Bittrex Stops Creating New Ethereum Deposit Addresses Due To Network Congestion

Bittrex Stops Creating New Ethereum Deposit Addresses Due to Network Congestion Bittrex, the third largest cryptocurrency exchange in the global market behind Binance and Bithumb, has temporarily paused Ethereum deposits due to the current congestion on the Ethereum blockchain network. According to Etherscan, the Ethereum network is processing more than 1.2 million transactions on a daily basis, settling more payments than all of the cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks in the market combined, including bitcoin. The Ethereum network has to process more transactions than other blockchain networks because it operates as the base protocol for large-scale decentralized applications. Applications like CryptoKitties and EtherDelta, that have many active users requesting multiple transactions per day, are placing a heavy burden on the Ethereum network. While innocuous at a glance, the project has become a problem for the Ethereum ecosystem. The cryptokitties multiply, are bought, sold, rented for breeding, in other words, involved in myriads of transactions, taking up the largest volume of Ethereum traffic (20%). This causes many transactions that had previously taken seconds to currently be either delayed to 10 minutes, or fail entirely, explained the developers of Bankex that recently introduced the first practical implementation of Buterins second-layer solution Plasma. The congestion of the Ethereum network caused by the rising popularity and activity of decentralized applications can be resolved through second-layer scaling and solutions such as Plasma, Sharding, and Casper. But, as Augur co-founder Joey Krug noted, there are not enough developers working on the core protocol of Ethereum and consequently, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that fully scaling Continue reading >>

Destination Tag Gatehub

Destination Tag Gatehub

Destination tag is a 9-digit figure, unique toeach hosted wallet. It works as a wallet address. Note that Ripple wallets at GateHub do not have a destination tag. A destination tag is extra information with a Ripple transaction, just like a reference with bank transactions. It is usually requested from the sender by the funds receiver. It identifies the transaction, in case several transactions from several senders may be sent to the same receiving address. Some exchanges like Bitstamp require the users to include a destination tag, in addition to the receiving ripple address, when the user makes a deposit to the exchange. In this case the destination tag identifies the user within the receiving exchange. Other services don't require the destination tag, but instead provide unique Ripple addresses for each user. When users wish to withdraw funds such as XRP via the Ripple network, some services like GateHub and Poloniex provide the ability to enter the destination tag. This facilitates deposits to services where destination tag is required (like Bitstamp). Transferring XRP fromanother service (Poloniex, Bitstamp, ShapeShift ...) to GateHub When transferring XRP, just enter your Ripple address. Destination tag is not required; leave this field empty. TransferringXRP from GateHub to Poloniex Just enter your Poloniex ripple deposit address. No destination tag required. Transferring XRPfrom GateHub to Bitstamp Enter the Ripple address and destination tag provided by Bitstamp. Continue reading >>

Bittrex Halts Creation Of Ethereum Deposit Addresses Citing Congestion

Bittrex Halts Creation Of Ethereum Deposit Addresses Citing Congestion

Bittrex Halts Creation of Ethereum Deposit Addresses Citing Congestion The recent rise in the price of Ethereum has led to a large-scale congestion on the Ethereum network. Over 1.2 Million transactions are being processed on the Ethereum blockchain every day. To put things into perspective, this is more than all the other transactions on all other cryptocurrencies combined. This has prompted Bittrex to halt creation of new Ethereum deposit addresses for the time being. The Ethereum network has a high volume of network congestion because it is the base protocol upon which various other decentralized applications run. These apps have many active users performing multiple transactions daily thereby leading to the rise in the overall number of transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. Bittrex being the third largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world pausing creation of Ethereum deposit addresses means that there is going to be a significant impact on the number of transactions, easing some load off the network. Currently, the best way to lower the network congestion levels on the Ethereum blockchain is by the implementation of solutions such as Plasma, Casper and Sharding. Moreover, second-layer scaling techniques can also help. However, the biggest challenge here is that the number of developers working on the Ethereum blockchain arent enough. As per Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, fully scaling this blockchain might take up to five years! Bittrex has given the reason behind blocking Ethereum deposit addresses as the high transaction fees. The transaction fees has been on an ever-increasing rise over the past few weeks.Due to incredibly high gas prices, were preventing new ETH and asset deposit addresses from being created. Existing deposit addresses will work as Continue reading >>

Ethereum Outperforms Bitcoin!

Ethereum Outperforms Bitcoin!

