How To Buy Ethereum Or Litecoin Instantly

How To Buy Ethereum Or Litecoin Instantly

Business writer by day; coin trader by night. This blog is for my semi-professional thoughts & insights on cryptocurrency investing in 2018. How to Buy Ethereum or Litecoin Instantly So you heard about a sick new altcoin, destined to boom 10x this year. Youre itching to buy, but quickly discovered a problem: It cant be purchased directly with USD. Instead, you need to buy Ethereum or Bitcoin first, then exchange it for your sweet new nest egg. However, every vendor seems to have long wait times 2 weeks to verify your ID, 7 days for a bank transfer, etc. By then your coin could be on the moon, while youre stuck picking your nose. Fortunately, there are ways to buy ETH or LTC instantly with no wait times at all. The easiest method is using Coinbase and paying with a debit/credit card. Ill walk you through the steps, then explain how to send coins from Coinbase to an exchange. Head to Coinbase and create a new account. You can do this on desktop or mobile, although youll need to install the app on mobile. Word to the wise: If you use my referral link above , we both get an extra $10. Once youve verified your phone number, click Buy at the bottom of the screen and then select which coin you want to purchase. On Desktop, the steps are similar. Just click Buy/Sell and select your coin. Protip: Dont buy bitcoin if you plan on transferring it to an exchange. Transfer fees are currently ~$30 USD due to extreme network congestion, compared to $2.50 for ETH and $0.25 for LTC. Next youll be prompted to set up a payment account. Choose Credit/Debit Card, as this is the only method that works instantly. If this option isnt available you may be required to verify your identification first (more on this next). Assuming its available, however, click this option, and enter your card inf Continue reading >>

Litecoin, Ethereum Investors Fuming As Trading Disabled On Coinbase

Litecoin, Ethereum Investors Fuming as Trading Disabled on Coinbase Just as litecoin prices reach new records, up 75% in the past 24 hours, one of the most widely used online wallets has disabled trading. It surely isn't the meteoric price rally that's got cryptocurrency investors fuming Tuesday, so what is it? Traders can't buy and sell litecoin and ethereum on Coinbase, one of the most popular wallet providers in service.Crypto tradersusing Twitter have been sounding off about Coinbase after the company disabled buying and selling for litecoin and ethereum sometime in mid-morning Tuesday, Dec. 12. Investors have vociferously criticized Coinbase Tuesday for "shady" practices, as litecoin and ethereum are up 75% and 25%, respectively, over the past 24 hours. I don't use @coinbase but come on..... You can't just block people from selling when the price is high like some shady brokerage firm from the 80s. Unacceptable. pic.twitter.com/nVC4cbZOtc Matt Price (@vMattPrice) December 12, 2017 Coinbase performed scheduled maintenance overnight, according to the company. By the early morning hours Tuesday, the maintenance was reported as complete. Maintenance has been successfully completed and all services are operating as normal A few Twitter users said they were able to do some thin buying and selling, but far more spoke out about the site's blocks set up Tuesday. @coinbase It says that "Litecoin and Ethereum buys and sells are temporarily disabled." Yet some buying and selling continues. Maybe if you are disabling trade disable all trade. Shawn Loftin (@SHLoftin) December 12, 2017 Y'all can't verify my ID, can't buy LTC or ETH. What are you good for? @coinbase Several reported the issue is with verifying bank accounts. It's unclear when trading will resume, as Coinbase had Continue reading >>

How To Buy Ripple (xrp) Using Your Coinbaseaccount

How To Buy Ripple (xrp) Using Your Coinbaseaccount

How To Buy Ripple (XRP) Using Your CoinbaseAccount So you want figure out how to buy Ripple (XRP) without opening another account, huh? Well, you could get people to send you Ripple to a wallet (such as Toast or the like) in exchange for goods or services, but if you dont have any goods or services to sell, you will have to find another way. Luckily, there are several ways to do this. However, until Coinbase adds XRP, you are going to have to open at least one other account. Option 1: Join Kraken , Bitstamp , Gatehub , or Bittrex These are all exchanges with similarities to Coinbase , but they all seem to require a lot of personal information for signup and we have seen the account verification process take up to two weeks for some of them. However, once it does go through, you can deposit money (USD) directly into the account and buy XRP on the exchange. (Note: on Kraken, you must first buy XBT and then use that to buy XRP.) Option 2: Open an account on Binance and then send your Coinbase coins (BTC or ETH) there. For Coinbase users who dont want to put more actual cash into cryptocurrencies, this is the easiest option. Also, doing this will allow you to get your hands on XRP or (other ALT coins not currently traded on Coinbase) today. The one, obvious drawback is that you cant purchase XRP (or anything else) with USD on Binance. But, what you can do, once you set up your Binance account, is send either Bitcoin or Ethereum from your Coinbase account to Binance and buy XRP with ETH or BTC. This way you arent forced to link your credit card or bank to another exchange and you can use your existing coins to fund your purchase of Ripple. It sounds a lot harder than it is to buy XRP, but it took me all of five minutes to figure this out. And if you need to see it done, ste Continue reading >>

