Ripple For Beginners: A Step-by-step Guide To Xrp | Finder.com

The fast money transfer network, Ripple, and its associated coin, XRP, have been enjoying steady acceptance and growth over the five years since their inception. Heres why. When talking about Ripple (XRP), people often overlook the product that caused it to exist: the Ripple Network. Unfortunately, even though its been accepted by several banks as a legitimate money transfer system, the platform is a bit more complex to figure out than your regular cryptocurrency. So were going to go through it and explain every piece along the way. The goal of Ripple is to be a global settlement network, a platform to allow anyone to transfer money in any currency to any currency in a matter of seconds. This is an ambitious goal meant to eliminate the use of older systems like Western Union or SWIFT. Consider this scenario: Alice and Bob need to send some money to each other. Alice uses Jamaican dollars (JMD) to conduct her business, while Bob operates in Bangladeshi taka (BDT). While it might not be evident to end users, the process behind Alice sending Bob money involves converting the JMD to a common currency like USD, then transferring the money between Alices bank and Bobs. Finally, the USD in Bobs bank is converted back to BDT. This incurs a lot of fees at every exchange and wastes a lot of time. The Ripple network and currency aim to fix this problem. The alternative Ripple proposes is the use of XRP as a common currency underlying all money transfers between different currencies (USD is currently the most common currency). Not only are transaction fees much lower to convert from one currency to XRP and back, but transfers take a maximum of 4 seconds to execute and verify. Quite a few global banks have already started embracing Ripple as it saves them a lot of money in the long Continue reading >>

A wallet is a digital place for your coins to be stored. Each coin has a certain wallet provider. That could be official GUI-wallets, web wallets and other applications. The wallet address represents a randomly generated combination of digits and letters. CoinSwitch doesnt provide wallet addresses and never stores user deposits. To exchange cryptocurrencies, you need to have a wallet address. Just figure out, what coin do you want to buy and seek for a stable wallet version. As a rule, each coin has its official wallet client. Note that each wallet has its unique address or a tag with a private key that is required to restore your wallet if lost. CoinSwitch never asks your private keys. Store them in a safe place and never show anyone. Once private keys are stolen, your wallet with all the coins will be lost forever. In each transaction, there is always a sender and a recipient. The recipients address is the wallet address to receive the money you want to buy. For example, if you want to buy Ethereum (ETH), in the field, you should specify the ETH wallet address. In general, the recipients wallet address is the address we send coins bought, once a transaction is finished. A hash (or the tx/transaction ID) is a unique address of your transaction in a blockchain. Mostly, the hash is a combination of digits and lower case (upper in Ripple) letters that represents a proof that money is sent. Whenever you make a payment, you receive a hash displayed in your wallet. Hash should be located in a blockchain. Our support team may ask you to provide a hash. Sometimes its required to find your payment and resolve your issues if any. CoinSwitch doesnt have amount restrictions. However, there are some nuances. If an amount is too low, make sure that it will cover all the network fee Continue reading >>

Shapeshift Adds Instant Conversion Of Ripple

Shapeshift Adds Instant Conversion Of Ripple

ShapeShift Adds Instant Conversion of Ripple Ripple has been added to ShapeShift, allowing XRP to be instantly converted to or from most of the currencies available on ShapeShift. After some early issues, it seems to be running smoothly. ShapeShift has added Ripple support and allows for the nearly instantaneous transfer between cryptocurrencies. Ripple is currently the second largest cryptocurrency if you consider pure market cap numbers. ShapeShift works by allowing users to send any supported cryptocurrency to a ShapeShift addressand have a converted amount of any other supported currency to any address the user chooses. The advantages of using ShapeShift.io over a traditional exchange are that you don't have to make an account and any supported cryptocurrency can be converted and sent to a merchant that accepts bitcoin (or any other supported cryptocurrency). Ripple is a big addition, because it is fairly popular despite having a completely different base than Bitcoin. Unlike most cryptocurrencies (but not all, NXT is another example) Ripple was built from the ground up and doesn't use the Bitcoin source code. This gives it certain advantages over Bitcoin, but also has its drawbacks. One notable drawback is that it is less compatible with systems already designed for Bitcoin and similar cryptocurrencies. While integrating a coin that is based on Bitcoin into a Bitcoin API will often only require a few minor changes to the code, Ripple API and integration generally has to be built from the ground up. Of course, Ripple is designed to do different things and those things weren't possible on the Bitcoin network when Ripple was launched (or re-launched). So it is a trade off in that way. There are other concerns and advantages of Ripple, but they have been debated ad na Continue reading >>

If you use Coinbase you can buy Ripple (XRP) on yourPhone Using Evercoin, Coinbase users can get Ripple XRP following these simplesteps The vast majority of cryptocurrency users get their start on Coinbase. As a first move, they often buy Bitcoin. Then they diversify into Ether and Litecoin, largely because those are the only two other coins available on Coinbase. The next cryptocurrency they often want to buy is Ripple. Because of this, they need to start using services other than Coinbase. This is where Evercoin comes in. We are posting this because we have a lot of folks in this boat and we want to help them with their first steps into the wider cryptocurrency world outside of Coinbase. Here are the steps (make sure to watch the video at the end): 1. Buy some Bitcoin, Ether or Litecoin onCoinbase If you havent bought any of these coins, you can easily do so on by following the instructions below: Toast Wallet Android Apps on Google Play 3. Setting up your Ripple order onEvercoin Once you have a Ripple wallet, you can buy Ripple with other coins such as Bitcoin or Ether. Say you want to buy Ripple with Litecoin. Buying Ripple Xrp With Bitcoin Btc

Buying Ripple Xrp With Bitcoin Btc

I have Bitcoin in my Coinbase wallet. I want to buy Ripple on another exchange since Coinbase does not trade Ripple. Do I copy and paste my Bitcoin alphanumeric key code from Coinbase to the other exchange?orDo I hand write the Coinbase Bitcoin alphanumeric key code in the address window in the other exchange that trades Ripple in order to deposit my Coinbase Bitcoin into the other exchange so I can buy Ripple with Bitcoin? You go through their menus to deposit bitcoins. They give you an address to send bitcoins to. You withdraw from Coinbase to that deposit address. You now have a bitcoin balance on that exchange that you can trade. I would suggest this, but you also have to have a Ripple wallet to store your bitcoins. Sorry I don't know much else about Ripple or a good wallet. Chloe May 16 '17 at 19:13 For GateHub, I had to ask them to deposit 20 XRP into my account so I can begin trading in XRP. This is on top of buying BTC, LTC, or ETH first on CoinBase and then sending to GateHub exchange address for that specific altcoin. I set up a wallet for XRP on CRYPTONATOR, then used Changelly, which allows you to move your BTC or LTC or ETH from Coinbase into the XRP wallet. But first I think you need to move some ETH or BTC into a CRYPTONATOR wallet and use that to open the XRP wallet because you need to deposit at least 20 XRP to start the XRP wallet. Then you can use the XRP wallet id from CRYPTONATOR to set up a transfer id from Changelly (ie BTC to XRP then it asks your XRP wallet destination and gives you a transaction code). It's kind of a hassle, but it worked. Continue reading >>
