Download Wallet! Get the latest version of Ethereum Mist Wallet Here! Tutorial: Ethereum Mining Rig Part 1 (choosing the parts) As i mentioned in my first post here in the last 2-3 weeks i have been looking to get the best parts for my mining rig. Ill try to be straight on the subject with all of my posts.. so here is what i have selected for my first mining rig: Motherboard : ASRock H97 Anniversary ( ) Many miners use ASRock H81 Pro BTC which i have also selected it in the first run but then i decided to go with ASRock H97 Annyversary ( specs ) because of new chipsets and it can be sold easily after i am done with mining (if ever comes to that). The Asrock H97 Anniversary (ASRock ATX DDR3 1066 LGA 1150 Motherboard H97 ANNIVERSARY) comes equipped with PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, but the Asrock H81 Pro BTC comes with PCIe 2.0 x16 slots. Even though, currently, the performance difference is negligible, the H81 Pro BTC may not be able to keep up with advancements in GPU technology in the further future. Check here for full comparison I think that the Radeon R9 380 and 380x are the best video cards for mining, watt consumption is somewhere at 200watt. One R9 380 can mine on average 20MH/s. Radeon R7 370 4GB ( ) I decided to change GPU and instead of R9 380 ill choose R7 370 (after more researches i found out that this are the best performance per hash/cost/power out there), to more specific ill buy the following ASUS STRIX R7 370 . If you decide to go with R9 380 then you will have to buy a more powerful PSU, 1600W like EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD, 1600W Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI and Crossfire Ready 10 Year Warranty Power Supply 120-G2-1600-X1 ( ) CPU/Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core G3258 3.2GHz ( ) Intel G3258 4 Pentium 3.20 GHz 3M Cache 2 Core Processor (BX80646G3258) Comp Continue reading >>

Faq: How To Invest In Cryptocurrencies In Malaysia (aside From Bitcoin)

FAQ: How to Invest in Cryptocurrencies in Malaysia (Aside from Bitcoin) This is a follow-up to my Bitcoin FAQ article .You need to understand bitcoin first before diving intoother types of cryptocurrencies. If you have not read that, you might find this confusing, so read that first. This article looks at cryptocurrency and altcoins from a more investor, rather than tech point of view. If any info here is wrong or outdated, please let me know by commenting. What is the difference between cryptocurrency and altcoins? Cryptocurrency refers to all digital currencies that use cryptographic techniques to produce its output, like transaction details. So basically all, if not most of blockchain-based digital currencies are cryptocurrencies. Altcoins short for alternative coins. An umbrella term that generally refers to any digital currencies that is NOT bitcoin. Altcoins are not just currency, they may have wider applications. Altcoins may be tech platforms, payment network, bitcoin 2.0, scams, social media, marketplaces, jokes, basically it can be 1001 things because the underlying technology (blockchain) can be applied in so many ways What should I know aboutcryptocurrencies before I get them? Some are straightforward currencies too, like bitcoin. The Bitcoin networks data ledger records the amount, time, sender address and receiver address. There are many cryptocurrencies marketed as Bitcoin 2.0 Litecoin, Dash, and similar. They are designed to be faster, cheaper and more scalable than bitcoin. Other cryptocurrencies are created as part of blockchain tech platforms. They have their own defining features and value prepositions, usually super high tech blockchain stuff. C++ | Ethereum Builder's Guide

Below are the build instructions for the latest versions of Ubuntu. The best supported platform as of December 2014 is Ubuntu 14.04, 64 bit, with at least 2 GB RAM. All our tests are done with this version. Community contributions for other versions are welcome! Before you can build the source, you need several tools and dependencies for the application to get started. First, update your repositories. Not all packages are provided in the main Ubuntu repository, those you'll get from the Ethereum PPA and the LLVM archive: sudo apt-get -y updatesudo apt-get -y install language-pack-en-basesudo dpkg-reconfigure localessudo apt-get -y install software-properties-commonwget -O - | sudo apt-key add -sudo add-apt-repository "deb llvm-toolchain-trusty-3.5-binaries main"sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum-qtsudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereumsudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum-devsudo apt-get -y updatesudo apt-get -y upgrade You'll need to install the following develop packages if you want to build the full suite, including the GUI components: sudo apt-get -y install build-essential g++-4.8 git cmake libboost-all-dev automake unzip libgmp-dev libtool libleveldb-dev yasm libminiupnpc-dev libreadline-dev scons libncurses5-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev wget qtbase5-dev qt5-default qtdeclarative5-dev libqt5webkit5-dev libqt5webengine5-dev libcryptopp-dev libjson-rpc-cpp-dev libmicrohttpd-dev libjsoncpp-dev libargtable2-dev clang-3.5 lldb-3.5 Optional: If you're only wanting to build in headless mode (i.e. no GUI), you won't need any of the Qt-specific dependencies, so instead of the last step, just do: sudo apt-get -y install build-essential g++-4.8 git cmake libboost-all-dev automake unzip libgmp-dev libtool libleveldb-dev yasm libminiupnpc-dev li Continue reading >>

