Guide To Buying Cryptokitties (ethereum Game)

Crypto, Products, and other Random Thoughts Guide To Buying CryptoKitties (Ethereum Game) howto games blockchain ethereum guide crypto cryptokitties CryptoKitties launched in late Nov 2017, and within a week it had taken the world by storm , flooding the Ethereum transaction network and generally causing a ruckus as kitties are wont to do. This post will give you a brief introduction to the beanie babies (/neopets) of this generation, and a step-by-step guide on how to get your very own CryptoKitty. Prepare to get your paws wet! There's tons to learn in this post. To help you remember, check out my app Harvest: Take Notes and Learn Passively . It uses a memory algorithm called spaced repetition to help you remember notes just like this summary : CryptoKitties are digital cats that live purely on the Ethereum blockchain ( refresher on blockchain ). They are collectibles that you can buy, sell, and best of all, breed to create new kitties. When you own a kitty, no one can take it away from you (not even the CryptoKitty company) since your Ethereum address owns it and only you have the private key. The whole point of CryptoKitties is not only that they are beautiful digital kitties that you can admire and collect (maybe this is the whole point); you can also breed any two kitties together and create an entire unique new kitty, with its own " cattributes " and name. CryptoKitties are each part of a "Generation" which just means that the kitties that were magically created and without parents are "Generation 0" and every subsequent breeding from these kitties are "Generation +1" of the youngest of the parents. Generation 0 + Generation 0 = Generation 1 "Cattributes" (cat attributes) are what uniquely define a kitty. These describe everything about your kitty, including colo Continue reading >>

The Biggest Competitive Advantage? Flatoutcrypto

There is no doubt that to most crypto = Bitcoin. It has the brand recognition, it was the first, it attracts the bulk of media attention. This may prove to be ephemeral. Bitcoin was passed in number of transactions by Ethereum in 2017 and came close to being passed in market capitalisation too. If it was to no longer be the biggest it is unclear what competitive advantage it would have that would keep it relevant. It has a deep pool of developer talent but not as deep as Ethereum. It is able to process transactions quickly using methods such as Lightning Network but not as rapidly as projects like Nano. It remains the pair of choice on most exchanges but that is because it is the biggest and has the greatest liquidity, not because it is uniquely suited to it. Ethereum, on the other hand, has been building towards its defining differentiation since its launch. It is the platform of choice not just for raising funds for new projects but for hosting these new projects. Even if you take out the projects which are merely temporary ERC20 (the name for tokens operating on the Ethereum platform)tokens before moving to their own blockchains (such as TRON, EOS and VeChain) Ethereum still dominates the rankings. There are just seven projects in the top 100 currently operating on different platforms. The crypto space becomes the Ethereum space? Take the example of decentralised exchanges (DEXs) for example. Ethereum based DEXs only list ERC20 based tokens, which as already shown encompasses the vast majority of projects. Projects like AirSwap are squarely aimed at institutional capital and they are ERC20 only. It is easy and it is quick to trade ERC20 tokens on a range of DEXs, including IDEX, Bancor, Kyber, ForkDelta etc. If your names not ERC20 you're not getting in Conversely, Continue reading >>