I am a complete noob at investing. I have never bought stock or invested in anything before but I have $300 I would like to turn into Ethereum. Could someone please tell me step by step how to purchase and own Ethereum using USD? Consider making the answer as accepted, you can do it by checking the tick sign under votes. niksmac Mar 25 '16 at 1:11 I hope you went and did it right after you asked the question... that $300 looks like about $4,000 now StaringFrog Jun 6 '17 at 3:36 I don't know how this comment became the de-facto guide, but it's really not the best as it doesn't have any pictures and doesn't introduce you to Ethereum properly. Ethereum and digital currencies are a pretty new world and in this new world, things can be a little bit different. First, you are responsible for your stuff. Your investments, your choices, your security. There are no babysitters or undo buttons or a bank to call up and reverse your transaction. The power of the blockchain is this, but it's also a dangerous thing if you are expecting to have all the cushy things you've come to enjoy. Secondly, most of the people involved in this world are pretty technical and sometimes forget how different things are. Take your time, ask questions, ask for clarification reach out for help, read the instructions, read the warnings, hang out, and try to learn new things. Scams and phishing sites and malicious links exist. Trust messages and random links about as much as those in your spambox. Verify verify verify. Always save & back up your private key in a separate location, like a piece of paper or a USB drive. Avoid cloud storage. Be skeptical. Does the person have an ulterior motive? Is that too good to be true? Create an account on Gemini or Coinbase or Kraken. Verify that account. You will need Continue reading >>

Coinbase Halts Bitcoin Cash Trading Abruptly After Launch

Coinbase Halts Bitcoin Cash Trading Abruptly After Launch

Coinbase Halts Bitcoin Cash Trading Abruptly After Launch Dec 20, 2017 at 02:40 UTC|UpdatedDec 20, 2017 at 13:40 UTC Shortly after the sudden news it would add support for the cryptocurrency bitcoin cash, U.S. exchange startup Coinbase has already moved to disable trading of its newest asset. Announced today via a blog post to users, the decision to add the cryptocurrency, the third-largest by market capitalization, comes months after developers backing the effort cloned the bitcoin blockchain , effectively creating a competing network that claimed to enable a greater volume of transactions. Using a mechanism called a hard fork, however, the project created unique complications for exchanges, as by copying bitcoin's ledger at the time of the split, Coinbase users who held bitcoin were effectively owners of bitcoin cash as well. As such, a sudden influx of users armed with capital appears to have put a strain on the exchange, the most well-capitalized in the U.S. market. At press time, buying and selling of bitcoin cash were disabled on the platform, with the last quoted price listed at nearly $9,000 , more than $6,000 above the market price of $2,900, according to data provider CoinMarketCap. According to the exchange's official status blog , trading was disabled after about four minutes after it began. Trading went live at 17:20 PST and was pulled back to post-only mode at 17:24, records show. "All BCH books will enter cancel-only mode, and all existing orders will be cleared. While in cancel-only mode, no new orders will be accepted. We will post an update shortly," the exchange wrote at 18:30 PST, and later tweeted. The service outage does not appear to have affected either the exchange's other assets or its Coinbase brokerage service, which allows users to buy and Continue reading >>

How To Sell Ethereum For Usd | Beginners Guide

How to sell Ethereum for USD | Beginners Guide Whether youve earned Ethereum through mining or purchased ethereum , there may come a time where you want to cash out some of your stash for goodol fashioned U.S. dollars. I cant blame you. Sometimes you need to pay the bills, and most businesses dont accept crypto as currency (yet.) The easiest and cheapest way to sell Ethereum is by using an exchange with an ETH/USD pairing. In this brief article, Ill walk you through the selling process on three of the most popular exchanges used to sell Ethereum. Coinbase is the simplest platform to sell Ethereum on. They have web and mobile interfaces that you can use to sell, but Im only going to cover the web platform here. The steps to sell on the mobile app are almost identical. First, create a Coinbase account and enter your bank account information. After that, you need to send your Ethereum from its current wallet to your Coinbase wallet. Navigate to the Accounts tab and tap the Receive button for your Ethereum wallet. Youll be shown the public address to which you can send your funds. After sending your Ethereum to your Coinbase wallet, click on the Buy/Sell tab. Then, select the Sell option and make sure your currency is set to Ethereum. From there, you can set how much Ethereum youd like to sell and confirm your transaction. Coinbase charges 1.49% when selling into a U.S. bank account or USD Coinbase wallet. Sales to a PayPal account are hit with a 3.99% fee. Gemini is another exchange you can use to sell your Ethereum for USD. The platform is slightly more complicated than Coinbase and is only on the web. To sell Ethereum through Gemini , you first need to create a profile and attach a bank account.Next, navigate to the ETH deposit section of the platform via the TRANSFER F Continue reading >>

