The Best Blockchain Conferences To Attend In 2018

The Best Blockchain Conferences to Attend in 2018 Looking for a way to spend that leftover budget? Attend a conference! Image via: North American Blockchain Conference. The 2017 train is pulling into the station, and you know what that means: if you want the expense on this year's tax returns, you need to act fast. Here's one idea if there's extra cash burning a hole in your books: attend a blockhain conference. Crypto events can be found all over the globe, and there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) that are probably worth your time. And with Bitcoin's price where it is, new events are probably being planned and scheduled as you read this. But here are a few cool blockchain events all over the globe that you can definitely attend in 2018. (This list is focused mostly on the first half of the year, since few details about later conferences have been revealed yet). Why: It's a cruise. Need we say more? OK, fine. Private beaches. Sunset viewing parties. John McAfee. There's no way this cruise will be boring. As of this writing, there are tickets available, but click fast if you want in, as they looked very limited. Why: This is one of the longest-running conferences in the blockchain space, so it's huge and it features a lot of big names. And it's not just about Bitcoin: Ethereum, ICOs, and basically anything and everything blockchain is on the table. It'll be a great place to learn and an even better place to network. Looking for a blockchain conference in a fun city? Why not London! Why: It might not be as balmy as Miami this time of year, but London's a great town and there's a full week of blockchain related activities on the schedule, including a hackathon and a bunch of blockchain workshops in addition to the main conference and exhibition. This is another Continue reading >>

Crypto-consciousness Conference 2017

Crypto-consciousness Conference 2017

Cryptocurrencies and other blockchain technologies might radically change the world, but how will they change us? Any change to the systems that shape our world, must also impact our inner world - our beliefs, values, sense of identity and beyond. This conference will bring some of the worlds leading thinkers in the space for a day of talks, open discussion, and expert-led breakout groups to explore how these emerging technologies might elevate consciousness and transform the human experience. Here are some questions we'll be delving into: How might cryptocurrency/blockchain technology impact individual and collective consciousness? How would a global shift in how we exchange value alter our sense of trust and connection to humanity? How does the greed partly fueling the emerging industry impact the ecosystem, and alter what might emerge? How does greed impact and alter the ecosystem? Can we tie currency to psychological wellbeing or mental health? What are the implications of the distribution of power, re-distribution of wealth, restructured political, organizational and econimic system? The Crypto-Consciousness Conference aims to set the stage for an ongoing conversation and community, pondering how these emerging technologies might influence the heart and soul of humanity. 10am: Optional Blockchain Crash Course - for those that need a primer 10:30am: Welcome & Intro w/ Mikey Siegel and Josh Whiton 11am: Idea Masterminding / Group Discussion BillMeltonis the founder of several notable companies, including VeriFone, GIV Global Private Equity, and Cybercash Inc. Event: World Crypto Economic Forum 2017 | Turbadium

World Crypto Economic Forum, Jan 15-16 2018 The WCEF conference at the South San Francisco Conference Center in South San Francisco, CA on January 15-16 2018 was the first major blockchain & crypto event of the year and a smashing success! We were lucky enough to have two main-stage presentations the general track on Day 1 and the technical track on Day 2. At the general track, Turbadium CEO and Co-Founder Scott Harms delivered an overview of using asset tokens as the primary means to generate or destroy crypto-monetary supply, resulting in market forces freely competing to reach an equilibrium; This approach brings stability and measurable intrinsic value to cryptocurrencies and ushers in the return of sound money, while democratizing the world of high finance and returning it to the people. A copy of the Token Track presentation can be found here. CEO Scott Harms at the World Crypto Economic Forum, January 15 2018 At the developer track, Turbadium CTO and Co-Founder Andrew Gaiziunas provided an introduction to the UBL (Unified Blockchain Lattice) framework. The UBL is what allows multiple blockchains to interact and trigger transactions within the lattice, without the need for centralization or modification of the interacting chains. This underlying architecture allows scalable and lightweight cryptocurrency chains to interact with more complex and heavier asset chains while maintaining the decentralized model of trust and authority. South San Francisco Conference Center

I came here for a business meeting and was impressed by the facilities and catering. Plenty of foyer space for registration with breakout and side rooms for a variety of functions. Though I attended a simple business meeting, I saw a conference happening in the main space in the morning, then the room transformed into a formal dinner by the time we left. The catering was delicious too. I love that there's in-house catering and AV.The only downside was that it was difficult to track down a point-of-contact when we arrived amidst the conference happening, so we had to hunt someone down to setup our AV. And because there was a conference going on, those attendees kept wandering towards our business meeting to use the restrooms nearby, causing minor distractions. On the plus side, there's free parking!I could definitely see myself hosting a conference here sometime in the future. In fact, Tarah has been super helpful with one of my conference inquiries, and I really do hope that I can make something work with this beautiful and professional venue! Came here a bunch of times for advertised job fairs. None of the fairs became sucessfull since I am not employed at San Mateo County, which might be a good thing. A very small place. Thankful for this facility to allow us to host our quarterly leadership development weekend. It's clean and in an easy location to access from the freeway and reasonable parking. Went to the MediCal-Surgical Conference last Thursday, April 6, 2017 and Friday April 7, 2017. It was good and on the Very last Day of the Conference, Actually, I won the Raffle. It was a "Mexican Themed Basket" just in time for "Cinco de Mayo"! (Which is only a couple of weeks away)It had Gourmet Salsa, Taco Shells, Chipotle Black Beans, Queso Cheese, Taco Mix, Chile Lime S Continue reading >>