How To Buy A Cryptokitty: The Complete Guide + Dna Sequencing

How To Buy a Cryptokitty: The Complete Guide + DNA Sequencing my first cryptokitty, First Parent ofDracula Yesterday I purchased my first cryptokitty on the Ethereum blockchain. Professional Mad Scientist! Thats mykitty! I dont consider myself to be the type of person who gets completely swept away by new internet fads, but when my friend told me yesterday that she made $80 by breeding her cryptokitty (and still retaining ownership), I was seized by the idea that I could earn passive income while I pimped out my virtual cats. So far, Ive earned $2.20 by pimping out my first kitty, First Parent of Dracula. This amount is really low, due mostly to me underbidding my kittys reproductive talents. Im not going to tell you how much I paid for my cryptokitty. I bought Ether early this year and paid about $70 for 1 ETH. Now 1 ETH is worth $450. Lets just say I spent way too much for my very first cryptokitty. I bought mine based on three facts: 1. My cat gave birth to a Dracula. 2. My friend who bought one two days ago told me she made $80 by breeding hers. 3. I love SalvadorDali. I wrote this complete guide after many people on Twitter were begging for answers. Heres my kitty and its name is First Parent of Dracula. Cryptokitties are like snails, meaning that all of them can get pregnant. Theres no male nor female. I made mine into an animated GIF using the free tool, Giphy. Step 1: Install the MetaMask Chrome extension: MetaMask is the most noob-friendly way to connect to the Ethereum blockchain. lf is an interesting Blockchain project. Its smart contract platform like Ethereum. Aelf team knows what exactly stopping the enterprise from adopting the blockchain. Features look good in paper and development is going on. But it may take few years to finish all the features. Its Smart contract blockchain platform like Ethereum. On chain governance similar to tezos. The protocol upgrading needs voting approval from delegates. Parallel Transactions Processing Within a Block for faster transactions. It contains main chain and side-chains, side-chains can have further side-chains like the tree. Each industry will have own side chain. (For example, ticket issuance requires high frequency where a high transaction rate in the system is desirable, while digital legal contracts emphasize high security and reliability over speed. It simply does not make sense for them both to be built around the same Chain.) Each contract will run on its own chain. (So the crypto kitten wont bring down the Dex) Each sidechain can have different Consensus algorithm. (PoW, PoS, DPos) There will be 2N+1 nodes, Where N = 8 and increment by 1 every year. Smart contracts can be programmed in any language. Aelf is inspired by Linux ecosystem. The core will take care all the complex technical stuff. It will be modular enough to build the system around it. With the max supply of 1 Bn, and current supply of 250 mn. Trading less than 2$. Aelf is a serious project to watch. The HIP DEX protocol design aims at reducing the overhead of the employed cryptographic primitives by omitting public-key signatures and hash functions. In doing so, the main goal is to still deliver similar security properties to HIPv2. The HIP DEX protocol is primarily designed for computation or memory- constrained sensor/actuator devices. Like HIPv2, it is expected to be used together with a suitable security protocol such as the Encapsulated Security Payload (ESP) for the protection of upper layer protocol data. In addition, HIP DEX can also be used as a keying mechanism for security primitives at the MAC layer, e.g., for IEEE 802.15.4 networks.Status of This Memo This Internet-Draft is submitted in full conformance with the provisions of BCP 78 and BCP 79. I Bred 'crypto Kitties' On The Ethereum Blockchain - Bitnewsbot

I Bred Crypto Kitties on the Ethereum Blockchain Trying to explain Ethereum to someone who is unfamiliar with the topic is a bit like administering anesthesia. You start by explaining a blockchain and their eyes slowly glaze over. By the time youve gotten to smart contracts and ICOs , theyre slack jawed and drooling all over the place. When youre finished and they regain consciousness, they wont remember a thing. This is all to say that learning about and using Ethereum most succinctly described as a distributed computing platform based on a public ledgercan be unbelievably dull. In a bid to make blockchain technology fun, a Canadian tech company called Axiom Zen has created CryptoKitties , a game where players breed and trade cats using smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Kitties should be a part of this revolution of bringing blockchain technology to the masses, Benny Giang, a product manager at Axiom Zen told me in an email. So many great companies are building awesome technology that the world wont care about or understand. Were the flag bearer for the rest of this ecosystem in terms of getting celebrities to associate with kitties and the Ethereum network. A test version of CryptoKitties was unveiled last weekend at ETH Waterloo, the largest Ethereum hackathon in the world. It was accompanied by a breeding competition that challenged participants to breed digital kittens with certain physical traits and rewarded breeders with real Ether (the digital money that powers apps on the Ethereum network). As a cat-lover with an interest in Ethereum , when I heard about the project I thought Id try my hand at breeding a few crypto kitties of my own. CryptoKitties will be officially released on November 1, meaning players can spend real money (in the form of Ether, Continue reading >>