How To Invest In Ethereum (and Is It Too Late)

How To Invest In Ethereum (and Is It Too Late)

Home How To Invest In Ethereum (And Is It Too Late) How To Invest In Ethereum (And Is It Too Late) Ethereum has become a popular cryptocurrency alternative to Bitcoin over the last year. However, unlike Bitcoin and rival currency Litecoin, Ethereum has been adopted by many companies and startups as a way to transact (and more). In the cryptocurrency wars, I like to view Ethereum like the diamond of the currencies - it has both a intrinsic value and an industrial value. Compare this to Bitcoin, which operates like gold - not much industrial value, but people buy it and sell it based on it's intrinsic value to the holder. Given the popularity of Ethereum, many people are curious about what it actually is, how it's different than Bitcoin, and how to invest in it. It's also important to note the risks of investing, and the potential to mine it and create your own wealth of Ether (the actual monetary unit of Ethereum ). Before we dive in, it's important to note that to look at, use, and transact in Ethereum, you need a digital wallet. We recommend Coinbase because it's free, has a great app, and they give you a bonus for depositing $100 . Check it out. Ethereum is basically software that is decentralized and allows developers and programmers to run the code of any application. Wait, what? I thought Ethereum was money... well it has a monetary aspect. You see, Bitcoin uses a technology called blockchain specifically for conducting monetary transaction - it's a straight currency. Ethereum uses blockchain technology to allow the creation of applications that can be executed in the cloud, can be protected from manipulation, and much more (some stuff getting too technical for me here). However, a bi-product of this is that Ethereum uses a token called Ether, which is like Bitcoi Continue reading >>

Mindful entrepreneur & cyclist who meditates in Brooklyn, NY | Tech, OPS and M&A consulting pays the bills | Feeling excited about blockchains potential [Updated] Heres How to Buy Ether with USD (Even If You Live In NewYork) This post describes how to buy Ether in United States Dollars. This process works even if you live in New York. Thats not as easy as itsounds. Shapeshift.io became unavailable in New York State since I wrote the original post. Im a bit confused because I wrote the original post after Shapeshift announced they were leaving New York. Im a curious person by nature and decided to look into this further. Less than 5 minutes of research revealed a solution. Ive updated this post to include the workaround. See step 3B for the update. Update #2 Coinbase is now approved to trade Ether, even in New York State. Now anyone can establish an account on Coinbase and buy Ether with USD. I should say here that I wrote this article as an academic exploration of how to but Ether with USD. Its not intended, at all, to be an offer of investment advice, tax advice or anything else remotely related to using Ether as a financial vehicle. Im simply a blockchain enthusiast. I enjoy challenges and enjoy experimenting with new technologies. I only work with very small amounts of Bitcoin and Ether during my experiments. I live in Brooklyn, New York. A blockchain sticker on a mailbox in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, sparked my interest in blockchain. You can read more about how that happened here. This interest lead me to Ethereum and now Golem. Im planning to participate in Golems crowdfunding process tomorrow. You can r ead more about how I plan to do that here. First I need Ether. This post describes the steps I used to buy Ether in USD. Its not a straightforward process right now Continue reading >>

How To Instantly Buy Ethereum With A Credit/debit Card

How To Instantly Buy Ethereum With A Credit/debit Card

How To Instantly Buy Ethereum With A Credit/Debit Card By: Sudhir Khatwani In: Ethereum Last Updated: If Bitcoin is the undisputed king of cryptocurrencies, then Ethereum is the queen. This year has especially been promising for the Ethereum cryptocurrency. From the start of the year until this point in time, Ethereum has grown more than 1,800%. The formation of the EEA , proof-of-stake talks, and the ICO madness on the Ethereum platform are the reasons for this quick price rally. This has made Ether (ETH) a hot cake in the cryptocurrency market, and it is proudly the most promising altcoin out there. And because of this, you probably want to get ahold of some ETH tokens. You will probably go and buy some BTCs and get them exchanged via Poloniex or Bittrex. This might take a really long time, and youll possibly need to wait days for everything to go through. But whats the point of buying ETH in several days? If you are familiar with the crypto-space, then you might know that waiting too long defeats the whole purpose of buying cryptocurrencies. You need not wait too long for your Ether (ETH) tokens. You can buy Ether (ETH) directly if you have a VISA/MasterCard credit or debit card. Most cryptocurrency exchanges accept only cryptocurrencies or wire transfers, but as the whole ecosystem has matured, some have also started accepting credit/debit cards. So, without further delay, here is the list of some popular and legit websites that accept credit/debit cards: Select the amount of Ethereum to buy/sell. The card verification might take 24-48 hours, but after that, you can buy ETH instantly. Thats why we recommend you that you keep your card configured in CEX even if you dont have immediate plans to buy ETH. Dont worry, your card details will be safe and secure with CEX. Coinbase - Buy Bitcoin & More

