Satoshi Point Installs Bitcoin Atm At Swanseas Caf Nisse

There is a lot of focus on Bitcoin ATms these days, not only because they can generate quite the chunk of revenue but also whether or not they are useful for everyday consumers. Satoshi Point, the UKs leading network of Bitcoin ATMs, has expanded their services to Swansea in Wales. Satoshi Point has installed a brand new Bitcoin ATM at Caf Nisse, located on Wind Street [below TechHub Wales] in Swansea. In doing so, Caf Nisse becomes one of the very first brick-and-mortar locations to experiment with Bitcoin. Furthermore, this allows any of Caf Nisses customers and employees, as well as TechHub businesses to make payments using this disruptive digital currency. I am very excited to be opening up to new methods of payment and attracting a wider catchment of customers who may be intrigued and excited by payment using Bitcoin. The good news for Satoshi Point keeps trucking on by the look of it after the young company turned over 38,000GBP in one month in 2014. In fact, there are already plans in motion to bring additional Bitcoin ATms to Wales during the remainder of the year, as there is a growing interest from potential investors. Its a new paradigm in money. Organisations of all walks see benefits from opening up to Bitcoin; for example, the RNLI obtained 2,000 in donations in the first 24 hours of adopting Bitcoin payments. Im keen to see an expansion further into Wales with the aim of seeing a Bitcoin ATM in every town and city in the country.I believe Bitcoin will be the future of internet money, person-to-person instant transactions of any value for a penny, setup in under a minute, Hassan Khostaghaza, Managing Director of Satoshi Point told BTCFeed. Given the borderless nature of Bitcoin transfers its the same currency anywhere in the world and is not regulated by Continue reading >>

Stokes Croft's Best Supermarket... And Bitcoin | The Bristol Cable

Whod have thought that the unassuming corner shop could be home to a cryptocurrency ATM? In lighter, totally random news unrelated to Westminster: if you ever fancy grabbing a snack at the Best Supermarket on Stokes Croft, by all means do. But as youre reaching over for that Snickers, check out the Bitcoin ATM. Yes, you read that right. Turns out the Best corner shop next to Hamilton House is a trading post for the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. The shops main stock and trade is still in selling fags, lollipops, endless selections of biscuits, booze etc., but its also home to a Satoshi Point Bitcoin ATM . Founded in 2014, the company is attempting to popularise and ease the use of Bitcoin a decentralized peer-to-peer digital currency which as of yet, continues to baffle most (See below for what Bitcoin is). But thats the point of these ATMs, theyre simple to use and designed to appeal to people who arent necessarily tech savvy enthusiasts. It took a mate to point out the ATM, which is otherwise fairly inconspicuous on the shop counter. All those oblivious Snickers-buying trips and little had I known that sat right there, was a portal into a burgeoning underground currency market quite a contrast to the shop front that hasnt changed in years. Doing the maths on a giant calculator, Majid Khan, who works at Best Supermarket, said that if only he had bought Bitcoin when theyd first brought the machine into the shop a year and a half ago, hed be loaded. Its crazy, loads of people use this underground currency, says a bemused Khan. Sure enough, as he talks, a person finishes using the machine after topping up a Bitcoin account with 30 in cash. She asked not to be named. And thats understandable. As well as avoiding middlemen, and the currency being a relatively steady source of gro Continue reading >>

SatoshiPoint launching three bitcoin ATMs in U.K. next week Posted by Steve Shanafelt at May 26, 2014 in Bitcoin Tech , News Comments Off on SatoshiPoint launching three bitcoin ATMs in U.K. next week The race to become the largest bitcoin ATM provider in Britain is heating up. Later this week, U.K.-based bitcoin startup SatoshiPoint will activate two new Robocoin ATMs in London. A third ATM is tentatively scheduled to be debuted on June 3rd in Bristol. The machines are currently connected to Bitstamp, and will charge a 5% transaction fee. The ATMs are relatively new Robocoin models allowing two-way transactions, and have significant anti-money laundering and know-your-customer protections built in. Customers have shown some reluctance to use the machines in other markets, as they require a three-step authentication process involving a biometric hand print, a scanned government-issued ID and digital face-recognition. Its still unknown how Britains regulators will react to these ATMs in the long term, but SatoshiPoint does face some stiff competition from a flood of considerably more user-friendly automated vending machines (AVMs) recently announced by QuikBit and Lamassu. The first two SatoshiPoint ATMs will be placed near Oxford Circus and in a soup shop in the Old Street London Underground shopping concourse. Should the initial launch prove profitable, the company plans to expand its network across the U.K. Continue reading >>

How Does A Bitcoin Atm Work Or How To Use A Bitcoin Atm?

How Does A Bitcoin Atm Work Or How To Use A Bitcoin Atm?

How does a Bitcoin ATM work or How to use a Bitcoin ATM? A Bitcoin ATM allows users to buy and sell Bitcoins for cash. Bitcoin ATM’s can be more expensive than online transactions as the infrastructure cost is higher – i.e. building an actual ATM and the steps that are actually needed to transfer the money and Bitcoins. The first step is to scan her identification which the ATM then validates. Then the user feeds in some cash and generates a QR code from her wallet – a QR code being a large square of black and white pixels. Then the user sends the Bitcoins to the presented address. Some ATM’s generate a paper wallet – or offline wallet – essentially a bearer instrument of the Bitcoins. Bitcoin ATM’s are essentially money transmitting tools and as such the businesses come under FinCEN rulings and have to comply with Know Your Client and Anti Money Laundering procedures, or AML and KYC. Registering for money transmitter status can be costly and this means ATM providers have to knudge up fees. Typically fees are in the range of 5% and quoted prices are taken from large exchanges on a live basis . The company will try to manage its cash and Bitcoin exposure by balancing its inputs and outputs through live trading with its exchange – holding too much Bitcoin without hedging can introduce the possibility of large profits or losses. Other problems come with banking facilities as it has been extremely hard for bitcoin related businesses to get traditional banking facilities – so moving cash in and out can be problematic – hedging using various Bitcoin futures can be one method of mitigating risks involved due to volatile price fluctuations. Although the initial users of Bitcoin have been aficionados and enthusiasts, there are persuasive arguments for the sp Continue reading >>
