christian Minecraft server lol First of all, don't censor-shame me. Secondly, you'd be pretty miffed too if you lost money, which is what happened to me, as despite the transaction being cancelled I received nothing back(plus I lost all the gas money from previous attempts). All in all, I feel justified in "being an ass". Enjoy your scam game. Cheers. Lol "censor-shame." That's a new one. If you don't like the word "shit" don't half say it, everyone knows what "s***" means and what "f***" means, so if you don't like those words you could say "crap" or "fudge" or "poopy" or what have you. It's just dumb to say "shit" But think it's somehow better if you don't type out the whole word. And I've made a 1500% return on my very meager initial investment, so I would say it's much more likely that you fucked up and that this isn't a scam at all. Next time try not to fuck up and you won't get "scammed." S Continue reading >>

Crypto Kitties: Ethereums New Killer App Focuses On Virtual Cats

Crypto Kitties: Ethereums New Killer App Focuses On Virtual Cats

Crypto Kitties: Ethereums New Killer App Focuses on Virtual Cats In the past couple days, people have spent almost $4 million in Ether on virtual cats. A digital cat collection game that runs on the Ethereum blockchain might just be the hottest property in crypto. Crypto Kitties , a simple distributed app (dapp) that allows users to buy, trade, and breed virtual cats, is in the middle of a viral explosion. In the past 24 hours alone, users have spent nearly $3 million on the game , and the rarest cats are fetching remarkable prices: five cats have already sold for more than $50,000, and one broke the $100,000 barrier. In fact, Crypto Kitties is now the top transaction generator on the Ethereum blockchain, accounting for more than 10% of the network's total transactions (as of this writing). It has become popular enough that the developers have been forced to raise the cat birthing fee repeatedly in an attempt to stem the tide: DUE TO CONGESTION ON THE NETWORK WE ARE INCREASING THE BIRTHING FEE FROM 0.002 ETH > 0.015 ETH. WE HOPE THIS WILL ALLOW MORE KITTENS TO BE BORN ON TIME AS THERE HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT DELAYS Even that may not be enough. As of this writing, users are still complaining about congestion , and thousands of dollars in Ether are still pouring into the dapp each minute. It would be easy to dismiss Crypto Kitties as a silly fad and it could prove to be just that but the game has the potential to be a mainstream breakout moment for the cryptocurrency community. Yes, it's a game about trading cat pictures, but no less an authority than the New York Times once called cat pictures an essential building block of the internet. And Crypto Kitties has a lot going for it that could help it appeal to mainstream internet users in a way that most esoteric cryptocurre Continue reading >>

Are Cryptokitties The New Beanie Babies? Or Just A Fun Way To Learn Smart Contracts?

Are Cryptokitties The New Beanie Babies? Or Just A Fun Way To Learn Smart Contracts?

These virtual cats, called Cryptokitties, caught my attention a few days ago. I'm fairly new to the crypto world, so I wanted to learn more about eth and how to execute smart contracts on the network. This game defintely satisfied my curiosity on that point. If you're interested in hearing how my experience went read on! Setting up an account was pretty user friendly and installing metamask was fairly easy as well. From there I transferred a few bucks into my metamask wallet and I was ready to go kitty shopping. Here is where I already began to run into problems. There were so many people buying kitties at once that every time I picked one and tried to buy, it was already gone! Kept trying and eventually was able to snag 2 kitties. I named mine after our 2 cats that we had in my childhood. I'm just nostalgic like that. Here is where this game lost me. But it's also where I learned the most about smart contracts and essentially how the ethereum blockchain works. So, in order to breed your kitty, you can either sire it out to other players cats, or if you have 2 kitties that are not related, you can breed them together for a transaction fee and get a whole new kitty. Sounds great, right? Well...maybe if it worked. First night I tried breeding my kitties, I wasted probably a good hour just having timed out requests and nothing was going through. Still costing me money though. Also, as the network filled up, the transaction fees went through the roof. $9 just to breed 2 cats. Too rich for my blood. :( So I scoured the forums looking for a way to fix it and still play. Here is where I began learning the things I really wanted to know, how to use myetherwallet and how to cancel pending transactions. I was able to clear out all my hung up requests and tried to play again toda Continue reading >>

Cryptokitties - A Game Based On The Blockchain With The Goal Of Raising A Kitty - Crypto Is Halal