The Ethereum Split: Eth Vs Etc (part Iv)

The Ethereum Split: Eth Vs Etc (part Iv)

We are nearing the end of the Ethereum split series. Its been a journey and we hope youve enjoyed the series. In this post, we will be talking in detail about Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC). Before that, just a bit more on the hard fork. It was formed mainly to refund all the money taken from everyone by the DAO. A refund smart contract which have the sole function to withdraw was set up to achieve this. For every 100 DAO, the DAO token holders will receive 1 ETH. If the majority accepted the proposal, everyone will be on the new Ethereum chain and the old one would be disposed. However, the proposal caused a huge split among the community due to disagreement towards the DAO bail-out. The Anti-Hard Fork group refused the hard fork and launched a spin-off project: the Ethereum Classic (ETC). For all intents and purposes, both Ethereum Classic (ETC) and Ethereum (ETH) are similar. They are decentralized platforms that run smart contracts. The notable difference is, of course, how they fare in the market.ETC started trading at USD$2.25 on July 26, its value a quarter of ETH. At the time of writing, ETC is trading at USD$14.45 and its market capital is $USD1.3 billion. It is currently the 7thbiggest cryptocurrency in the market. On the other hand, Ether only suffered a small drop in their price during the DAO attack and quickly gained momentum as the network went through upgrades. Ether is now selling at USD$216.75, a far cry from its price last year, which was in the range of USD$10-13. On top of that, Ether is the second biggest cryptocurrency in the market, at just above USD$20 bilion. At the time of the hard fork, many predicted that the original non-forked chain (now ETC) would disappear within hours. Surprising, there were a group ofminers who continued mi Continue reading >>

From What Is Blockchain? To Building A Blockchain In Less Than Anhour

Investor, writer, and emerging tech enthusiast | www.lstephanian.com From What is Blockchain? to building a blockchain in less than anhour A blockchain is a digital ledger of records thats arranged in chunks of data called blocks. These blocks then link with one another through a cryptographic validation known as a hashing function . Linked together, these blocks form an unbroken chain a blockchain. The reason that this type of data structure is useful for things like cryptocurrencies is decentralization, meaning the records inside this chain arent stored in any single location, are accessible by everyone, and are immutable by any one party. Centralized Structure Vs. Decentralized Structure, Source: SoftwareAdvice Although blockchain is most commonly associated with Bitcoin, there are many uses for this technology. There are several broad categories of blockchain applications, a couple of which include: The Blockchain that makes up Bitcoin sends money globally to individuals and merchants. But Blockchains can also create digital assets like stocks and bonds. A Blockchain can create a verifiable record of any data, file, or contract. This can be useful in any industry that uses big data, like the medical industry or government. Before you begin, I should note that this article assumes you have a basic understanding of programming and some understanding of computer science theory. This article isnt meant to be all-encompassing, but rather to serve as an introduction to blockchain programming for those looking to expand their technical knowledge. I believe that the best way to truly understand a concept is to put it into practice. If you are interested in learning how to implement a blockchain contract, Ive put together an easy-to-follow, step-by-step tutorial below. You Continue reading >>

How To Buy Cryptocurrency Like Bitcoin In Malaysia

How To Buy Cryptocurrency Like Bitcoin In Malaysia

Now is one of the best times to own Bitcoinbut only if you bought it last year. That doesnt mean youre out of the cryptocurrency gold rush, fortunately. Everything between Dogecoin, Ethereum and NEM are all still an opportunity for users to hedge their bets, though options for Malaysians to buy can be limited. Just keep in mind how volatile these cryptocurrencies usually aremore volatile than Bitcoin even, which relies on its founding ideology to drive more stability. With enough smarts and research, you might also still benefit from buying Bitcoin even today. Fun Fact: Bitcoin was born out of the financial crisis of 2008, which drove demand for currency that is not controlled by a central authority. It aims to fix the problem by capping the maximum number of Bitcoins that can ever be in circulation and the rate new Bitcoins can be produced. So if youre an extreme beginner who is curious about how to own your very own chunk of cryptocurrency, heres where to get them. Before you make any serious purchases, read up about cryptocurrency wallets and how to secure them . Try to stick to officially endorsed wallets, and be careful of malware pretending to be wallets. As a fair warning, weve received reports of Bitcoin owners in Malaysia whose wallets were suspended from transferring into Malaysian bank accounts, lasting approximately a month. Do bear this in mind before you commit your money to any wallets. We think a good rule of thumb is to only buy cryptocurrency with money you can afford to lose. The list below is curated based on platforms that have a substantial presence in Malaysia, either through good reputation, or those who are run by Malaysians, as far as we can find. Luno allows you to trade Ringgit with cryptocurrency directly. This Singaporean app is probably t Continue reading >>

