How To Mine Ethereum On Windows With Your Computers Gpus

How To Mine Ethereum On Windows With Your Computers Gpus

The first step is to download the Visual Studio Express Community Edition 2013 . Next, depending on your GPU platform, you must then download the OpenCL SDK. For example, if you have AMD GPUs, the SDK to download is the AMD APP SDK v2.9.1. Similarly, for Nvidia GPUs, the SDK to download is here . Thirdly, install Git for Windows and it would be beneficial to become familiar with the commands in Git for the later steps. Fourthly, install CMake for Windows ; where you should use the installer package. Using Git, check out cpp-ethereum by opening a command prompt, finding a directory you like, typing the following command; git clone . Next, the develop branch of cpp-ethereum needs to be switched. To do this, in that same terminal, cd into the /cpp-ethereum directory (the one created by the previous Git command), and then type the following command; git checkout develop. Next, cd into /cpp-ethereum/extdep, and run the following command; getstuff.bat. After running this command, you should see numerous downloads in progress. Next, cd back into /cpp-ethereum, and run the following command; cmake -DETHASHCL=1 -G Visual Studio 12 2013 Win64 This will prepare the project for compiling. The next step is to open Visual Studio and locate the ethereum.sln solution file within the /cpp-ethereum directory. Once you have found it, open it up. Visual Studio might display complaints about some things being in the wrong format; just ignore this and let Visual Studio just do its thing. After it opens, it will scan some files and configurate to make Visual Studio happy. Following this, a list of projects should appear on your right-hand side. Locate ethminer, right click on it and select the Build option. This will build the project from source. Lots of warning boxes will appear but you sh Continue reading >>

@/all (I think) we are ready to switch to Visual Studio 2015, all scripts and binaries are in place. To download dependencies you do cmake -P webthree-helpers/deps/install_deps.cmake. Also, all build configurations are supported: Debug, Release, RelWithDebInfo, RelMinSize. @chfast nice! What does that mean in practice? What do we have to do on the build machine? :-) just brew install ethereum and the ethminer is not part of the package anymore Yes, @chriseth. We need VS2015 installed on the build machine. Also, still have the directory lock issue on that machine. Maybe needs rebooting? @loxal You need to do brew install cpp-ethereum. ethereum is geth. @bobsummerwill I also remember that package but then I get curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found Error: Failed to download resource "cpp-ethereum" error: no such remote ref ebb5b11dc516a5df3cb0d8579bb81f194dbce0d5 Fetched in submodule path 'webthree-helpers/deps', but it did not contain ebb5b11dc516a5df3cb0d8579bb81f194dbce0d5. Ether Mining With Your Own Hardware | We Will Show You How To Do It

Anyone can buy Ether. We want to earn Ether ourselves and besides that, make the Ethereum network safer. Ether Mining is rewarded with 3 Ether each block. But this is not it. Furthermore, the gas which exists of fees for transactions and contracts, is declared in addition to these 3 Ether per block. It is assumed that, as time goes by, the reward of the gas with 3 Ether per block will exceed a lot. But it is getting even better. Further Ether for uncles will be declared every now and then, in addition to the 3 Ether per block and the reward for the gas. Which means, another up tp 7/8 of the 3 Ether from the block on top. So many Ether After all, we want to point out that Ether solo Mining requires a lot of luck. The computing power of the entire Ethereum Network is tremendous and therefore it will be pretty hard to snatch a block. Still, Ether solo Mining is an exciting thing. In the following, we will show you all the essential equipment you need for a successful start with Ether solo Mining with windows. Continue reading >>