East West Blockchain Conference

The Blockchain industry has had a tumultuous year. Bitcoin price breaks $7,000 and forked twice; total cryptocurrency market cap reaches $170B from $14B in January this year, over 10x increase in past 10 months; China ICO ban shocked the global market, with Russian and Korean governments following with increasing regulations... China was previously a market leader, accounting for 1/3 of global crypto trading volumes, yet unfettered ICOs attracted regulatory scrutiny. As Chinas policymakers seek to reshape the industry according to their own agenda, what will leading miners and exchanges there do to survive and thrive in an uncertain regulatory environment? Media worldwide has created a frenzied rumor mill about the fate of miners and exchanges in China. However, at this conference, we will learn about the on-the-ground realities seen by Chinas current largest exchange Binance (now incorporated in Korea) and Bixin.com who has one of the worlds largest mining operations. In addition, representatives such as Ryan Ke (Hcash), Eric Meltzer (INBlockchain Capital), Bo Dong (FBG Capital) and Robin Zhu (CEO of Huobi.com) will give some insights on the market trends in Asia, after the conclusion of the "19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China". As rumors spread of regulatory bans and restrictions, technology and decentralized applications continue to evolve and advance unabated. Blockchain companies will discuss their latest advances and progress, and well be able to hear the latest challenges and achievements made in the rapidly evolving blockchain ecosystem. San Francisco Conference Shows Promise And Perils Of Cryptocurrency

San Francisco conference shows promise and perils of cryptocurrency First, there was Bitcoin, and now there's a growing frenzy around investing in all sorts of cryptocurrency. (KGO-TV) First there was Bitcoin, and now there's a growing frenzy around investing in all sorts of cryptocurrency. On Monday, a traveling conference rolled into San Francisco, featuring a showcase of companies aiming to disrupt their industries using blockchain technology. "I think the blockchain is the biggest revolution of our time," said Vishal Gurbuxani, co-founder of Team In Residence, a sponsor of the CryptoEconomy World Tour. RELATED: Everything you need to know about Bitcoin The blockchain is the mathematical magic that makes cryptocurrency work. It's the basis of Bitcoin, Ethereum and now over a thousand other currencies, including many created by startups like the ones on the tour. "We've got everything from healthcare to food, to solar, to environmental, to financial, to legal," said Team In Residence partner Mona Akhavi. Solve Care Foundation is one such startup, aiming to replace mountains of medical bills and bureaucratic approval processes with a simple, virtual token issued to patients by insurance companies. It would make bills in the mail and the dreaded "out of network" rate a thing of the past. "Choose anybody in this room as a doctor instead of me telling you who you can choose," said Solve Care CEO Pradeep Goel, who founded the company after leaving his job as a health insurance company CIO. "Pay him directly using my coin, and the doctor having the guarantee the coin will be redeemable." There are coins for drone delivery, coins for free Wi-fi, and new ones launching every day. "An ICO is an initial coin offering, it's the new way of raising capital," Akhavi explained. For Continue reading >>

Join Looprings First Hackathon In San Francisco, Jan 13th~14th.

Join Looprings First Hackathon in San Francisco, Jan 13th~14th. We are hosting our first Hackathon, at the World Crypto Economic Forum (WCEF), this weekend (Jan 13th and 14th) in San Francisco, CA. The World Crypto Economic Forum, in the San Francisco Bay Area, is the first of a series of events around the world. These events are designed to support the blockchain community and to help to create a global network of entrepreneurs and developers in todays fast-evolving blockchain economy. Implementing support for the ERC233 token standard, in the Loopring Protocol smart contracts. $10,000 USD worth LRC token will be rewarded to each of the top 3 teams or individuals. Loopring is a protocol for decentralized value exchange. The current version ( v1.0.0 ) of the protocol supports trustless trading of ERC20 tokens. We would like to support trading between ERC223 tokens as well as hybrid trading between ERC20 and ERC223 tokens. This hackathon only requires developers to modify the current implementation of the Loopring Protocol to support ERC223 trading. But, we will offer the winners a discretionary bonus, if they can implement hybrid trading. This additional bonus will not be awarded until a high-quality pull request is submitted, reviewed, and merged into our official smart contract GitHub repository . To maximize your chances of winning the hackathon, we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with our whitepaper to help you to fully understand how the Loopring Protocol is designed to work. We also have both a simplified version of the whitepaper, as well as a high-level overview of the protocol available for review. It would also be advised to have a combination of both Solidity smart contract, and JavaScript programming experience, within each team. To learn m Continue reading >>