What Kittens Can Teach Us About Scaling Blockchains

What Kittens Can Teach Us About Scaling Blockchains What Kittens Can Teach Us About Scaling Blockchains People are spendingmillions of dollarson digital cats! The Ethereum network transaction delayswere front and center this week, as CryptoKitties the first Ethereum-based decentralized gaming app (DAPP) clogged the network, which lead to slow and expensive transactions. This is relevant because if one viral game can hinder the effectiveness and speed of the second largest blockchain, it shows how early in the game we are. CryptoKitties has a decentralized marketplace where users can buy, sell, and giftdigital catsusing Ethereum. The object of the game is to maximize rare or desirable cattributes throughbreeding your furry virtual friends. In terms of popularity, its been compared to the Beanie Baby mania of the 1990s. Players can find an index of all traits in order of scarcity on CryptoKitty Dex .Traits include physical characteristics likechestnut and ragamuffin, but alsomore abstract oneslike sizzurp and totesbasic. Breeding two parents with favorable traits increases the probability of desirable traits in the offspring, but like human genetics, there are no guarantees. Before you start digging up yourPunnett Squarehomework from 7th Grade Biology, note thatthe exact algorithm to breedrare Kitties is a well guarded secret by the games developers, AxiomZen . The rarest of these Kitties are being sold/bred for upwards of 250ETH (~$115,000). There are plenty selling for less than 1 ETH (~$450 or less), so you can imagine why even non-gamers are taking a look. Theres even a newly created CryptoKitties Meet Up in Group Los Angeles ! Regardless of whether you think playing CryptoKitties is a good use of your hard-HODLd ETH, its a great test case for how well DAPPs will perf Continue reading >>

Cryptokitties Frequently Asked Questions (updating) - Crypto Kitty World

Guides for collecting and breeding digital cats! Crypto Kitties Guide Frequently Asked Questions. List of Common Issues and How to fix it (updating)can be found here . Generally, anything gen 0/1/2/3/4, with fast/swift/snappy/brisk is a good kitty. Rare traits make it even better. Currently Mainecoon, whixtensions, and wingtips are the 3 rarest. 3. How can I know what to price my kitties for? If youre selling them, check the marketplace and try to gauge how much yours would be. IE, if you were selling a gen 4 swift kitty with average traits then youd go on the market place, search gen:4 and see what price the swift ones are selling at. The cryptokitties discord (in the sidebar) also has a #price_discussion. Fancy cats are extremely rare cats. There are currently ony 911 (check here: ) the current types are: Definitely. HOWEVER, playing this game purely to make profit might make it less enjoyable for you. Looking for rare traits in relatively underpriced cats can be really good. 6. Is there a way to get notified of a completed transaction? But you can get notified via Email once a kitten born. If you register an account on Etherscan you can. 7. Do iI have to pay a fee to put my sire on the market?Should I use a normal gas limit/gwei? As far as I know, you dont have to. However, you need to adjust the the Gwei carefully otherwise it will be canceled due to out of gas. See average Gwei in (you can wait for your turn orset Gwei higher for quick processing) 8. When it says bun in the oven 18 hours. How long does it take for the baby to come? Normally 18 hours. You will receive an email like this once the kitten arrives Normally 20-30 Gwei should be fine to confirm the transaction in a few minutes, in extreme cases you might have to go up to 60. ethgasstation.info can be hel Continue reading >>

Hacking The Cryptokitties Genome

Hacking The Cryptokitties Genome

My friend Anshul recently told me about CryptoKitties. I had heard about it clogging up the ETH pipes and causing the price to drop but had not realized what an amazing design the CryptoKitties team had realized. CryptoKitties are basically breed-able beanie babies built on top of the ethereum blockchain. And yet, they are also so much more than that: CryptoKitties are a digital playground where programmers, geneticists, and experts in economics, bioinformatics, machine learning and game theory can come together to learn and play. For those of you new to CryptoKitties, have a look at the Mashable guide ; this will teach you the basics of the CryptoKitties game system. To get a better view of exactly just what a kitty is you can go through the CryptokittiesCore contract . Youll find that a CryptoKitty is basically a struct on the EVM that looks like this. function isGeneScience() public pure returns (bool); /// @dev given genes of kitten 1 & 2, return a genetic combination - may have a random factor /// @return the genes that are supposed to be passed down the child function mixGenes(uint256 genes1, uint256 genes2, uint256 targetBlock) public returns (uint256); Wow a secret. This is THE secret. If youve been playing cryptokitties you know this is how kitties are produced. Youll notice that siring kitties produces offspring in a manner that feels intuitive: features get passed on from parents to offspring sometimes but not always, sometimes skipping generations. This is the code that runs at the conception of cryptokitties with non-zero generations. A brief genetics remedial from your 10th grade biology class A phenotype (from Greek phainein, meaning to show , and typos, meaning type) is the composite of an organism s observable characteristics or traits , such as its mo Continue reading >>

