Genesis Mining Review - It's Not As Profitable As You'd Think

Last updated on January 2nd, 2018 at 12:00 am About every other Bitcoin question I get is should I invest in cloud mining? Ive talked a lot about Bitcoin investments in the past . One of the things I always tell people who ask me about cloud mining is that I think 99.99% of the companies who offer cloud mining services are probably scams. Meaning, they dont actually mine Bitcoins with the money you give them, they only use it to pay out other users until the owners run out of money and vanish. However there is 0.01% of companies who actually do run mining hardware and mine Bitcoins for you. Genesis Mining is one of them. Genesis mining was founded in 2013 an is one of the oldest Bitcoin companies around. Its definitely one of the most well known companies when it comes to cloud mining. Genesis has a publicly known mining farm set up in Iceland as shown in this video: The miners on the farm are able to mine Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Monero, Litecoin and Zcash. However all of the information I brought in this post up until know is somewhat general knowledge. Today I want to dig in deeper into the cloud mining business model and try to answer the question is it profitable to cloud mine Bitcoins? Since there are six different currencies that can be mined I want to focus only on Bitcoin cloud mining for the moment since I believe its the most popular product on Genesis Mining. Before I begin I just want to mention that I did a previous write up on this matter almost 2years ago. The idea of cloud mining is very simple. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on Bitcoin mining hardware , you can pay someone to lease their hardware and keep the profits to yourself. The company thatrents out the miners takes care of the maintenance and all of the hassle of setting them up. Howe Continue reading >>

Find results that mention multiple specified terms, use AND or +. For example, ensure each result contains both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg by searching Musk AND Zuckerberg or Musk + Zuckerberg. Use the operators OR or , to broaden your search when you'd like either of multiple terms to appear in results. (This is the default behavior of our search when no operators are used). For example, results will contain either cake or cookie by searching cake OR cookie or cake, cookie Use NOT or - to subtract results from your search. For example, searching Disney will yield results about the Walt Disney Company as well as Walt Disney World Resort. To exclude mentions of Disney World, search for Disney -World or Disney NOT World. When using one of these operators with a phrase, enclose it in quotation marks. For example, you can find results about smartphones excluding Apple's iPhone 4S by searching smartphone -"iPhone 4s". If you're searching for a brand name or keyword that relies on specific punctuation marks or capitalization, you can find results that match your exact query by adding matchcase: before the keyword you're searching for, like Continue reading >>

I sold a ton of FPGA boards here before, but not to local buyers in Malaysia as there was no interested parties here. Same goes for my Avalon last time... so, you also selling them, I want to know, how much for each FPGA/ASIC? I sold my Ztex 1.15y's for approx ~6 BTC last time. Each is capable of doing over 880 MH/s. I still have one for fun. I sold the B1 Avalon for 250~ BTC last time though. Bought the preorder off somebody earlier for 110~ BTC last time. I guess Avalon's are getting resold again and again pretty quick. Meh, I had it for 3-4 days tops only. Sad to see it go so fast. Today, there is very much a digital gold rush where people can make a small profit by investing a few hundred dollars in equipment, and then spend months mining for digital coins before any return on their investment sets in mining are all about solving mathematical problems, which in turn act as raffle tickets. Each problem solved is called a 'proof of work' result, and counts as one raffle ticket Every time a predetermined quantity of proof-of-work results is generated, the system draws a raffle number, and one proof-of-work result is awarded a block of new coin. Every miner who contributed to solving that particular block will get some kind of proportionate share of the rewards [pool] The whole focus of mining is to accomplish three things: 1.Provide bookkeeping services to the coin network. Mining is essentially 24/7 computer accounting called 'verifying transactions'. 2. Get paid a small reward for your accounting services by receiving fractions of coins every couple of days. 3. Keep your personal costs down, including electricity and hardware. Currently, the entry cost is expensive, and parts are scare. If you already have the hardware, u can mine as a hobby for a small change. $1-2 dollars a day. Mine and keep. If you have the dough, good, go for the best spec u can get, granted u can find those GPUs Some argues that, if one's objective is to earn substantial money as a second income, then you are better off purchasing coins with cash instead of mining them. OK sure, tell me what i need to do to mine? 1. Wallet - software. Samsung To Manufacture Asic Chips For Cryptocurrency Mining