Despite Bitcoin having a great end to the year, it has failed to stay about $16,500, and on Coinbase, one of the largest exchanges in the US is currently trading Bitcoin at $14,800. This has not been helped by the fact that Microsoft announced that they would stop accepting Bitcoin as a payment method. The coin that has been standing out over the past few days has undoubtedly been Ethereum, which was recently pushed out of the second position of the largest crypto by market capitalisation, following the surge of Ripple. Ethereum has a daily volume of around $7billion, which is double the average for the past month. It conquered $1,000 on 4th January, and has steadily climbed to $1,231. This has caused great congestion though, and transaction fees, which are known as gas continue to rise. This has led Bittrex to temporarily stop creating new wallet addresses for Ethereum deposits. A spokesperson for this exchange said; Due to incredibly high gas prices, were preventing new ETH and asset deposit addresses from being created. Existing deposit addresses will work as normal. Ethereum is not the only coin to be performing well. Dentacoin, a payment solution for the Dentistry sector was up nearly 300%, and KIN has performed very well jumping to 48th position and at one point, it reaches a market capital of $1billion, which is a massive leap from $50million in December this is an increase of a whopping 1,900%. This just goes to show that cryptocurrencies are really going nowhere quickly, and more and more people are investing in them. What this has on the future of traditional currency remains to be seen, but now is a great time to start investing in virtual currencies and this is simply proven by Ethereums leap ahead of Bitcoin. Cant Deposit Coins On Bittrex, Error Generating Address

Cant deposit coins on Bittrex, Error Generating Address For the past few weeks i try to resolve a problem with Bittrex but nothing seems to work. So I hope you guys can help me out. I would like to buy some Lunyr (LUN) and since the only platform trading this coin is Bittrex i opened up an account. I verified my passport (Dutch, also living in the Netherlands), address and everything else they asked for. But when i try to deposit coins (Wallets > +IconNextToCoin > NewAddress) i get the following error: There was an error generating your deposit address. Please try again. Error:ACCOUNT_NOT_VERIFIED It seems pretty straightforward right? Account not verified.. but as i go to Enhanced Verification it clearly states: Your application for an enhanced account has been approved. With a big thumps up next to it. But as i go back to (Basic verification > Basic Information) is states: We could not match your information to our public record providers. To complete the verification process, you must apply for an enhanced account. Which doesn't make sense, i already enhanced my account right? Seems like i'm in some sorta loophole.. So with this issue i tried to contact Bittrex customer service but they are of course crazy busy and don't respond. Bitfinex Hacked: Users Urged To Change Deposit Addresses

Bitfinex Hacked: Users Urged to Change Deposit Addresses Luke Parker , 23 May 2015 - Bitcoin , Hack , Bitfinex Bitfinex , the leading bitcoin exchange by volume in US dollars, reported earlier today on their blog that they have been hacked, and are asking all of their customers to cease using old deposit addresses while they are working on creating new wallets. We believe that our hot wallet keys might have been compromised. The announcement claims that the attack was only successful against the hot wallet portion of user's deposits, the short-term bitcoin wallet that actively uses funds at the time of trading. The company admits the hot wallets are theoretically vulnerable to attack. Bitfinex assured customers that over 99.5% of their deposits are secure, kept in multi-signature cold wallets. Bitfinex is a popular bitcoin exchange and full crypto-asset trading platform, based in Hong Kong. Owned and operated by iFinex Inc. (Bvi), and started in 2014, they were the first exchange to offer more exotic financial tools such as margin trading and swaps, giving many businesses a way to hedge their bitcoin positions. Today Bitfinex says that their website and trading engine are still in the beta stage, despite their position in the market. A few hours after the announcement displayed deposit addresses were updated on the company website, and Bitfinex continued to work towards normal operation. Withdrawals were suspended while their new wallet synced with third party services, but the company maintains that trading was not affected. Security has always been Bitfinex's top priority. While some commentators may look at this hack as an example of how far bitcoin has yet to come, before its is a safe and secure industry to invest in, others note that by keeping customer funds in Continue reading >>

How Long Do Cryptocurrency Deposits Take?

How Long Do Cryptocurrency Deposits Take?

How long do cryptocurrency deposits take? We have a requirement for a cryptocurrency deposit to receive a number of confirmations on its blockchain before the funds can be credited to your account. After a transaction is broadcasted to a Blockchain, it is presented to be included in a block by the miners. Once a transaction has been included in a block, the transaction has had 1 confirmation. With each subsequent block, the number of confirmations increases for the transaction. To avoid the risks of double spending, funds arent credited until a number of confirmations have taken place depending on the cryptocurrency. Each block is found at a different rate depending on the blockchain. For example, a block is found on average every 10 Minutes on the Bitcoin blockchain, and Kraken only credits XBT/BTC deposits to a clients account after 6 confirmations, which takes approximately one hour. Ethereum's High Fees Have Become An Issue For Applications And Exchanges | Btcmanager

Earlier this week, Bittrex, the fourth largest cryptocurrency exchange in the global market with a $2.7 billion daily trading volume, suspended the creation of Ethereum deposit addresses due to increasing fees and network congestion. Due to incredibly high gas prices, were preventing new ETH and asset deposit addresses from being created. Existing deposit addresses will work as normal, Bittrex wrote . According to Etherscan, the Ethereum network is currently processing more than 1.3 million transactions on a daily basis. It has a daily transaction volume that is larger that of all cryptocurrencies in the global market combined, including bitcoin. Although Ethereum is a scalable blockchain network with sufficient on-chain scaling and innovative second-layer scaling solutions such as Plasma and Sharding in development, it is struggling to handle the massive increase in demand for ether. For a blockchain network, a daily transaction volume of more than one million transactions is difficult to handle, given that such a volume is unprecedented. Bitcoin , the most valuable cryptocurrency in the market, is only processing just over 400,000 transactions per day, less than 40 percent of the Ethereum network. Structurally, Ethereum was developed to handle more transactions than Bitcoin, as it has to operate as the base protocol for large-scale and commercial decentralized applications. The rise of popularity in decentralized applications like CryptoKitties , EtherDelta, and 0x has led to a congestion of the Ethereum network. The developers of Bankex, who introduced the first practical implementation of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterins off-chain scaling solution Plasma, wrote in a blog post that decentralized applications that require many thousands of transactions to execute Continue reading >>