You've heard there's a new kitty-related crypto fad in town, and you want in on the action. This is exactly what you're looking for. In this article, we'll explain how to play CryptoKitties , the game that's taking the world by storm (and earning some people a fair amount of money). SEE ALSO: Cryptokitties is Ethereum's hit game, but it's threatening the entire network CryptoKitties is a digital goods trading game that lives on the Ethereum blockchain. It lets you purchase, trade, and breed digital kittens. The game has no straightforward "goal" you can simply buy a digital kitten, and it will eternally be yours due to the nature of blockchain technology. However, kittens come with different visual features, called traits, and some of these traits are rarer than others. Naturally, most users are trying to breed rare cats, not only because they look cool, but also because they can be very expensive; one particularly rare cat was recently sold for more than a hundred thousand dollars. In fact, the total kitten sales so far are around $3 million dollars ; pretty impressive given the game launched last week. Before we go on any further, please note that this game requires ether (the currency of Ethereum) to play, which can be converted into real money, and that it can get expensive fast (though it can also be lucrative if you play your kittens right). It also resembles a bit of a pyramid structure, meaning that early adopters were able to buy rare kittens cheaper than you probably will be able to. Finally, the game is currently putting quite a strain on Ethereum's network, and if this becomes a serious proble Continue reading >>

Useful Tools For Analyzing Cryptokitties

Useful Tools For Analyzing Cryptokitties

in cryptokitties 2 years ago (edited) As for now the "CryptoKitties" are not as hot as 2 weeks ago. But I still believe in the team because after I've read their white paper , I know the team is on the right track, and they will go back with a bigger wave. In order to buy ideal kitties, I realized that tools for analyzing these cuties are essential. Here I listed what I've found and let's check out how they work. The KittyExtension is a browser extension made for chrome and firefox. With chrome, firstly you need to install a javascript management extension called TamplerMonkey , then install the script inside TamperMonkey. By turning on KittyExtension, the kitten's catrributes are grouped and colored by rarity. Thus we will know if a kitten is rare enough, intuitively. The best part of the extension is all the cattributes are listed and sorted by rarity on the left. We can click on the catrribute we want and list all the cats which are having it, fantastic! KittyExplorer is a website that collecting the transactions data of CryptoKitties. Besides the data of each cat, the most useful part is the statistical data of all CryptoKitties, such as how many kitties were bred(and gen 0 cats adopted) per day, how many kitties were sold per day, how much money(ether) spent per day and the average kittie price per day. Also, the price history of each cat is tracked, so we can locate the transactions (by txhash) happened on every cat easily. A chrome extension is provided as well, which is making the tool more convenient and powerful. Unlike KittyExplorer, CryptoKittyDex is a powerful tool for checking each kitten's trading history, providing much more details on transactions, catrributes, and even genes, instead of making statistics on all CryptoKitties. All catributes are listed Continue reading >>

Little Bitty Kitties Are Killing Ethereum

Little Bitty Kitties Are Killing Ethereum

What is CryptoKitties and What is it Doing to Ethereum? CryptoKitties is a game centered around breedable, collectible, and oh-so-adorable creatures we call CryptoKitties! Each cat is one-of-a-kind and 100% owned by you; it cannot be replicated, taken away, or destroyed. Think, Tamagotchi for the age of blockchain. The app, which uses Ethereum s blockchain to create a public, shared history of cryptographically unique furry friends, is Ethereums most popular. Users have spent at least $6 million total on breeding, buying and selling the in-game items. The average cat is trading for $100 inEther. Why are we talking about digital cats Well, the popularity of the app and rapidly growing Ether transactions associated with the app are clogging up the Ethereumnetwork. Right now, about 20% of all Ethereum network traffic is dedicated to the game, making it the most popular smart contract on the network. To put this in perspective, number two with about 8% of network transactions is EtherDelta, a popular decentralized token exchange where many newly launched tokens aretraded. According to Blocktivity , the Ethereum blockchain is currently running at 100% maximum performance with 23,322 unconfirmed transactions, or overflow transaction that are waiting to be processed. This traffic is making it difficult to play CryptoKitties. The company stated Due to network congestion, we are increasing the birthing fee from 0.001 ETH to 0.002 ETH. This will ensure your kittens are born ontime!". This congestion doesnt just affect crypto kitties game, if negatively affects user experience for anything built on Ethereum, or any business that accepts Ethereum. This can lead to many unforseen problems. Some ICOs have announced they were delaying their launch due to the Ethereum network congesti Continue reading >>