Mining Ethereum On Ubuntu With Ethminer

Mining Ethereum On Ubuntu With Ethminer

Although mining Ethereum is way easier on Windows (just keep bashing next in a few installers), there is probably a Hashrate improvement when you're using a Linux as your driver. Moreover, it's way more bad ass. In this example I'm showing the simple steps on how to get started with GPU-Mining, by manually building Ethminer and setting it up to mine using Ethereumpool (although it'll work for other pools too). Mining will shorten the lifetime of your hardware and causes your PC to use more power, thus driving up your electricity bill. Also, you might lose all the money you invest. Thus, use your brain! You, and only you, are responsible for any damage done to you, your hardware or financially. apt-get install opencl-amdgpu-pro-icd cmake git mesa-common-dev ethminer -G -t 1 -F apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit cmake git mesa-common-dev ethminer -U -t 1 -F Bitcoin uses the Hashcash algorithm to verify transactions, which is a relatively simple calculation, which has been put on ASIC's that are capable of outperform many GPU's. Ethereum however, uses the Ethash algorithm , which is set up in such a way that it requires a big amount of Memory. This makes it very hard to transfer the algorithmonto ASIC's but makes GPU's the best method of mining it. As a result, the difficulty of mining Ethereum increases much slower than that of other currencies using the Hashcash algorithm. Furthermore, it's optimized for mining with GPU's only and it even works when you're using an NVidia card, although AMD probably gives you a bigger bang for the buck. Since Ethereum is optimized for GPU mining, one or more nice GPU's are great. Again, it doesn't matter if it's NVidia or AMD, though I suggest using the latter. Also, you need a Wallet to provide your unique Ether-address. Personally I Continue reading >>

Using Bitcoin Or Ethereum To Pay For A New Proton? Cryptocurrency Not Accepted, Dealer Suspended

Using Bitcoin Or Ethereum To Pay For A New Proton? Cryptocurrency Not Accepted, Dealer Suspended

A photo of a Proton dealership apparently accepting cryptocurrency, more specifically Bitcoin and Ethereum, as payment for new Proton cars has gone viral on social media recently. Such transactions, however, is not valid, the company has clarified. The offer was independently initiated by that particular dealer, and is not recognised by Proton. The dealer has since been suspended, pending further investigation, according to the local carmaker. Through an official statement, Proton also adds that while it is open to innovative ways of car sales to keep customers interest in our cars, we would also like to caution our sales network to exercise consideration and due care in carrying out promotional activities which are not endorsed by the company. There are complications with cryptocurrencys unstable nature, obviously. At the time of writing, one Bitcoin is worth RM67,500, enough to buy a Proton Preve. Just three weeks ago, it was worth around RM10,000 more, and at this time last year, it was RM4,200, just enough for a downpayment on a new Iriz. Its also worth noting that Bank Negara Malaysia has announced that cryptocurrency is not a legal payment method in the country. What do you think of this, dear readers would you actually want to use cryptocurrency to pay for cars? Let us know your thoughts below. Continue reading >>

How To Beat Fomo: What Are Bitcoin & Ethereum Worth In2020?

How To Beat Fomo: What Are Bitcoin & Ethereum Worth In2020?

How to beat FOMO: What are Bitcoin & Ethereum worth in2020? 6/13/17 Edit: updated with feedback from a few Redditors Its been a big year for cryptocurrencies, with the total market cap for crypto jumping 6x since January 1st - from $18B to over $111B as of June 13th. The FOMO (fear of missing out) is real. New money is entering the market at a staggering rate - to the degree that many exchanges have had problems on-boarding and verifying their new customers to keep up with demand. These new investors are coming in droves after hearing about sky-high returns from a friend or friends friend or a friend of a friends friend. Once theyve gotten through the verification process on Coinbase or Gemini or Kraken, they execute their first market order and the rush of the cryptocraze washes over them. To the MOON! Then price drops by 10%, our new investor freaks out, convinces themselves that theyre hardly ever right, that ETH or BTC is going to $0 and that they should just cut their losses. They panic sell, adding fuel to the micro-bear run and the price continues to drop. Whew, that was close. Got out just in time. A short time later, they see that the price is not only retracing back toward their entry price, soon theyll realize that it will exceed it. They just bought high and sold low. They leave the market. Recent moments of FOMO in BTC & ETHtrading Weve seen this play out a number of times this year, and as an investor myself, I too get concerned when I see the price of ETH & BTC begin a FOMO trend. Ive seen the value of my portfolio drop by 2050% in hours. However, in order to counteract FOMO and any knee-jerk panic selling reaction I might have, Ive done two things: First, Ive taken my coins off of the exchanges. This prevents me from having my finger on the trigger and Continue reading >>
