The Top 25 Cryptocurrency Influencers To Follow 2018

After the 1929 stock market crash, new regulations brought infrastructure that helped formthe insular culture of Wall Streets traders and analysts. The creation of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ultimately meant thatonly a small percentage of people would qualify as accredited investors.Success within moneys inner circle bred a culture of trade secrets and information asymmetry. Analysts and traders worked their edges and guarded their insight. Information moved within closed circuits of buy-side and sell-side analysts whose work informed limited numbers of investors and traders. In contrast, the culture around cryptocurrencies looks much different. Cryptocurrency analysts and traders have taken to social media and other platforms to publicly share their insights and advice on industry trends, popular tokens, price predictions and high reward trades. Twitter is one of the most impactful forums, while CoinDesk, Reddit, Medium & Steem blog posts offer longer-form analysis and insight from around the world. Inspired by the shift in culture from cloistered Wall Street to the more open and transparent influencers in the crypto space, CryptoClarified has establishedthe following Top 5 Analysts and Top 5 Token Traders lists. With the final 10 selected from a total of over 30 candidates, factors for consideration includedTwitter followers, analyses published, charts produced, industry experience, incumbent financial industry experience (with bonus points for having both), votes from the State of Blockchain Q3 sentiment survey, and several other data points. Bitcoin Price Could Hit $50,000 This Year, Experts Say

"One possible appetizer for the bulls, or the catalyst for the recovery, will be the release of another cryptocurrency backed instrument listed on a major exchange. There are several candidates in the pipeline, it's only a matter of time until we have a cryptocurrency backed ETF (exchange-traded fund)." Last year, the CME and CBOE both released bitcoin futures products that people could trade. And Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman told CNBC in a recent interview that the exchange was "continuing to investigate" cryptocurrency futures. There is still not a bitcoin ETF or exchange-traded fund on the market. An ETF tracks the price of an asset and would allow people to trade bitcoin without having to buy the digital currency on an exchange. Noted cryptocurrency investors Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the brothers who founded the Gemini Trust digital currency exchange, had an ETF application rejected last year . The recent cryptocurrency sell-off came after huge price rises for many coins last year. Bitcoin was up nearly 1,300 percent, while ethereum rose over 8,000 percent and ripple surged over 32,000 percent. Even though the price rises were massive, some experts think that this year could be even bigger. "We believe after February the market will likely go on a bull run comparative if not greater than last year potentially reaching the trillion-dollar mark before a proper crypto winter sets in where the market becomes more focused on proper market fundamentals," Jamie Burke, CEO at Outlier Ventures, a venture capital firm that focuses on blockchain investments, told CNBC by email on Tuesday. Many commentators have noted that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have no fundamental value . But others have suggested that digital tokens like ethereum, which can be used to build new Continue reading >>

Bitcoin: What Have Experts Said About The Cryptocurrency?

Bitcoin: what have experts said about the cryptocurrency? The most memorable comments on the cryptocurrency from senior figures in world finance First published on Thu 8 Feb 2018 08.23EST Bitcoin has been described as a bubble, a Ponzi scheme and an environmental disaster.Photograph: Chesnot/Getty Images Bitcoins gyrations have attracted a lot of attention over the past year. Here are some of the most memorable comments from senior figures in world finance. Yves Mersch, a member of the European Central Banks executive board, called for a global clampdown on virtual currencies because of their threat to financial stability on 8 February. Bitcoin transactions can easily take several hours to process, he noted in a speech in London . At these speeds, if you bought a bunch of tulips with bitcoin they may well have wilted by the time the transaction was confirmed. The new head of the Bank for International Settlements has described bitcoin as a bubble, a Ponzi scheme and an environmental disaster. If authorities do not act pre-emptively, cryptocurrencies could become more interconnected with the main financial system and become a threat to financial stability, he said in a speech on 6 February. The American economist credited with predicting the 2008 financial crash has called bitcoin the mother of all bubbles and much worse than tulip mania. He told Bloomberg TV on 2 February: Its on the way down to zero. The fundamental value of bitcoin is zero. He said the other 1,300-plus cryptocurrencies were even worse and slammed the underlying blockchain technology. He added that blockchain has been around for 10 years and its only application is bitcoin or cryptocurrencies and they are a scam. Roubini tweeted this week: Cryptocrazies are also criminal Cyber-Terrorists. He also clai Continue reading >>

Crypto Experts Predict 2018 Bull Run: Bitcoin To $50k, Overall Market Cap To $1 Trln

