Why Would I Invest Longterm? : Bitcoin

Why Would I Invest Longterm? : Bitcoin

Don't get me wrong I reaaalllly want to, and I beleave in cryptocurrency in a long term, but regarding "HODLING" now these reasons keep me from investing. If this subreddit can give a sound counterarguments, I just may invest. (I) I can't see a way for bitcoin to have a smooth transition to be a wildly accepted currency. People talk about growth (wallstreet and overall). What makes bitcoin to bounce back from a correction so fast is the people like this subreddit, who truly beleave in bitcoin. Because at the moment a big% of investors are innovators who truly beleave in bitcoin, it means that bitcoin will always bounce back. What happens when true belivers become the small minority? I beleive this is when a bubble can form and a correction can cause a spiral to make it drop to 2k-5k. Then its years again for it to rise over 15k for example. My reasoning here is that the majority of investors at this point are the people looking to make a buck and they do not truly beleive in bitcoin. (II) The price for bitcoin is speculative atm. You really cant buy anything for bitcoin because of the volatility and transaction times and fees. When less educated investors who doesn't exactly see a future for bitcoin invest because its continues rise, that's when a bubble can form again and setback the price for a long time. (Im not talking about the doom of bitcoin, only that it will be setback on the price front to lower numbers like 2-5k which makes investing now to it pointless) (III) Damn wallstreet and the pontential manipulation. Is this truly good for bitcoin? (IIII) Bitcoin has inferior tech and it keeps its value because of its market share. What happens when alt coins start to pickup and eat market share from bitcoin? I see this as a opportunity for cryptocurrency to really t Continue reading >>

Bitcoin Private Was Always A Mid To Long-term Investment Play : Bitcoinprivate

Coming to this subreddit can be disheartening at times due to the sheer lack of knowledge displayed by some posts. They call crypto the Wild West for a reason - if you do not do your research, you get killed out here i.e. lose your money. So even if you had done just a bit of research on how the Bitcoin Private fork worked you would have known expecting BTCP to reach the all-time high of ZCL post fork would be a ridiculous proposition. The circulating supply of the coins on the Bitcoin blockchain were added to the circulating supply of the coins on the Zclassic blockchain to produce Bitcoin Private, which resulted in the circulating supply of coins on the Bitcoin Private blockchain to inflate drastically. According to CoinMarketCap data, there are currently 20,311,925 BTCP circulating. The all-time high price of ZCL was ~ $235. Multiplying these values together gives Bitcoin Private a market cap of ~$4.8 billion, which I believe is completely overvalued considering there has not been enough exchange support and hardware wallet support (as of yet). I have been a relatively close follower of the Bitcoin Private project for the past 3 months and have been impressed with the savvy idea of trying to bring mass adoption of privacy to the blockchain via the Bitcoin fork methodology; the same way Bitcoin Cash did to try and bring cheap and fast transactions, the same way Bitcoin Gold did to try and make mining more decentralised and we saw how both coins performed since their fork dates (well!). It just takes time. If patience is not learned when investing in cryptoassets, the rewards will not be reaped. I have spent the last 5 weeks writing a "Fundamental Report" on Bitcoin Private giving a brief but comprehensive outlook on the project, from the privacy tech behind it to pot Continue reading >>

Reddit Stops Accepting Bitcoin

Reddit Stops Accepting Bitcoin

South Korea Exchanges Move to Mainstream Cryptocurrency Use The bad news just keeps piling up for bitcoin. Reddit, which was among the biggest platforms to allow bitcoin payments, has stopped accepting the cryptocurrency on its platform. According to news reports, users of the site can no longer use bitcoin to upgrade to Reddit Gold, a feature that enables them to block ads and highlight their comments. Payments using bitcoin on Reddit are made using San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase s wallet. (See also: How RedditMakes Money ). A moderator on the site said they might enable bitcoin payments again if there is demand and based on progress of Coinbase Commerce, a service launched by North Americas largest cryptocurrency exchange to enable merchants to accept bitcoin. The moderator also said theyd observed bugs for payments made using bitcoin. Reddit is the latest among large online platforms to shut its doors on cryptocurrencies. Facebook Inc. ( FB ), Twitter Inc. ( TWTR) , and Alphabet Inc. subsidiary Google ( GOOG ) have already banned ads related to cryptocurrency. This bit of news comes amidst a regulatory crackdown and a downward spiral in cryptocurrency prices. How Does Reddits Decision Affect Bitcoin? Reddit began accepting bitcoin back in 2013 to diversify payment options on the site. However, it has not revealed usage statistics for bitcoin payments on its site. At the time of the 2013 announcement, Coinbase had hoped that Reddits decision would kickstart mainstream adoption of bitcoin. While bitcoin has exploded in value since those days, mainstream adoption of the cryptocurrency remains a pipe dream. For starters, bitcoins transaction fees shot up last year on the back of a burst in trading volumes. The fees became high enough to make the or Continue reading >>

Reddit Hopes To Relaunch Cryptocurrency Payments - And Not Just Bitcoin, Either

Reddit hopes to relaunch cryptocurrency payments - and not just Bitcoin, either Ethereum and Litecoin may also be added to the payment roster in the future. Reddit is hoping to reinstate cryptocurrency as an option for payment in the near future. Samsung Galaxy S9 review: Not perfect, but still a stellar phone Following the removal of Bitcoin as a payment option for Reddit Gold, in an interview with Cheddar on Thursday, Reddit chief technology officer (CTO) Chris Slowe indicated that this may not be permanent. Bitcoin was removed from the platform in March. The reason for removal of virtual coins as a payment option was placed at the feet of Coinbase, which discontinued its Merchant Tool product in favor of Coinbase Commerce , a new platform aimed at supporting multiple cryptocurrencies. "The upcoming Coinbase change, combined with some bugs around the Bitcoin payment option that were affecting purchases for certain users, led us to remove Bitcoin as a payment option," said Reddit administrator emoney04 at the time. In the interview, Slowe said Bitcoin is likely to return as a payment method and other cryptocurrencies may be in the works, too. However, reinstating cryptocurrency will have to wait until Coinbase -- the firm's major payment processing platform -- has finished a redesign of their payment services. "They're doing a great job, a major revitalization of their payment gateway, we just didn't have the time to upgrade our current API integration," Slowe said. "Once the current redesign finishes landing and we are able to address it again, I think we'll see cryptocurrency payments come back." Slowe said that the previous set of tools provided by Coinbase only supported Bitcoin payments on Reddit, but a fix to pave the way for alternative cryptocurrency payments Continue reading >>