CryptoKitties A game based on the blockchain with the goal of raising a kitty Explaining what is the blockchain technology and how it is functioning can be a complicated and tedious job to do. This is why CryptoKitties was created, in order to provide a fun and educational way of grasping the concept of the blockchain technology and attract more users and create more adversaries of this kind of ecosystem. The author of the application is a company called AxiomZen. CryptoKitties is a game where you raise, buy and exchange digital cats using a platform based on the Ethereum network and its system of smart contract. The objective of this initiative is to make easier the process of understanding of the blockchain technology to the beginners in the cryptoworld. This way, people can play and learn what are the smart contracts, how they work and how to use digital wallets to transfer tokens. Product manager from AxiomZen, Benny Giang, said recently: CryptoKitties should be a part of this revolution to bring the blockchain technologies to the masses. There are too many companies which are creating incredible technologies, but which people do not understand or worry about. This is why they have created the game. The trial version of the game was revealed last week during the ETH Waterloo, the largest Ethereum hackathon. During the hackathon, various challenges were launched in the game. For example, one challenge asked users to raise one of the cats with specific physical features. The users who succedded in doing so were compensated with ethers. To be able to access the trial version of the game, the users need to download Metamask, a plug-in for Google Chrome web browser. This plug-in enables the users to communicate with other applications in the Ethereum network. You need t Continue reading >>

After Cryptokitties, The 'cryptocollectibles' Business Is Booming

After CryptoKitties, the 'Cryptocollectibles' Business Is Booming People are spending cryptocurrency on everything from virtual pandas to tulipsseriously, you have no idea. Kitties, puppies, pandas, bunnies, and tiny monstersthis is not a list of the Beanie Babies that still live in my parents attic; it describes the various blockchain-based collectibles people have already spent millions of dollars buying. The idea of collecting virtual items tied to blockchain networks that ensure uniqueness and transparently track ownership isnt new. Developer Joe Looney created the Rare Pepe Wallet in 2016a platform where people can purchase tokens representing virtual trading cards featuring variations of artist Matt Furies original green frog meme on the Bitcoin blockchain. However, it took CryptoKitties debut in late November of 2017 to turn this concept into both a game that was accessible to more than just your average cryptocurrency nerd, and a major moneymaker. Today, the more expensive kitties continue to sell for the equivalent of over $300,000 USD. In total, more than $23 million worth of ether , the Ethereum blockchains currency, has been spent on CryptoKitties. Recently, the game studio that created them, Vancouver-based Axiom Zen, raised $12 million in venture capital funding. Many of these newcomers are resembling casino games a bit Since then, a number of other developers from all over the world has created their own blockchain-based collectibles, and a bunch of cryptocollectibles that resemble CryptoKittiessome blatantlyare trying to cash in on the fad. Many of them started development mere days after CryptoKitties launched, and even major companies like Baidu and Xiaomi in China have jumped on board. No fewer than two cryptocollectible games have players trading tu Continue reading >>

Ico Delayed By Ethereums Cryptokitties Congestion Coindesk

The viral CryptoKitties ethereum app has sparked growing congestion on the network, a state of affairs that has spurred one startup to briefly postpone its planned initial coin offering (ICO). The token sale for SophiaTX was originally planned to start on Dec. 5. SophiaTX, according to its website, is developing a blockchain platform for business-to-business use cases. Yet the activity around CryptoKitties an ethereum-based app that uses tokens to represent digital cats that can be traded, exchanged or bred to create more e-pets has effectively clogged up the blockchain. And while some are calling it a killer app for ethereum, the resulting interest is resulting in potentially longer wait times for would-be transactors, including those trying to participate in token sales that accept ethers, the cryptocurrency of the ethereum network. As a result, the SophiaTX team announced today, they will hold the ICOs start until this Thursday, Dec. 7. We have decided to delay the [token generation event] start by 48 hours because a very large number of participants will use ETH during and it would be a major disappointment if their attempted contributions wouldnt be processed timely and that would result in a significant backlog of transactions with very long waiting times, they said in a statement. It remains to be seen whether the interest around CryptoKitties will lead to similar decisions.Statistics from ETHGasStation.info , a network data provider, suggests that the network congestion has eased somewhat compared to yesterday , Continue reading >>