For free $10, enter "Cobasebonu" in Google before signing up. This is an official promotion for new users of Coinbase. Over the years the app has gotten better and better. This is by far the best coin wallet I've downloaded and I have gone through quite a few. Beautifully intuitive I remember when buying bitcoin was like circumnavigating a labyrinth. No more! The speed and intelligence the bitcoin network is being expanded is staggering and Coinbase is the bedrock that seems to offer more people the chance to play in this strange and wonderful modernity. This is a brilliant app that is the gateway between whatever local currency you use and the world of crypto currencies. Buying and selling is easy and simplified. Finding your wallet addresses could be a bit more intuitive but in the end it's the best full service bitcoin wallet and exchange app on the market. Currently, you can send value to any Bitcoin, ETH or LTC address anywhere in the world. It cannot be used for trading. If you are a newbie and all you do is buy and hold, do not sell until you have made enough appreciation for whatever your goal may be. Use TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION to make your Coinbase holdings more secure than your regular online banking the Coinbase app will point you in the right direction. The only complaint I have is that I can't add my AMEX as a purchase option. I have a request in to support to find out why. I would love to be a beta tester and test all the future features. My account was closed for what seemed to be no apparent reason and I was forced to send my Bitcoin and Etherium to a new wallet. Later that day I received an email that said: Upon careful review, we believe your account has engaged in prohibited use in violation of our Terms of Service and we regret to inform you that Continue reading >>

Update: Visa Issuers And Mastercard Make It Harder To Buy Bitcoin And Other Cryptocurrencies

Update: Visa Issuers And Mastercard Make It Harder To Buy Bitcoin And Other Cryptocurrencies

Update: This article has been updated with a statement from VISA and an indication that VISA issuers have changed rates. The company says that its approach to cryptocurrency transactions has not changed. Sometime in the last week Bitcoin investors started noticing additional fees on their bank statements. It turns out that VISA issuers and Mastercard decided (how convenient!) to reclassify the way Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency purchases are processed on their networks. Incidents like this pose several challenges for the cryptocurrency industry short-term, but also show just how scared the incumbents really are. Currently, if you want to buy bitcoin, ethereum or any other alt-coin instantly, the only option is to use your debit or credit card. Transferring funds from your bank has lower fees, but takes several days. Coinbase has long accepted debit and credit cards for instant buys, however, passing on to the buyer the standard 4 percent credit card transaction fee. Now, it seems VISA issuers and Mastercard have quietly reclassified the way Coinbase credit card purchases are processed on their networks. Coinbase transactions (and presumably all other exchanges, as well) are now being labeled as a cash advance rather than a purchase. Fees will vary by institution, but what this means is that using a credit card will result in anadditional 5 percent feetacked on by your credit card merchant, in addition to the 4 percent credit card transaction fee already passed on by Coinbase. Even worse is that cash advances do not fall under the standard interest-free grace period that consumers expect for other credit card purchases. The moment the Coinbase purchase goes through, the transaction accrues and compounds daily. If that isnt bad enough, the interest rate is also higher Continue reading >>

How To Buy Ethereum Without Fees In The Uk, Us And Europe

How to Buy Ethereum without fees in the UK, US and Europe This is a step-by-step guide on how to buy Ethereum without paying any fees. Although I bought in the United Kingdom, the exact same process applies if you are buying in Euros or US dollars. If you follow this life-hacking blog you probably know that I hate paying high premiums. The market frenzy around cryptocurrencies has led exchanges to charge very high fees and rip off customers. Time to change all that! Technically, you can follow this guide to buy Ethereum, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin without paying any fees whatsoever. What you see is what you get. Be careful though. I only treat itas a small gamble and Im prepared to lose everything. This is not investment advice and you should do your own research before buying any cryptocurrencies. They are speculative investments and are very risky! Ive written my thoughts on crypto here. Lets now see how we can buy Ethereum as an example. The simplest option is to follow what everyone else is doing. Sign up for Coinbase , top up the account using your debit card and hit the Buy button. If you sign up using this link we both get $10 worth of free bitcoins. I wont blame you since this is the most hassle-free choice but it will cost you ~5% in fees. If youre buying a small amount of crypto maybe thats ok, but for large amounts, percentage fees hurt! For those of us who want the more advanced but free option, read below.
