Phore Blockchain Proof Of Stake Crypto Digital Currency

Phore Blockchain Proof Of Stake Crypto Digital Currency

To accommodate new features and accelerate the Phore vision, the existing code This was accomplished with a coin swap from KryptKoin to the new Phore. The initial Phore code base was created from a fork of the PIVX project, which in turn was forked from Dash, all of which have roots going back to Bitcoin Core code. Well over half of the existing KTK was swapped for Phore coins through this process. This window closed on November 18th, 2017, and as a result of unclaimed coins, over 7 million Phore (PHR) were destroyed, reducing the total supply to just over 11 million Phore. Anyone with 10,000 Phore can set up and operate a Phore Masternode, which is online 24/7 and helps provide additional security, reliability, and performance to the Phore blockchain. Given their large stake in Phore, Masternode owners have an even larger incentive to maintain the integrity and security of the Phore blockchain, and to help guide the growth and value of Phore over time. The Phore marketing team will launch a new and improved website which meets the high standard of the ambitious Phore vision. To make Phore more accessible and easier to use, two new wallets will be introduced: The Android Wallet will be available from the Google store and provide a secure and speedy mobile connection with the Phore blockchain. The Web Wallet will provide a platform for online hosted Phore wallets, which will allow a more convenient option for people to store Phore without having to run a dull Phore wallet on a laptop or mobile device. We are planning to build 2FA security into the web wallet platform as well. The Phore core development team will be continually maintaining and updating Phores code to ensure that the currency and wallets are safe and secure. This will continue troughout 2018. During Q1 we Continue reading >>

Sec Warning And Hack Rumors Precede Bitcoin Drop

Sec Warning And Hack Rumors Precede Bitcoin Drop

Bitcoin is having a moment just not the kind its boosters hoped for. The cryptocurrency once again dropped below $10,000 today, and the timing of the latest dip has some faithful hodlers concerned. Specifically, the apparent sell-off came shortly on the heels of a Securities and Exchange Commission announcement warning about "potentially unlawful online platforms for trading digital assets." Oh, and the rumors of a major cryptocurrency exchange getting hacked didn't help things either. SEE ALSO: Berlin blockchain conference proves that dumb stock art is actually genius But first, the SEC. While it's impossible to say if the statement contributed to the price dip, it's not the most out-there conclusion to draw. After all, the SEC threw direct shade at the very exchanges people use to buy and sell their cryptocurrency. "[Many] of these platforms give the impression that they perform exchange-like functions by offering order books with updated bid and ask pricing and data about executions on the system," noted the SEC, "but there is no reason to believe that such information has the same integrity as that provided by national securities exchanges." In other words, the exchanges could very well be putting out bullshit in place of market data a possibility frightening enough to stop even the most bullish investor in his or her tracks. At the same time, users of the exchange Binance are taking to Reddit to complain that their altcoins were mysteriously sold en masse for bitcoin without their authorization. "WTF is happening," asked one such user . "Binance just sold all my alts at market rate and I have got just the Bitcoin now." "Yea all alt sold in a single minute n btc bought [VIA] at super premium," replied another redditor . My @binance_2017 account just sold my entire Continue reading >>

U.k. Fintech Sector Strategy Announces Crypto Asset Task Force

U.k. Fintech Sector Strategy Announces Crypto Asset Task Force

U.K. Fintech Sector Strategy Announces Crypto Asset Task Force U.K. Fintech Sector Strategy Announces Crypto Asset Task Force Today, March 22, 2018, at the governments second International Fintech Conference, Exchequer Chancellor Philip Hammond announced the launch of a Fintech Sector Strategy that looks to keep the U.K. on the forefront of the industry. The primary component of this new strategy will be the introduction of a Crypto Assets Task Force composed of representatives from the Bank of England (BOE), HM Treasury and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The purpose of this team will be twofold: promote the U.K.s position as a leader in the emerging world of digital currency, while concurrently establishing the infrastructure needed to monitor the potential risks associated with the crypto space. This development follows a recent shift in the British governments public attitude toward cryptocurrency. In January 2018, at the World Economic Forum, Prime Minister Theresa May voiced her apprehensions toward virtual currency and suggested that stronger regulations should be considered very seriously a sentiment that was echoed earlier this month by BOE governor Mark Carney who, in an interview with CNBC , decried the speculative mania that surrounds crypto assets. His rhetoric, and that of the British government, has since changed. On March 18, preceding the G20 summit, Carney released an official letter through the Financial Stability Board (FSB) that dramatically reasserted his position. It stated that at its current size crypto assets do not pose risks to global financial stability and that their underlying technologies have the potential to improve the efficiency and inclusiveness of both the financial system and the economy. He did admit, however, that due to Continue reading >>