Crypto Experts Predict 2018 Bull Run: Bitcoin To $50k, Overall Market Cap To $1 Trln After a few days of the market dipping and then recovering today, several crypto experts gave favorable predictions about Bitcoin and the overall market to CNBC. Following a volatile few days in the crypto markets this week, with Bitcoin (BTC) dipping below $7000 for the first time since November, 2017, several crypto experts have predicted an overall bull run. Experts told CNBC today, Feb. 7, that the total market cap of all cryptocurrencies could reach $1 trillion and that BTC itself could hit $50,000 by the end of this year. Jamie Burke , CEO at Outlier Ventures , Europes first Blockchain -based incubator, told CNBC that the predicted bull run will be followed by a general settling down of the market: "We believe after February the market will likely go on a bull run comparative if not greater than last year potentially reaching the trillion-dollar mark before a proper crypto winter sets in where the market becomes more focused on proper market fundamentals. Thomas Glucksmann, head of APAC business at Gatecoin , sees regulation, the introduction of institutional capital, and technological advances like the Lightning Network as the main factors in rising cryptocurrency prices. He told CNBC over email: "There is no reason why we couldn't see bitcoin pushing $50,000 by December." Back in April 2017 when BTC reached a former high of $1,300 , Glucksmann had commented on the connection between the price jump and the start of the US Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) month-long review of the Winklevoss twins Bitcoin ETF proposal. The joint SEC and The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) hearings held yesterday, Feb. 6, on their roles in the cryptocurrency sphere may have hel Continue reading >>

Expert Interview With Bobby Ong On Cryptocurrency

Expert Interview With Bobby Ong On Cryptocurrency

Expert Interview with Bobby Ong on Cryptocurrency If you want to know about cryptocurrency, it's best to chat with someone like Bobby Ong, whose interest in trading it online for a profit inspired him and his partner TM Lee to create CoinGecko , a website that ranks different forms of altcoins. We recently checked in with Bobby to learn some altcoin basics and get his predictions for the future of cryptocurrency. Here's what he had to say: I will first briefly explain what is Bitcoin and then extend the concept further to cover cryptocurrencies in general. Bitcoin is a form of digital currency that uses cryptography to manage the security of each transaction and to control the creation of new units. There is no central bank managing the monetary supply of the currency, but its monetary rules instead have already been coded into the network by its anonymous founder(s), Satoshi Nakomoto. The integrity of the network is then maintained by a network of decentralized miners who solve cryptographic problems. Cryptocurrency is a form of digital currency, as it uses cryptography in maintaining the integrity of the network. Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency. Many other cryptocurrencies have since been created, some based on Bitcoin's source code and others being coded from scratch. These alternative cryptocurrencies are also known as altcoins. Who uses cryptocurrency? Where can it be used? At this point in time, cryptocurrencies are used by a group of tech-savvy individuals who value privacy, especially in light of recent massive data breaches like Target's credit card information breach . Bitcoin can be used to purchase many items, with Coinbase and Bitpay providing merchant processing services. Nearly 90,000 businesses are using Coinbase or Bitpay to accept Bi Continue reading >>

Experts: Each Bitcoin Could Be Worth $60,000 By December 2018

Experts: Each Bitcoin Could be Worth $60,000 by December 2018 If its price hikes are any indication, 2017 has arguably been a successful year for Bitcoin. Just how much higher could this cryptocurrency go? Futurism reached out to experts to find out: Is Bitcoin a bubble, or is it here to stay? Theres no doubt about it: Bitcoin has proven itself to be the most resilient cryptocurrency around, overcoming a number of hurdles, including hard forks, in 2017. The currency hit a new record price of $19,796 per coin on December 17, before falling to its current price of $13,164 per coin (at the time of writing). Naturally, the record year has observers rife with speculation about the future of Bitcoin. Experts predict that, a year from now, the price of bitcoin could grow more than triple its record value. Bitcoin can reach $60,000 by [December] 2018, Marvin Dumont, a senior editor for Bitcoin.com , told Futurism. Medicalchain COO Mohammed Tayeb shared a similar prediction. Bitcoin could reach $50,000 by this time next year, if not more, he told Futurism.I think all of us are less and less surprised by the headlines that are coming out nearly monthly about the breakthrough Bitcoin is making and it should come as no surprise when it does reach $50,000. Bitcoins meteoric price hike has already gone beyond what some experts have previously predicted . Just a few months ago, one estimated that it could hit a now-modest-seeming $6,000 before the year ends, while another said Bitcoin would reach $10,000 by April 2018. Jeremy Epstein , the CEO of Blockchain startups marketing firm Never Stop Marketing , believes that the price of Bitcoin could go up to $18,000 before the end of 2017. Like anyone, Ive been mega-surprised by how quickly Bitcoin has hit the mainstream, he told Futurism. Continue reading >>