Quick Guide To Mining Ethereum On Windows

Quick Guide To Mining Ethereum On Windows

So you want to mine some Ethereum? Here's a quick guide to get started on Windows! First, you should have a graphics card with more than 2GB of onboard memory (also known as video RAM). In other words: 3GB or more memory is necessary (with a few exceptions - see bottom of this article). The simple reason for this is that mining requires loading a big file known as the "DAG" into memory in order to work, and this file has increased in size so much that since sometime in 2016, mining using graphics cards with 2GB has stopped working for most people. So, you have a graphics card with more than 2GB of memory? Great! Now all you need to get started is a couple of apps. First, you should get yourself the official Ethereum Wallet app. Go to and scroll down until you see the first "Download" headline. That will be followed by download links to different "versions" of the Ethereum Wallet app, for different systems. Click the link that says "Ethereum-Wallet-win64" followed by some version numbers to download it. This is the wallet you'll want usually. (Note: If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, you'll need to download the one that ends with -win32 instead.) Extract the zip file by right-clicking it or double clicking it and choosing extract all. Then run the Ethereum Wallet (Ethereum Wallet.exe) by double clicking it. The first time you start the Ethereum Wallet app, it will need to download the blockchain in order to sync all the necessary data. Depending on your connection speed and sice of the blockchain, this can take up to several hours. Click "Launch Application" if/when that option shows up: So what's the point of this app? You need a wallet address for your Ether to be sent to, once you start mining! Think of it like a bank account number for receiving your payments Continue reading >>

Getting Started With Ethereum Using Cpp-ethereum

Getting Started With Ethereum Using Cpp-ethereum

Getting Started with Ethereum Using cpp-ethereum Our previous guides regarding mining and using Ethereums Ether (ETH) coins were based on the Go Ethereum implementation ( source ) as we find it easier to be used than the C++ implementation of the Ethereum client ( source ) even though we are actually using ethminer for the actual mining which is a part of cpp-ethereum and not go-ethereum package. The Go Ethereum implementation (geth) only comes with built in support for CPU mining, while the C++ implementation (eth) contains support for OpenCL GPU mining both as a part of the client as well as a separate miner (ethminer) and there is also a fork of ethminer with CUDA support available ( source ). So now it is time to get started with using the cpp-ethereum (eth) client for creatng a local wallet and for mining both solo on a local system or on an Ethereum mining pool using eth and ethminer. Our guide is for using eth and ethminer on Windows with binaries provided only for that OS (version 0.9.40 64-bit), though the usage should be the same or very similar on other operating systems, but you will need to compile or get binaries for the respective OS. We have tried to make the guide easy and simple to follow, so that you can begin using Ethereum and mining Ether in just a couple of minutes. First we need to create a local wallet and this is the first thing you will do when you run the eth client software. But before that a word of warning, if you have a working geth installation you should know that both Ethereum clients will use the same folder for the blockchain data by default, though the contents of the folder will not be compatible. The key files that are needed for you Ethereum wallet however will be stored in different places and each client will use ts own wallet Continue reading >>

Start Mining Ethereum: How To Download And Install Ethminer

Start Mining Ethereum: How to Download and Install Ethminer If youre like many other people who follow the cryptocurrency mining market then you have watched the meteoric rise in the value of Ethereum and Bitcoin mining. Many people are looking to cash in on this market trend through Bitcoin mining for themselves rather than buy the hot cryptocoin through online marketplaces. Ethminer is one of the recommended ways to mine Ethereum but installing it on Windows can be a little more complicated than simply hitting download then install. This step-by-step mining software instillation guide will help you through the process and get Ethminer up and running so you can dip your big toe into the mining pool. Ethminer requires you to build from source. If you have never done this before then the process may seem complicated. However, its really not too difficult to do as long as you follow the steps. A person who is relatively comfortable with working on their computer should be able to handle this. First of all, before you are able to download any cryptocurrency mining software and enter the mining pool, you will obviously need a computer. Visual Studio Express is a free compiler from Microsoft that will work just fine for what you need to do. Next, you need to download your GPU platforms OpenCL SDK. These can be found with a quick Google search. If you have AMD graphics cards then grab the AMD SDK and if you have NVidia cards then you would obviously opt for the NVidia SDK. Finding everything easy so far? Lets keep moving, then. If you dont already have Git you will need to install that as well. Also, you will have to install CMake for Windows as well. Once youve done all the above, use Git to look at cpp-ethereum. Open a command prompt, find a directory, and then type the co Continue reading >>