Think Cryptocurrency Is Confusing? Try Paying Taxes On It

Technology |Think Cryptocurrency Is Confusing? Try Paying Taxes on It The room was full of stressed-out cryptocurrency traders. And for once, they werent nervous about the price of Bitcoin, or the roller coaster swings of the virtual currency markets. No, the subject of this gloomy affair was taxes. Specifically, how and whether to pay them. With this years April 17 tax filing deadline fast approaching, many virtual currency traders are sweating over their tax returns. Theyre confused by the complicated rules, many of them stemming from guidelines issued by the I.R.S. in 2014, governing the taxation of virtual currencies. Theyre afraid that the windfall profits created by last years cryptocurrency boom, which sent currencies like Bitcoin and Ether skyrocketing and created a new class of crypto-millionaires, have left them with huge tax bills. And, of course, theyre worried about drawing the eye of the Internal Revenue Service. Ive lost sleep over it, said Shaun, a trader who said he was still figuring out how to properly account for last years cryptocurrency profits on his taxes. Shaun, who asked that his last name not be used because he has been audited in the past, said he was scared that increased scrutiny of the cryptocurrency market could lead the I.R.S. to pay special attention to cases like his. I dont want to be made an example of, he said. This gathering, which took place last week in Manhattan and was organized by Blockmatics, a research and education company, featured three accountants who specialize in cryptocurrency tax preparation. For an hour, the audience peppered them with tax-prep questions that ranged from common (Do I have to pay taxes on Bitcoin if I havent sold yet?) to esoteric (If my Bitcoin wallet got hacked and all my coins got stolen, can I d Continue reading >>

At This Crypto Event, the Attendees Really Were High The menu for the Crypto Sanctum conference noted that several items were "infused." On Thursday afternoon, an employee of fintech company Cindicator stopped by a conference called Crypto Sanctum held at Beneville Studios in New Yorks Flatiron neighborhood. Organized by a group called The Decentralists and a crypto project called IOVO, the Crypto Sanctum promised to connect people with right opportunities in the fast moving crypto and blockchain space. Tickets cost $500. At the event the Cindicator employee ate lunch, which included sushi and tea, and chatted with a few attendees before leaving for a nearby meeting with her boss. An hour into that meeting, she could barely speak. She noticed the room was spinning and it was a struggle to stand up. I realized I was totally wasted, she said. At first she thought it was sleep deprivationshe hadnt had a good nights sleepbut that had never given her the spins like this. She told her boss she couldnt work anymore because she felt stoned and didnt know how, which she says was embarrassing to admit. The Cindicator employee remembers walking home, but doesnt remember the route she took. In subsequent days, several of the events 200 attendees discussed similar experiences on Telegram, the crypto worlds preferred messaging service. One attendee said he thought hed gotten food poisoning. Another said shed experienced panic attacks. A third reported he had heard the food was infused with marijuana but felt the dosage was certainly heavy. The Crypto Sanctums menu , viewed by WIRED, subtly noted Continue reading >>

Cryptocurrency: Token Airdrop Makes It Rain $1m Crypto Coins | Fortune

Cryptocurrency: Token Airdrop Makes It Rain $1m Crypto Coins | Fortune

Jen Wieczner (@jenwieczner) March 20, 2018 Its believed to be the first time anyone has introduced a brand new cryptocurrency via physical distribution (though in actuality, Mainframes tokens were to be exchanged for codes, which could then be redeemed online for virtual MFT coins). Mainframe initially sold its tokens in a private pre-sale exclusively for accredited investors (several of whom witnessed the airdrop), raising 27,000 of Ethereum cryptocurrency thats currently worth some $15 million. The capital will fund Mainframes development of a messaging service that is not only encrypted, but masks the trajectory of messages using dark routing, in order to be censorship-resistant and surveillance-resistant. Such technology, the company argues, will better preserve users freedom. But while Mainframe had originally considered holding an ICO, it felt it unwise given the regulatory environment. SEC chairman Jay Clayton said in November that he had yet to see an ICO that doesnt have a sufficient number of hallmarks of a security, and testified in a Senate hearing last month that he believed ICOs were in violation of the law. In a separate hearing on ICOs in Congress last week, Mike Lempres, chief legal and risk officer for cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, said the company does not trade ICO tokens because it cannot take the risk of inadvertently trading an asset that is later found to be a security. Its unclear if Mainframes literal air drop would pass legal muster in the United States, or if regulators in other countries will agree the gimmick does not violate securities laws. Whereas the SEC has mostly been concerned with protecting investors from financial harm, Mainframe also wanted to make sure its token recipients would be safe from physical injury. There were a lo Continue reading >>

The worlds economic leaders have set a July deadline for the first step toward unified regulation of cryptocurrency. However, not everyone is onboard as Brazil Central Bank president Ilan Goldfajn has reportedly said that cryptocurrencies will not be regulated in his country and that they would not necessarily be following the regulations outlined by the G20, on cryptocurrencies or other issues. According to an article in Time Magazine, Russia secretly helped Venezuela launching their government-backed cryptocurrency Petro. Amidst dwindling volumes, there comes a study that claims volumes on most major cryptocurrency exchanges are fake or inflated. In addition, another study claims that 76% of this years ICOs are trading at a price lower than the initial offering price. In-line with a worldwide surge in regulatory interest in the cryptocurrency space, Maryland, which generally stayed out of the cryptocurrency regulation discussion, reportedly is drafting an ICO regulation, such as Bermuda. The Russia Federation is also coming closer deciding on a law covering initial coin offerings (ICO) and the trading of crypto tokens within the country.
