Yes, its driven by greed but the mania for cryptocurrency could wind up building something much more important than wealth. layer innocent nothing argue pottery winner cotton menu task slim merge maid The sequence of words is meaningless: a random array strung together by an algorithm let loose in an English dictionary. What makes them valuable is that theyve been generated exclusively for me, by a software tool called MetaMask. In the lingo of cryptography, theyre known as my seed phrase. They might read like an incoherent stream of consciousness, but these words can be transformed into a key that unlocks a digital bank account, or even an online identity. It just takes a few more steps. On the screen, Im instructed to keep my seed phrase secure: Write it down, or keep it in a secure place on your computer. I scribble the 12 words onto a notepad, click a button and my seed phrase is transformed into a string of 64 seemingly patternless characters: 1b0be2162cedb2744d016943bb14e71de6af95a63af3790d6b41b1e719dc5c66 This is whats called a private key in the world of cryptography: a way of proving identity, in the same, limited way that real-world keys attest to your identity when you unlock your front door. My seed phrase will generate that exact sequence of characters every time, but theres no known way to reverse-engineer the original phrase from the key, which is why it is so important to keep the seed phrase in a safe location. That private key number is then run through two additional transformations, creating a new string: 0x6c2ecd6388c550e8d99ada34a1cd55bedd052ad9 That string is my address on the Ethereum blockchain. Seeking Crypto Transparency

Seeking Crypto Transparency

The concepts and realities of digital currencies are, at best, confusing. To understand more about the Lebanese cryptocurrency community, and the opportunities that the cryptocurrency economy opens for Lebanese business and banksincluding the idea of a sovereign digital currency issued by Banque du Liban, Lebanons central bankExecutive sat down with Stphane Abichaker. A locally well known advocate for adopting of digital currency, Abichaker is a lecturer at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, a blogger on bitcoin, and partner at CDC Blockchain, a startup launched in November 2017 that works on electronic currency solutions. E When did you first get interested in Bitcoin? That was in 2013 and it was by accident. I even downloaded the Litecoin software at that time and wanted to start mining on my laptop, but then I got busy with other things and totally forgot about it. I rediscovered cryptocurrencies in February 2015 through an article in an online magazine, which said that blockchain might revolutionize finance. Reading tons of material about it for six months, I really got the virus. From that point onward, I had the intellectual debate with myself, started blogging and exchanging ideas about it, and giving conferences and talks on the subject. E In your view, is Bitcoin easy to understand? No I think on the day when it becomes easy to be used and understood by many, it will probably be worth 10 times what its worth today. Its very difficult to understand: It goes against what we learn at university, and it also goes against the mainstream finance system: behavior, transactions, etc. In my point of view, it poses a new paradigm, and therefore, is complex and difficult to grasp, [for all including] myself. E There nevertheless is a community of people in Lebanon who ha Continue reading >>

Phore Blockchain Proof Of Stake Crypto Digital Currency

Phore Blockchain Proof Of Stake Crypto Digital Currency

To accommodate new features and accelerate the Phore vision, the existing code This was accomplished with a coin swap from KryptKoin to the new Phore. The initial Phore code base was created from a fork of the PIVX project, which in turn was forked from Dash, all of which have roots going back to Bitcoin Core code. Well over half of the existing KTK was swapped for Phore coins through this process. This window closed on November 18th, 2017, and as a result of unclaimed coins, over 7 million Phore (PHR) were destroyed, reducing the total supply to just over 11 million Phore. Anyone with 10,000 Phore can set up and operate a Phore Masternode, which is online 24/7 and helps provide additional security, reliability, and performance to the Phore blockchain. Given their large stake in Phore, Masternode owners have an even larger incentive to maintain the integrity and security of the Phore blockchain, and to help guide the growth and value of Phore over time. The Phore marketing team will launch a new and improved website which meets the high standard of the ambitious Phore vision. To make Phore more accessible and easier to use, two new wallets will be introduced: The Android Wallet will be available from the Google store and provide a secure and speedy mobile connection with the Phore blockchain. The Web Wallet will provide a platform for online hosted Phore wallets, which will allow a more convenient option for people to store Phore without having to run a dull Phore wallet on a laptop or mobile device. We are planning to build 2FA security into the web wallet platform as well. The Phore core development team will be continually maintaining and updating Phores code to ensure that the currency and wallets are safe and secure. This will continue troughout 2018. During Q1 we Continue reading >>