Samsung To Manufacture Asic Chips For Cryptocurrency Mining

Samsung To Manufacture ASIC Chips For Cryptocurrency Mining It looks like Samsung has entered the ASIC manufacturing foray, which is a first for the company. For those who are wondering what the term means, it stands for application-specific integrated circuit whichis basically a microchip that is custom-designed for one purpose, instead of being utilized for general-purpose usage. ASIC chips are widely used today for cryptocurrency mining purposes. A Samsung spokesperson was quoted by folks at TechCrunch saying that it is currently engaged in the manufacturing of cryptocurrency mining chips. However we are unable to disclose further details regarding our customers. That said, recent rumors have mentioned that Samsung is currently receiving massive demand for its ASIC chips mostly from its customers in China. What makes Samsungs ASIC manufacturing announcement rather interesting is because it may likely affect the current situation with graphics card prices. Despite this, it has to be said that cryptocurrency miners may still find ASIC miners unattractive compared to graphics cards because the former cannot be used for any other purpose other than digital currency mining which means that their resell value is also quite low as compared to graphics cards which are able to serve more purposes. Regardless, it remains to be seen just how big of an impact Samsungs entry to the ASIC production scene will be. The company is already pretty confident that its new business venture will cause its Q1 2018 to grow significantly. Continue reading >>

How To Mine Ethereum

How To Mine Ethereum "the Easy Way" - An Ethereum Mining Contract?

How to mine Ethereum "the Easy Way" - an Ethereum Mining Contract? How to mine Ethereum "the Easy Way" - an Ethereum Mining Contract? Ethereum is quite difficult to mine on your standard PC as there are quite a few step to go through as can be seen in our comprehensive guide here . If you aren't tech savvy or willing to give a bit of time to getting it up and running yourself, thereis another way. This is where you pay someone else to do it for you and get them to run the mining equipment on your behalf. You can compare all Bitcoin and Ethereum cloud mining contracts here . You can buy your first cloud mining contract with Genesis Mining here . This is called cloud mining. It has been happening for a long time with Bitcoin and a number of reputable providers have come to the fore where you can trust their reputation for them not to run off with your money. This is especially true of Genesis Mining who are the first to set up a batch of Ethereum Mining contracts where all you do is pay them some cash and your up and running as an Ethereum miner - as simple as that - no hassle no playing around with downloading Geth and using command prompt - and most importantly you don't have to maintain it yourself which can be a big issue if you have to keep going to restart your computer. So it saves your time! The reason Ethereum Cloud miners can get better deals is two fold. Firstly they buy in bulk, so they get a discount on all their graphics cards. Secondly they can put their mining machines in low cost locations such as Iceland. This severely reduces the operating costs of running an ethereum mining contract which means they can pass on these savings to you. In fact Genesis mining run their contracts off green energy - so you can say your being green whilst being in the avant- Continue reading >>

Intel Patents

Intel Patents "bitcoin Mining Hardware Accelerator" - Lowyat.net

A new patent filed by Intel suggests the company is seriously contemplating entering the world of cryptocurrency mining. The patent filed at the US Patent And Trademark Office (USPTO) aims to optimise bitcoin mining by reducing power usage when performing SHA-256 functions. Intel is designing the mining rig around a System on a Chip (SoC) and claims that its design can reduce power consumption by up to 35%. This is done by coupling a processor core with an accelerator core in the same SoC, which helps in computing the SHA-256 functions. In the long run, Intel says that the new design can save money by spending less time and cash on the power needed to run the rigs. Intel also noted that the new SoC design can be used outside of cryptocurrency mining. We could see the same accelerator technology used in other ASICs, SoCs, CPUs and FPGAs to help with better performance and power consumption in the long run. Intels future products may even be more power frugal with this new patent used; of course like most patents out there the chance of it being realised in the real world is slim to none, so we can only just wait and see. Google Bans All Crytocurrency Mining Chrome Extensions

Google Bans All Crytocurrency Mining Chrome Extensions

Google Bans All Crytocurrency Mining Chrome Extensions A few bad apples appears to have spoiled the whole bunch on the Chrome Web Store. Google has announced that it is banning all Chrome extensions that mine cryptocurrency. Until recently, the Google allowed Chrome extensions that explicitly mined cryptocurrency. The idea is that while mining through a browser is less than efficient, some people might want to engage in the activity anyway. The caveat being that this has to be all that the extension does. Unfortunately, a large number of extensions instead hid miners within their functions. Allowing people to steal processing cycles for cryptocurrency mining without the knowledge of their victims. Its the proliferation of these malicious extensions that has pushed Google towards getting rid of all miners on its platforms. Google has been pushing back against the use of unethical cryptocurrency activities. It recently announced that it would be blocking cryptocurrencies from its advertising platform; mostly to protect people from scams. This is unlikely to be a major problem for Chrome users or miners. For the most part, it should be for the benefit of the public as it keeps them safe from malicious actors. On the other hand, since most malicious miners are hidden, it may have little effect on the overall picture. Continue reading >>