Install The Command Line Tools

Install The Command Line Tools

Command line tools for the Ethereum Network These are tools for blockchain developers. The command line tools will allow you to connect your server to or run your application on the Ethereum blockchain or your own private blockchain. For security purposes , three independent implementations were created for Ethereum. The clients have almost identical functionality, so the one you pick is left to personal choice on platform, language and what your planned use is for the network. If you are building a business that needs to have maximum uptime guarantees to the Ethereum network, we recommend that you run at least one instance of both clients to ensure reliability. The Go implementation is called Geth. Geth has been audited for security and will be the future basis for the enduser-facing Mist Browser, so if you have experience with web development and are interested in building frontends for dapps, you should experiment with Geth. Install Homebrew and make sure it's up to date: Then use these commands to install ethereum: brew tap ethereum/ethereumbrew install ethereum For more, see the full documentation on Mac OSX Geth Download the latest stable binary , extract it, download the zip file, extract geth.exe from zip, open a command terminal and type: chdir open geth.exe For more, see the full documentation on Windows Geth sudo apt-get install software-properties-commonsudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereumsudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install ethereum For other environments and more instruction, see the full documentation on Geth The C++ implementation is simply called Eth. If you want added security by running two different implementations in parallel or are serious about GPU mining, then the C++ "Eth" client is for you. Install Homebrew and then make sure it Continue reading >>

This guide is a mining guide that goes through the steps on how to set up the software and configure it on a Windows PC. This guide does not show you how to build an ethereum mining rig . Download Geth .Gethis the program that communicates with theEthereum Networkand acts as the relay between your computer, its hardware and the rest of the Ethereum network. Once you have it downloaded, save it somewhere(Desktop is easiest) and unzip the file. Then copy Geth applicationtoyour C: drive. Next, start upCommand Prompt and navigate to the C: drive. If you dont know how to get to the C: drive, simply typecd \and now you be looking atC:\. Now you are ready to launch Geth. Just type geth account newand hit enter. You will be asked toenter a passphrase. You will not be able to see what you are typing. Guard this passphrase with your dear life! It locks your account and keeps your private key safe. If you lose it or gets stolen, you will lose all of your Ethereum that is held within the wallet held by that Private key. Once you have entered your password and confirmed it by entering it a second time you will have created a new wallet! The wallet address is given to you. Write it down or copy it since you will need this a bit later. Now that you have your wallet ready, you will need to getGethto start communicating with the rest of theEthereum network. Typegeth rpcand hit enter. The screen should start downloading theblockchain for Ethereum. You are synchronizing with the rest of the Ethereum network while it is downloading. The process can take up to a few hours so be patient. Sometimes you Continue reading >>

How To Connect To An Ethereum Mining Pool?

How To Connect To An Ethereum Mining Pool?

How to connect to an Ethereum mining pool? Ethereum mining is best done by joining a mining pool so that there is a steady stream of Ether's into your wallet and in this guide we will show you a step by step process to do just this. In our "How to Mine Ethereum on a Windows PC" we showed you how to install all the software to get your computer mining with its graphics card and failing that, with its CPU. However this isn't the whole process, as when you mine on your own the chance of finding a block is incredibly small considering the total amount of hashing power in the network - so the best option is to join a mining pool to smooth the volatility of returns - you can read about the benefits of joining a bitcoin or ethereum mining pool here . Step 1: If you have gone through our guide here on how to set up your computer to mine ethereum you are most of the way there - in fact all you need is an address which you can get from the EthDev wallet - which is basically a nice interface to doing exactly the same process. The reason you need a wallet or address is to tell the pool where to pay your money! You don't need to sync the blockchain - the mining pool provider will do this for you! Step 2: Once you have an address you need to start ethminer - and if you haven't installed this you can do so by following the section. 2.1Now you need to download Ethminer which makes your GPU or CPU run the hashing algorithm that is integral to securing the Ethereum network through proof of work. You can download this here and be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to get the right version - the latest and most up to date one is right at the end. 2.2 Click on the download and click install. Your firewall can cause issues but just click allow if it does so - the same is true of Continue reading >>

Want to install CPP 1.2.7 on a Lubuntu 14.04 32-Bit system. It says to do that from terminal, but do I do that from the Geth console in terminal or just straight from the terminal. The guide I downloaded doesn't use "sudo" so I am wondering. This is our guide ... ... and these are commands to execute in a bash shell, or similar, not inside the geth Javascript console. @slothbag I'll just install myself right now, and see if I can replicate. Just to verify, you run this Windows installer, right? And you are sure that the solc you are running is in C:\Program Files\cpp-ethereum? yes, that is the guide I have, but lower down, it says to use "apt-get install cpp-ethereum" and I am wondering if I need to put "sudo" in front of that command or if it runs once I open Geth console. @bobsummerwill OK, will try from terminal, but if it doesn't run, will use "sudo" in front of command @agnewpickens sudo is just to do with whether you are running the package install using your own user account, or with elevated permissions globally.