Bittrex Users Can No Longer Generate New Ethereum And Erc20 Token Deposit Addresses

Bittrex Users Can No Longer Generate New Ethereum And Erc20 Token Deposit Addresses

Bittrex Users can no Longer Generate new Ethereum and ERC20 Token Deposit Addresses Some interesting things are happening in the world of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. More specifically, the BItrex exchange has made another controversial decision. They no longer allow users to create new ETH and asset deposit addresses for the time being. Existing addresses are not affected by this decision. All of this is the direct result of incredibly high gas prices plaguing the Ethereum network. All major cryptocurrencies struggle with major network fees these days. Bitcoin has become far too expensive to spend, for most people. Although the costs are coming down a bit, theres still a two-digit fee attached to transactions. It now seems Ethereum has similar issues to contend with. The gas prices are going up, which doesnt bode well for ETH supporters. Moreover, it also causes issues for any assets issued on top of this blockchain as well. Bittrex Halts Ethereum Deposit Address Creation As a result, Bittrex has made another unpopular decision. The company claims users can no longer generate new deposit address. Existing addresses will remain operational for the time being. Anyone looking to deposit ETH or ERC20 tokens to Bittrex for the first time, will have to wait until things improve. This is not something most people will appreciate, for obvious reasons. It is unclear how long this situation will remain in place. Due to incredibly high gas prices, we're preventing new ETH and asset deposit addresses from being created. Existing deposit addresses will work as normal. Continue reading >>

Eth/eth Token Single Address

Eth/eth Token Single Address

Bittrex is always looking to provide the highest-quality customer experience. As part of that commitment, we are providing advanced notice that by February 16, 2018, Bittrex will transition Ethereum and all Ethereum tokens to a single contract address per account. Moving Ethereum tokens to a single contract address (single address) will allow customers to save money on network fees and help reduce user error. Additionally, this action will simplify and improve the overall performance of the Bittrex platform. A single address provides the following benefits: Reduces the network fees associated with deposits; Mitigates the risk of customers depositing Ethereum tokens to the wrong address; and Improves the overall user experience and performance of the Bittrex platform. What do I need to do if I have an existing Ethereum address? Before making any deposits verify your currently assigned address on the wallets tab. If that address is blank, youll need to generate a new one by clicking the New Address button. If you are using APIs, scripts, or otherwise making automated deposits, please dont assume previously-assigned addresses are still valid. You should always check your address before initiating a deposit. For more information read: Will any balances or tokens be impacted by the single address update? No user balances or tokens will be impacted by this update. What if I accidentally use my old Ethereum addresses after receiving my new, single address? Assets transferred to old token addresses will automatically be credited to your account until March 9, 2018. After this date, any assets transferred to the old addresses MAY NOT be credited to your account, requiring customers to open a support ticket. You may open a ticket by using this link: I am a new Ethereum user, do Continue reading >>

Warning: Issue With Eth Deposits : Bittrex

Warning: Issue With Eth Deposits : Bittrex

I want to warn everyone who's considering making a deposit in ETH to Bittrex - there is something wrong with the depositing system today. Today I've tried to deposit about 1 ETH to my Bittrex ETH wallet, making two transactions: Transaction 1 - 0.11 ETH, TxID 0x4827847cd0feafa4336e446382e47cc2c5a63c154f5eb6dde4da5d1e52b2c84e Transaction 2 - 0.98 ETH, TxID 0xcdbdc7af34bb4b497db1b1ea53f946bd5c0ff8a9e6759eabb3f2e40d1d6e4e87 As for now, Transaction #1 is visible in Pending deposits with 0/36 confirmations, which is not true, because while I'm typing the message the confirmations number is 570. Also, in Bittrex interface this transaction has absolutely incorrect and non-existent TxID assigned - 0x75d20f8598d94b5bd3d0bbb1a35ca66cbbdf4c406a46928cf6ca2571583cfbf9. This transaction does not even exist in the Blockchain. Like at all... Transaction #2 is not even visible in Pending Deposits section, it is simply not there. There is a support ticket opened, Request #601563. I hope it is a bug and is going to be resolved soon, but I decided to warn people, as ETH is quite popular coin and I don't believe I am the only one who decided to deposit today on Bittrex using ETH. Both transaction went through and now my Bittrex wallet has correct balance. Just to let you know - both transactions have totally different TxID and "From" address, actually it is address of Bittrex itself, so I guess they perform manual funds distribution trying to recover failed wallet software. So, good news, guys, looks like they are on the right track and all pending deposits will be recovered soon! Continue reading >>