6 Cryptocurrencies You Should Know About (and None Of Them Are Bitcoin)

6 Cryptocurrencies You Should Know About (and None Of Them Are Bitcoin)

6 Cryptocurrencies You Should Know About (and None of Them Are Bitcoin) How digital, international currency makes business easier than ever. In the 21st century, money is no longer limited to bills, coins and credit cards. In fact, some money is truly international -- not owned by any particular government -- and regulated by the people instead of a central entity. It also exists wholly on the internet. This type of money is called cryptocurrency. You may have heard of or even used Bitcoin when it first became popular several years ago, but where Bitcoin used to rule , other cryptocurrencies are now being used to pay back family members for lunch, charge customers for products and services and make other everyday transactions. As an entrepreneur, its important to keep an eye on the most commonly-used cryptocurrencies. Here are six I think you should know about. Rather than competing with Bitcoin like many other cryptocurrencies, Ethereum complements it; while the Bitcoin blockchain network tracks ownership of its own currency, the Ethereum blockchain runs programming codes for its users applications. People use Ethereum to create custom (but trustworthy) crowdfunding platforms, autonomous online organizations and even their own cryptocurrencies. Because these applications are decentralized, they can only be built in the Ethereum network. Though Ether, the network's money, wasnt made to be used for everyday payments, anything of value can be traded for products and services; as a result, many developers use it to pay for each others help in building applications. However, most online stores that accept cryptocurrency do not take Ether. If Bitcoin were gold, Litecoin would be silver. Litecoin works just like its more popular counterpart, but its worth a little less -- the Continue reading >>

Bitcoin In The Moon!!!

Quote from: omonuyak on July 21, 2017, 05:36:41 AM For those that buy bitcoin last week when the price fell and was dump to $1,785 can now take profit as from is currently $2,750. Thank God for another blessing! Yes bitcoins go to the moon last weeks but look at them now it is like they ran out of gas and tbey are falling hard this time. I am keeping myself calm because i am hoping that the value will arise again and i am looking forward to see bitcoins going to the moon again before this year ends because i have a lot of holdings and i do not want that to be wasted that easily. Bitcoins in the moon are no lt impossible just trust me the Christmas hype is just there that is why the bitcoins are losing their price after this we will be in the moon again. bitcoin in the moon are possible but not this time cause we see that this time bitcoin are not in the good condition and we see that maybe next year the pump of bitcoin may happen. Thank God for another blessing! from what you say is only $ 2000 now has reached more than $ 10,000, this makes me unable to speak and was amazed to see this expensive bitcoin. Did you check the date when OP open this thread? Because if you do then you should know why OP speak about that value, bitcoin back then already went to the moon and lucky for those who handled to hold as they are enjoying even the value right now already showing some corrections. If you dont know who Harry Markopolos is, quickly google his name and come back to this article. If you do, and you arent completely familiar with the relevance he has to the cryptocurrency world, lets start with a little history. With its passion and perma-excitement, the cryptocurrency community sometimes deludes itself into thinking that it is a self-regulating market that doesnt need (or isnt subject to) government intervention to weed out bad actors. 1 Self-regulation, usually refers to an abstract notion that bad actors will eventually be removed by the action of market forces, invisible hand, etc. Yet by most measures, many bad actors have not left because there are no real consequences or repercussions for being a bad dude (or dudette). Simultaneously, despite the hundreds of millions of dollars raised by VCs and over a couple billion dollars raised through ICOs in the past year or so, not one entity has been created by the community with the power or moral authority to rid the space of bad apples and criminals. Where is the regulatory equivalent of FINRA for cryptocurrencies? 2 Part of this is because some elements in the community tacitly enable bad actors. This is done, in some cases, by providing the getaway cars (coin mixers) but also, in other cases, with a wink and a nod a Continue reading >>

21 Terms To Understand Cryptocurrency

21 Terms To Understand Cryptocurrency

Founder @ Coinstack Investment app. Blockchain enthousiast and early investor in Bitcoin, Ethereum and ZCash We want to inform our users so they can become the best traders they can be. That is why we wrote this article explaining all the terms you need to know to understand cryptocurrency. A 51% attack is a situation where more than half of the computing power on a network is operated by a single individual or concentrated group, which gives them complete and total control over a network. Things that an entity with 51% of the computing power can do include, but are not limited to: ASIC mining is a crafty method of mining various coins at a much faster rate than any normal desktop or laptop might allow. Essentially what an ASIC, or Application Specific Integrated Circuit is, is a chip specifically created to execute one task. Enter ASIC mining. An example of one such model is an ASIC miner created to ONLY process SHA-256, which is the problem offered by the Bitcoin blockchain to mine new coins. There are also ASICs for scrypt which specifically solves the mathematical code in relation to altcoins such as Litecoin. Though, in recent years there has been a good amount of dialogue surrounding the longevity of mining this way and weve even seen coins making it so that its impossible to mine with an ASIC. A blockchain is a data system that allows for the creation of a digital ledger of transactions on a non-centralized network. Cryptography is the main operator that allows for users to engage with the ledger without the need for any central figurehead. In laymans terms, this means that people and computers all over work together to create a network instead of a network being made by one single person or company. This network is enabled and protected through cryptography! We Continue reading >>