The Asus B250 Mining Expert Allows You To Build A Beastly Mining Rig With 19 Graphics Cards

The ASUS B250 Mining Expert allows you to build a beastly mining rig with 19 graphics cards By John Law & Koh Wanzi - on 3 Okt 2017, 11:45am The ASUS B250 Mining Expert allows you to build a beastly mining rig with 19 graphics cards Meet the ASUS B250 Mining Expert, a mining-focused motherboard that helps you maximize the number of individual graphics cards you can have in a single computer. The board supports up to 19 cards an insane number which translates into higher hash rates per machine, and consequently, a higher return for every dollar spent. Mining Ethereum or other cryptocurrency requires very powerful graphics hardware. In other words, you need many, many cards working together in tandem. However, a regular motherboard generally supports up to four GPUs at most, and some dont even have space for that many. The B250 Mining Expert lets you connect up to 19 cards, so thats a key limitation solved. It can also draw power from up to three PSUs, with each one plugging into a separate 24-pin power connector that is wired to its own block of slots. According to ASUS, theres no need for additional modifications or manual startup sequences in order to use more than one PSU either. The PCIe lanes are drawn from the B250 chipset and the CPU, but the boards Mining Mode sets the PCIe interface to run at Gen 1 speeds. All the slots also default to x1 mode, so theyre all available right out of the box. Of course, youll need extension cables to run that many cards at once, given that ASUS has crammed all 19 slots onto a standard ATX board. In addition, ASUS says it is working with AMD on a new driver to remove the eight-card limit for Radeon GPUs. The driver is scheduled for release this quarter, and will allow you to properly utilize all 19 slots. As things stand, combining Continue reading >>

Is Bitcoin Cloud Mining Actually Profitable?

Is Bitcoin Cloud Mining Actually Profitable?

Is Bitcoin Cloud Mining Actually Profitable? Many people wished they had not missed the Bitcoin mining bus before the great Bitcoin boom started back in 2013. Back then you could mine Bitcoins pretty easily at home and make a very nice profit on the exchange rate. However since then, the mining difficulty has increased immensely and today it is almost impossible to mine Bitcoin profitably at home with your own hardware. The only exception is if you have very low electricity costs and manage to mine efficiently for at least 6 months without any major changes in this competitive landscape. And thats one of the reasons cloud mining was born A seemingly sophisticated way to allow people to jump on the Bitcoin mining bus without the need of costly expenses. With cloud mining you can rent mining equipment from a company that will give you back the profits from your rented mining rigs. You do not need to deal with the electricity costs, cooling down the miners or storing them, all you need to do is send out a periodical payment and you are all set.Of course this cloud mining idea quickly took off as people are always looking for new ways to make money online, however how legit and profitable are these cloud mining contracts? Thats exactly what Im about to unveil in the following post. 99% of cloud mining companies are complete a Ponzi scheme How do I know this? Well, I run a website dedicated to helping people get started with Bitcoin and every day I get another complaint about another cloud mining company that does not pay and the website seems to have gone away.Even Gavin Andresen, the previous chief scientist of the Bitcoin Foundation who has now been widely discredited because of his involvement with the charlatan Craig Wright, once said : I suspect many of them will turn Continue reading >>

Bitclub Network Ponzi Scheme Dont Fall For It.

The Club describes itself as a team of experts, professionals, and programmers who set up the Bitclub membership for the average person to cash in on Bitcoin. I see BitClub Network as a multi-level marketing (MLM) company that has identified the Bitcoin hype as an opportunity to exploit people who know very little or nothing about bitcoins, bitcoin mining, or bitcoin investments. This BitClub Network Review will show that Bitclub network is a just a underground pyramid (or Ponzi) scheme riding the massivebitcoin wave. Please do not fall for their effective but deceitful marketing tactics. Bitclub states that it has developed a software system that optimises the performance of their mining hardware, and manages allocations of mining profits to bitclub network members.
